Outside its door, Mr. Landis said, team staff members were stationed at each end of the hall to make sure nobody showed up unannounced. The riders were told before they went into the room not to talk when they got inside, he said. The smoke detectors had been taken down, he said, plastic was taped over the heater and the air-conditioning unit, and anything with a hole in it was taped over. The purpose, Mr. Landis figured, was to obscure the view of any hidden camera.
I only read the first bit of this article so far, but this intrigues me a bit. If they're happy do do a blood transfusion on their (presumably black windowed) bus after a stage, why did they do this kind of thing in a hotel room that they have NO control over. Yeah, the covered up some obvious security holes, but could not have covered everything. Did the rooms have no windows? What about sockets and switches? If the bus is a secure location, why ever do anything in a hotel room?

I agree, you're some fcuking idiot at the third biggest sporting event in the world, behind the olympics, and the World Cup, and you end up wandering around like a spare t!t in front of some of the competitors, for some kind of inane personal glory. Yes, that man is a knob.

The old Anti-Lance Shpiel makes me snigger, because to them it's a case of "Doping-Lance versus clean peloton". whereas it's actually a case of "Ambassador for the sport Versus equally questionable guys who haven't brought the sport to hitherto unknown levels of popularity".

I know which poison i'll choose.

Woah, back up the truck here. The guy in the white t-shirt is obviously allowed to be in that area and was walking along, minding his own business. Personal glory? Walking? My ar$e.

The guys didn't even know Armstrong was there. Instead of saying "excuse me" or "coming up behind" or whatever, he just barged into him and glared at him.

    The guy's a pr!ck, doper or not.

From what I remember of the video there is no ambient sound. So he could have shouted something and been ignored.

However, it is a little difficult to believe that the guy couldn't be aware of The Greatest Cyclist Of All Time approaching from behind. I get goosebumps just thinking about him.

He should have felt it in his loins.

You are missing the point - Lance is the most famous cyclist of all time all over the world.

He got millions from USPS (US taxpayer) and now getting millions from Radioshack whose customers constribute to his massive wages.

This is the way he treats the public in return?

PS you could say some riders chain falling off on a hill is a non story too?

If he hit the guy or verbally abused him then yeah it’s a big story but he bumped into him and then looked back at him that's all. In my opinion it's hardly outrageous behaviour obviously some people think it's a big deal I just don't agree.

Schleck's chain falling off and Contador's not waiting is obviously a much bigger deal as it potentially directly affected the outcome of the race.

He elbowed him, there's a difference, still it's not a major story, just goes to confirm how much of a d*** he is. At least Cadel Evans is funny when he's doing it "I'll cut your head off" etc

What I saw in that clip was an act of aggression. IMO He purposely shouldered an innocent pedestrian & then attempted to intimidate him. What an arsehole.

Its not big news, but just goes to reaffirm what an utter prick this man is. He may have some serious wins behind him. But the question will always remain - did he achieve that through his own ability, or did he have a better doctor/drug taking program than the others?

I have no time for him & think the sport would be better off without all the negativity he brings to it.

I'm more than happy to indulge in a bit of Lance-bashing (as I believe it's called by some) but with this video I'd have to agree that there's nothing in it. You've got a pumped up and pissed off cyclist who's just been in a breakaway for about 160km over the Pyrenees in the boiling heat only to completely fook up his sprint. He's bound to be a bit riled up and if you're wandering around the team buses after a stage you've got to expect there's be a few wound up cyclists.

In isolation it's insignificant, but this speaks of Lance's state of mind in his final tour, and specifically on this stage which he was apparently saving himself for. Not everything boils down to criticism or praise.

I haven't been following things much this week, but I'm wondering whether he expect to be gifted the stage out of respect. Or did he think he could win the sprint, or TT off the front?

He has been conditioned over the years to expect success. Training in, wins out. Dealing with failure now much be very tough. It's not like he's just waltzed up to the tour without any work. This has been his focus for the entire year, probably his last on the pro tour. He said himself beforehand that his climbing power was close to the best its ever been.

Pain, exhaustion, disappointment, lashing out. This is the story.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, to me it looked like an accidental collision, Armstrong felt the spectator was at fault and looked back at him. I don't see any elbows or anything else.

Getting back on topic, I've often read the line that Armstrong had access to better doc's or better drugs. What do people think Armstrong was on that was so ahead of the game? I've always thought that most of the top guys would have had access to the same stuff and the same level of knowledge from the docs.

Yeah....but there's nothing to it. Two utterly minor incidents. I suppose my issue with this type of discussion is that it all feeds into the cult of Lance. "What will he be like now he can't win all time?" - I couldn't give a flying one. I put this video on the same level as Lindsey Lohan's nail-painting in court.

By the way, this isn't meant to sound as argumentative as it might :)

I think his front wheel goes before he hits into the pedestrian, he seems to be trying to squeeze past the poles holding up the roping at the BMC Bus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,480 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

    Lance has hired Brian Daly.
From traffic offenses to death penalty cases, Brian wields his intensity as a battle shield, championing liberty as his raison d’etre. Brian Daly is a true warrior for justice.

They're going to need a very big desk to fit both of those egos behind. :D

He should get a bell, or try whistling. Squeezing past someone with their back to you, who doesn't see you coming, then blaming them is not cool. Yeah, he had a bad day at work, but he's Lance and you would think by now he is used to being followed by cameras and reporters and not act like such a jerk.

Cycle, keep smiling for 5 minutes, then take it out on one of the radioshack lackeys in the team bus behind closed doors. Maybe ring Floyd and leave him a "Mad Mel" message. Or go crazy on twitter and tell us what you are actually thinking and not doing marketing work for Nike.

He is in trouble now because this guy will tell everything as he is in a terrible mental state as present.

Of course Hamilton was a disgrace as a cyclist and that list on the all the stuff he took is crazy. And of course the mess up of the blood transfusion test at the Olympics, brought shame to the sport.

However, he is more likely to spill the beans as he is guilt riden and wants to promote his new training plan/coaching company

Aye I think you hit the nail on the head there, if he wasn't thick with anger he wouldn't have put himself in that position.

And you talked to Hamilton's psychiatrist when ? Or how are you privy to his 'mental state being terrible' ?

Less of the personal attacks man. Take it easy.

He said it himself after his test there last year for DHEA. Said he was depressed and finding life tough. All over the press. Do a bit of a google before you jump down my troat
