Mine arrived this morning. No mention (That I could see) in the welcome pack about the porting process so I had to ring customer care.

Anyway, is anyone else having problems access the appstore from the phone? When I try to select an app to download the info page doesnt open correctly. I just get some broken html. I wonder is this related to the data/proxy problem others are having? However pages are loading in safari ok?!

Yeah, I have the same issue attempting to download apps via 3G - I believe it is to do with the three network rather than the end user.

I've just emailed three using there contact-us form so hopefully it will be rectified shortly.

Mine arrived this morning at 10:30.
I rang three straight away to get it activated and port my number from O2.
They couldn't activate the phone as i can't connect it to my PC at work and they are also having "issues" with porting numbers from O2. Great start
I can't wait to get home and start getting it set up.
My first impressions of the phone aren't great though. It definitely needs a case. I don't really like the feel of the metal. Sort of feels like a prototype.
Anyway, I'll reserve judgement until I get the thing working..
    Nervously excited!

Got one in CPW is see-through and came with a skin for the screen, only thing is it leaves a watermark on the back side.

On a side note, what do people think of the screen compared to the 3GS?

Yeah, they told me that O2 are being slow to release the numbers and I should call back later this evening or tomorrow!

Well that's their own problem, losing money as I stay on O2 til they port me across.

Starting to get worried about people's reports of zero internet access in non 3G areas. I spend most of my time in Dublin so not a massive issue, but do go to Donegal & Sligo a fair bit so I'd like reliable EDGE access

Just received my iPhone 4 from 3. Won't be able to try it out until this evening when I'm home but just noticed they provided me with a micro sim with a 083 number on it.

Is this normal even if I'm to have my number ported? Or do I still use that micro sim and wait until I'm ported over?

As far as I know everyone got a Micro Sim. I called and requested the porting on Saturday it ported in stages over the weekend. Now I fully have my own number so it's all good.

That's normal, once you are ported over, your curent 086/087 number will be overwritten to that sim

Yeah I have wifi at home and in work, so not majorly worried.
I hardly use any of my data allowance. I only use mobile internet when I'm in the pub proving a point :D

This is correct. You use the new three micro sim and then your existing number will be ported onto this sim.

As far as I'm aware Three have never had any official agreement with Vodafone for data access when you have to piggyback on their network, so EDGE with Three is highly unlikely. That said according to their coverage map for mobile broadband http://bing.bizmaps.ie/threeireland/Pages/Public/CoveragePublicPage.aspx you would be hard pressed to find no 3G signal. The main problem I have is that 3G signals can be intermittent due to their design and I accept that it will be normal that on occasion the phone will have to switch to the vodafone 2G network, but not switching back automatically when a 3G signal is available is just not good enough.

I've been onto 3 about this and they're looking into it...any chance you ported your number as well as so far everyone who's reported this on boards had their number ported including myself..if it's not resolved i'm gonna look for a brand new number..

Thanks for the reply, I did indeed port my number. I really don't want a new number though, I've had this one for many years. I'll give them a ring later and see what they say. Keep us posted on your progress if you can...

Your 3 number is temporary until you're ported off your old network. The 083 number on that sim then becomes redundant.

Ah yeah, I know, I'm back on my old number, the port was done in no time at all. I was referring to the thought that a new number from three would sort out my issues with 3G...

okay, my number is now fully ported, after 5 days!

but i'm still having the same problem, with the 3g connection and having to put it in airplane mode and then taking it out of airplane mode.
Granted, that works, but, it's just not good enough.

I've been on to customer service, and they said they are aware of the problem, and have asked apple for a solution but have not yet heard anything back(horse****e i'd say) and that the only thing they can advice me to do is sit tight and wait for a solution!

I'm having the same issue, and looks like many others are too (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12034655) - here's hoping they fix quick.

there's definitely something screwy with the way 3 are porting over numbers..
it seems everyone who's having an issue with either signal or 3g signal had their number ported from another network..
3 would want to get the finger out now at this stage

My3 is still say that my current spend is 309.74, can any one confirm if this is the cost of the iPhone, Eur309 for the 32GB?

It shouldnt be listed here, as I paid with my Visa Debit on Three.ie, although I have noticed that it hasn't been debited from my account yet....

Well im for one can safely say my experience with 3 has been the worse decision iv ever made with a network , the 3G coverage has been dire on all levels , Just so everybody are aware here 3's "Cooling off Period" has appartantley changed that if you dont agree with their terms you can send your phone to be fixed with phonemenders..

Mine is too, but it says my next bill will be for 42.88 which I assume is the 40 bill and a little for the few days between the end of the month.

You won't be charged again for the phone as it is paid, but it is still part of your account history.

@NothingMan Have they debited your account/card yet?
I checked my bill is 43.00

The money for my phone was taken from my credit card. The bill of 42.88 is due for debiting on or near the 23rd August according to 3.

I hope they canchange it though, cos I like to have all my DD's coming out at the start of the month.

You can call their customer care and they can change your billing date so your bill is paid at the start of the month

I ordered my iphone 4 friday afternoon over the phone and the sales agent just said it would be sent out within 10 days...my bill online now says €309 next bill (which is fine) but now i cannot sent txt or make calls overseas because the agent reglected to inform me that by billing for the phone, it would push me over my €165 credit limit. What a clown.

Were you guys given any tracking info when you got yours shipped out?

    Cheers

I heard rumours about this too. It seems that only certain people who ported over were offered it. I haven't seen any evidence of me getting it, at any rate.
