I'm leaving the country is 6 weeks or so and having read the vegetarian thread, I really want to either capture or hunt an animal, kill it, cook it and eat it before I leave.. The problem is I don't have access to a gun and while I like fish, I'd rather eat a proper animal.

What would be easiest way to go about doing this? And i'm not going to eat a mouse either.

You could just go to the butchers and get a 14oz steak.

There are hunting activity holidays available, have a google. Alternatively set a trap for a rabbit, or get in contact with someone on the shooting forum who'll bring you out hunting/lamping/pillaging.

Talk nice to one of the people on the hunting forum.

Or you could buy a bunny in a pet shop. You don't have to tell them you're going to eat it.

Alternatively catch a mouse and eat it. Apparently they taste really good.

I killed a crow today that's still stuck to the front of my car.
You're welcome to him if you want.

The rabbit idea isn't half bad.. Read a thread on another site before where a guy raised his own pet rabbits to eat them after.

Set a snare and catch a rabbit or hare. they are easy to skin, you can literally peel them like a banana. Tasty too, and no buck shot to worry about.

If you go into Marley Park or St Annes or somewhere like that some night, dig a hole, diameter a meter, down at least a couple of meters. Place upturned highly sharpened wooden stakes at the base of the pit. Cover the opening with light branches and some leaves and dirt.
Your sure the capture and severely injure / kill a small mammal.
    Or maybe a child.

There's a spider here somewhere if you wanna come catch it.

You'll pass a forest where deer live on the way..

Mink are not native to this country and are beginning to cause problems so are seen as a pest and as such it may not be a bad thing to trap one of them.
they can be easy to catch if you go to a river bank where they are reported to be. you get about 4 foot of 6 inch clay pipe and stick it into the ground at approx 70 degree angle and throw a bit of fish in the bottom. The climb in but cant get out. Dunno what they're like to eat but you could always make a nice hat

He'd probably go to Burger King - but make it look like he had to get through a big scary forest to get there.

Any particular reason why you have to do this in Ireland ?

I'd say you could nobble a grey squirrell with a catapult, or even a trap. They're an invasive species, so you're doing the country a favour, and they're pretty yummy.

definitely head over to the hunting forum, they might just let you go on a hunt with them. my dad hunts deer and always bring someone with him, he needs help getting them onto the back of the jeep, so i'd say you'll fulfill this little dreams of yours.

Not really actually.. But I don't know much about the wildlife in asia. I don't want to have to kill an elephant or a tribesman.. Maybe I could kill a shark instead..

I keep chickens. You're more than welcome to slit the throat of one or two of them if you want.

Drive around the country roads early in the morning and pick yourself up some road kill! You will have plenty of choice from badgers to foxes to rats etc......

Google Baz's extreme world........he met some guy who did this and then froze it and ate it! He had a massive deep freezer in his house full of roadkill! Yummy!;)
