What can we poke fun at? Serial killers, sexual assault? All threads that have cropped up full of jokes with not one complaint in them.

That's double standards. The Mod who culled all the threads containing even the merest pun, made a joke in a thread about a girl who was sexually abused in a doctors office this morning.

That's what makes no sense to me.

Thats why they're mods, so they can get away wit the double standards

    Double standards indeed.

Poke away, buddy. I'll poke back, of course.

Plus, could you point out the logic to what you've just said - i missed it.

posters have responsibility too not to bring Boards down to a cess-pool level, even in the wide charter of AH's, again it is just down to how low a poster wants to stoop.
"Was it a stroke, or something different", wasn't excessively crude. It was funny, and brilliantly witty.

Enough with the bad taste puns already

People die every day. Some are famous/ semi-famous. Some are overweight & die of heart attacks. Some are freaky popstars who kiled themselves with over self medication. Some are little guys who die from a fall. All of them are sad, but to anyone who doesn't know them, hardly a tragedy.

A tragedy is where someone dies from malnutrition. A tragedy is where someone dies from hypothermia. A tragedy is where someone dies because they can't bear their life anymore.

But these are the stories that rarely make the headlines.

Yet, when it's someone that's famous who dies, there's always a public outpouring of emotion.

To me, there's something just a little f*cked up about that.

    Yeah well, that's human nature.
As is the misdiagnosis of tragedy, as is people getting pissed off at getting their jokes about Gary Coleman censured.
All part of life's rich tapestry.

What's f*cked is that people make public jokes about a death as soon as they know about it.

Also what's f*cked about AH.s is only the 'Important' or fickle posters get a thank You!:pac::pac::pac:;)

Sure, no problem. I found what you said amusing considering i got banned from the American Football threads for making a flippant throwaway remark to you that you took offense to before making a thread complaining about the lack of mods in that forum.

No big deal, just amusing to me.

Please report a post if you don't like it. If you have a problem with how this forum or any other forum on boards is modded, take it to Feedback. This isn't the place to discuss it.

But everyone's different (yes I know, different strokes etc) - it might seem abhorrent to some to post mild and non bad-natured jokes (big difference between that and full-scale annihilation) but others don't see anything wrong with it - what's being asked for here is that they don't post at all, but why shouldn't they? Only the AH moderators have a right to stop them.

I'd say instances of people thanking a post purely because of who posted it, rather than because of the post itself, are extremely rare.

    Are you serious?

That doc was preforming unnecessary examinations on patients to get sexual kicks.

The Mod posted a pic which implied that the first thing that that made him think of, was the goings on of a Carry-On movie.

That is not comparable to making jokes about someone on the day that they die.

Anyway, loved Different Strokes as a kid, many a happy time watching it growing up.

    Adiós

    What 'choo talkin 'bout death?

Cranky Mc Funhouse THANK YOU for reinforcing My point!

I shall now revert to the lowest common denominator "Yore Ma" comments to increase My thanked posts.

Last act of a dying person is they crap themselves, never could understand the Irish Mammy's obsession with making sure their kids left home wearing clean underwear in case of bringing shame on the family if they were hit by a bus:p:)

ah jaysus. ah no, poor gary. i'd say RIP but i always thought that was a kinda stupid thing to say, there's really no other way you can actually rest when you're dead.

why do people wanna justify making jokes about people who have just died? baffles me. is it because they're somehow a lesser person because they were famous? will the same people wanna make jokes about their parents when they die? or would they be happy to hear some brainless fcukwit make a joke about them?

Ah, sad to hear this, just read it on the cinematical site. Loved the show.

AH really needs to get some sort of policy on death threads. The exact same debates are becoming listless, lifeless and far too grave!

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

i can just see that in the charter.

Rule No 579 You may not take the piss out of dead people in AH until 12 hrs after they've gone (18hrs over the Christmas period)
    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Ok, I may not have been clear in my last post. so to make it simple, keep this on topic or bad things will happen.

    Thanks

From the treatment of the different threads it looks like Gerry Ryan was a 5 star celeb whereas Gary Cole was a 2 star.
Minor jokes about Gary allowed within an hour or so of his death (some later posts contained the exact same jokes removed earlier).
Gerry Ryan valued more as a human being so a total ban on jokes for a long period.

Looks like the litmus test for After hours will be the Maggie thatcher is dead thread.
    Should be interesting.....

I feel sorry Gary didn't always seem to get the respect he should have, and 42 is very young to die. His life couldn't have been easy, I hope he is at peace.:)

did anybody on that show have any luck? Poor guy....RIP little man

Danny Cooksey who played new step-brother Sam in the last three seasons of the show seems to be doing ok. He works mainly as a VO artist now, though he also played John Connor's mullety friend in T2.

    An episode with Sam.

Thought he was older tbh. Must have been younger than I thought in his Different Strokes days.
