Here's a tip. Find religion. It's like a free bet on whether there's a god.

Odds on there ever being a proof of God?:p

Paddy Power that you hear on the radio is Just the marketing manager of Paddy Power, my sister works in the head office, by all accounts he's a genuine nice guy but he is just doing his job marketing for them and take it as that.

PP has quickly become a hugely profitable business and household name (high street and online) in the betting market.

I'm sure there is a substantiasl investment in the business and one cannot ignore PP's success.

Well done and fair play. But IMO betting is a loser's game, 'and for that reason only, I'm not interested. I'm out!':D

    Of course Bookies lose.

John McCririck was one of the more famous failed bookies.

I have been asked to leave a few Bookmakers and refused bets in many also, including Paddy's.

Met him a few times and he is sound enough, seems genuine.

I'd rather lose money to PP than any other bookmaker though.

They were the first bookmaker in this country to give back to the punter.

They were the first with carpeted shops, comfortable seats, large screen TVs, free tea and coffee, place only betting (to compete with betfair) etc etc.

Customer service is grand and 95% of their shop staff are sound and don't fcuk up bets.

Contrast that with Boyles or Ladbrokes, who have the most arrogant shop staff around and make you feel like they are doing you a favour by taking your business.

    I like 'em.

The odds are that he's a nice guy, but he wouldn't be my favourite.

Paddy Power hasnt grown to be the biggest bookmaker in ireland for no reason!its because of some of the reasons outlaw pete has given (although im too young to have known they were the first ones with carpets in their shops!).they are very customer focused as opposed to other bookies.

PP himself is a cool guy imo dunno him personally or anything but he is always funny when he's on channel 4 at the big races and stuff.
Powers are normally always the first to do money back specials and then other bookies just copy them.

Finally gotta agree with outlaw pete about shop staff in Lad's and Boyles my god they havent a clue..snatch the docket and money outta your hand.totally un-professional.

Paddy Power the man is just a PR job. The name came from the founders sitting in a pub trying to think of the name for their bookmakers. They looked around and saw two bottles of whiskey sitting beside each other: Paddy and Powers.

    Don't know the man.

The company lost a lot of respect from punters when he admitted on national radio that you can play with them as long as you keep handing over your hard earned wages.
However if you make a serious stab at winning some back you're banned.

Their odds are generally not that great. The more sensible punter goes elsewhere.

Seems a decent enough fellow, Only does what he has to do.

People who say the bookies never lose are wrong. The clueless bettors are the mugs, Not everyone is. If you spend time doing your re-search you can win money at it.

    I do.

Hats off to the guy he is running one of the most successful companies of today.. employing hundreds of irish staff. He is starting to break the uk market and I wish him luck.

People dont have to bet if they dont want to like people dont have to take ryanair if they dont want to.. yea he is making millions but he is also promoting Ireland 100% and Racing in ireland so whats the harm

he change his name by deed pole to Paddy Power after the company! He is a marketing genius, is guaranteed a job for life and has come up with some great money making schemes that generate the company a lot of free press!!

Fair play to Paddy Power an Irish company doing well for themselves.....

Eh no, his name is actually Paddy Power, he didn't change it! His father is one of the bookies that founded PP.

There were several bookies in our town and PP was the one that everyone went to watch racing.

The likes of Boylesports, Ladbrokes and Hacketts were utter kips, filthy dirty with toilets not far off Trainspotting.

PP had carpets, tea/coffee and good staff. And those novelty bets and money back were very imaginative and clever.

For sure bookies have improved their standards, Boylesports have some great shops around but they had to follow the trend.

Now I know most betters will follow the odds and happily go to each shop to get the best odds, dead right too. (rural town, no internet so it was walk to the shop, call or use teletext to check odds)
But nobody would choose to watch racing in some dive of a bookie shop if PP have something better.

I like their terminals so you can use your online accounts.
Paddy Power is a great PR guy and they realy are very clever with their campaigns, much like Ryanair. An Irish success story even if it gambling.

Having said all that, betting is for losers so apart from my annual bet on the Grand National I don't use these anymore

all this talk of people losing money to the bookies so 'f'uck them, wouldn't go near them' is a pile of s'hit.

plenty of people can and do make money from the bookies or at the very least break even. it is you sir, the bloke above, that bets on the grand national once a year, for the most part, is where they make their profits. if you play the odds, know a little bit about what your doing, follow the market or basically have some kind of workable system (that you'll only get by having an interest in the sport from the start and not mind losing small money in pusuit of that enjoyment) you can and will end up in profit yourself.

i've been taking my betting fairly seriously the last few months and am determined not to lose money with my pp account - and i haven't. in fact, i've made hundreds from paddy's since i've started.

and their cash card...f'uckin wonderful invention. my local pp is like my local atm these days!

Smooth operators, not far from being shysters, three card trick men, masters of the cliche and the all too glib sell Office staff rates have been cut back drastically while Management awarded themselves at least I.3 million each in bonuses last year. Would not be surprised if Kennedy and Co. were first name buddies of those in the so called Golden Circle.

Paddy Power make a margin of about 15% before tax. If bookies didn't make a margin there'd be no bookies!

Genius, I wonder why nobody ever thought of that?
    This might help.
