Is lying in an alleyway with a needle in your arm freedom?
Most people don't inject Ecstasy. They find that pills are far handier.

nodgienodge, your right to an extent, it is fake, but if it can be used as a tool to open up and not hold back anything in a psychotherapy session, then what harm.
For something thats so fake , you can be brutally honest to people when your half mangled raising your jaw while sitting on a couch.

Are you defending your freedom to take drugs or are you defending the drug itself because you get a feeling from it that you can't get in the real world?

If the answer is the former..I salute you. If it's the latter you have a real problem.

I believe the only way to get that much seratonin released in the real world is a marathon sex session while devouring Kinder Buenos. As you can imagine, this is very awkward while socialising so i'll stick with the drugs.

Out of curiosity what were the effects on the 20% of soldiers who did not experience an improvement in their condition??? Did MDMA just have no effect whatsoever or were there negative side effects???

Let me introduce you to my little friend heroine

No but seriously sex and drugs (including kinder buenos) aren't the only 2 sources of pleasure in this world. And serotonin (note the "o") isn't the only brain chemical that makes you happy. I mean sooner or later your serotonin level needs to go up again once you're bored with the buzz you have. Inner peace and a fit and healthy body are a lot more long-lasting and powerful than elevated serotonin for an hour or so. You can't win marathons or kick ass in sales or business or sport with an ecstacy pill in your back pocket. I really do hate this drug in particular. I don't know why, The people who take it are usually really secretive about it. At least cokeheads and smackheads are honest about what they do but ecstacy users... ugh!...they're the same ****ing smug arrogant people who wear glasses and turtlenecks and work in video libraries and think they know everything when they fail to realise the very obvious fact that they're working in a video library. I know I'm spitting out stereotypes here but I'm just what saying with everyone's thinking.

Edit: If you still don't know what I mean listen to "I'm your pusher" and "Ya played yourself" by Ice-T. A rapper with a lot of ANTI-DRUG sentiment in his lyrics who still manages to somehow sound cool.

Ok you're obviously somebody who loves taking ecstacy and would like it legalised but how far would you go to make it legal? Would you march outside the dail? Would you go up against armed riot police?

Ask yourself this: Are you defending your freedom to take drugs or are you defending the drug itself because you get a feeling from it that you can't get in the real world?

If the answer is the former..I salute you. If it's the latter you have a real problem.

PS. I'm not anti-drug I'm pro-freedom. Is lying in an alleyway with a needle in your arm freedom? You're nothing but a rebellious fool.

WTF? Armed Riot Police? Are you reading 1984 at the minute?

    What an odd post.

People like taking drugs. They will continue to take them regardless of your opinion of the legality or otherwise of the same. Why worry about it?

I agree, when you take mdma you lose all your insecurities and inhibitions. You can say absolutely anything and not hold back. There is no better environment for that than with a psychotherapist.

Wow, we are only a few posts in and already have gone off the original topic.

It's interesting that MDMA would be used in therapy, but what happens when you come down, sure therapy would be great craic but would it have lasting results?

It lets the patient become calm enough for therapy to work..

i'd love for her to evaluate your views, opinions and perceptions of your experiences in this thread. i tell ya it wouldn't be flattering for you. your so pathetic you derailed this thread..sham(e)!

I think we've all established that your opinion on anything means nothing in this thread.

Anyways, back on track.. I think the tests are a good idea.

Anything that helps people overcome their demons is a good thing. Isn't Psilocybin (magic mushrooms) also being tested as a medicine?

MDMA is good for the head. Makes you think about your life in ways that you might be a bit too repressed to normally consider.

This is really the key issue. Sure it may help at the time for therapy, but this has to be considered against any come down effects or long term effects it could have and how these would impact on the patient's (mental) health.
