Its absolutely crazy that in our current economic state that something relatively safe that could be taxed highly and would increase tourism isnt legal. All the money that leaves the country through shopping in Newry could be recouped multiple times by people from the North coming down for Cannabis.

Sure go ahead and post as if it does say that. At least it'll break up the standard pro/anti cannabis legalisation arguments that we've all been through a thousand times in here.

ok, well I think cannibalism should be legalised if both parties are consenting. Remember the story in the news of the bloke who advertised for someone who wanted to be eaten, and someone actually responded? He allowed himself to be killed and eaten, and when the killer was in court they asked him, Why did you eat him?" And the killer replied, "Because KFC was closed at the time."

Ì'd love a KFC now , fcuking imaginary munchies. Maybe I'll call round and eat one of my mates. Not in a good way for him.

Looks like the lethal dose of THC is higher than the lethal dose of chocolate. It takes 22Lb of chocolate to ingest enough theobromine in chocolate to kill the average sized man. Chocolate is not safe for dogs or smaller animals because their tolerance to theobromine is lower and the lethal dose is actually quite possible for the animal to eat in one go. ie a half decent sized box of milk tray is enough to kill a jack russel, a single smartie is enough to kill a blackbird.

Lets ban chocolate incase some moron takes the lethal dose.

Suprised at some of the people giving thanks to the obviously made up scaremongering brother story or did I miss the fact that it was satirical? THC didn't do him in, getting so stoned he choked on his own vomit did. Should we ban alchohol because of all the drunks that got legless and choked on their own vomit or fell and cracker their skull open?

Don't be silly. It was obviously a true story.

the stuff in the headshops is good then is it?

    Hi boardies,

So here is the deal. I dont drink, but I do smoke cannabis. For me it's relaxing and a great way to unwind. I work hard, I eat very healty, I work out 3-4 times a week. I went for a check up last week and the doctor told me I was in very good shape and had no underlining symtoms of any harm being done to me.

I supose the reason I a writing this post is that I am sick of the ****ing hipocacy that is in this country. Any time I go out, all I see is fat drunken bafoons. Any time I walk down the street I see some wino falling over the place looking for a change to spend on booze. Everyone I know drinks much more that the recomended amount, and the binge drinking epidemic has got 10x worse in the last few years.

So alcohol is clearly killing this country and it's good people, but some how, I'm the criminal. In order to feed my vise I have to meet up with some doggie person, and then try to eyeball the quality of the product I am getting and get ripped off. If I get caught with the product on me, I am the one who gets in trouble.

I get snide looks from people when I tell them I smoke weed, like they are better than me because they don't, meanwhile they are sitting there with BMI's of about 30 necking down another "pint" like there is nothing wrong with it.

Alcohol is the most dangerous drug of all, its kills 100,000 people a year from poisoning alone, that is excluding all the road accidents and violent incidences.

I'm a good person, am I not entitled to my vise? Why can't Ireland be a little bit progressive and actually abolish this ridiculous law. Millions of studies have shown that regular use of cannabis is harmless, so why is it still ****ing illegal? I understand all the history of how it became illegal, but why is it still illegal. Disregarding all the medical benefits, if its my body, can I not chose what I put in it?

The funniest thing is people all over the world still smoke it, nothing is going to change that. No matter the legal status, it is still smoked the world over in record numbers. Everybody thinks it's a stupid law, so why is it being enforced?

I'm not saying we should ban alcohol, in fact as a sober person I quite enjoy the company of drunk people on a night out, but what I am saying is quite the hypocrisy already. Either ban everything, or ban nothing.

Would love to hear your opinions people, especially ones that say it should remain illegal

The truth is often hard to swallow.

The history and efficacy of cannabis is well know and defend-able,... why don't the Healys-Raes of this world get it?

We could support the entire Irish health service from the taxable income from cannnabis alone.

Keep up the agitation, eventually someone in a position of influence in Europe, other than prohibitionist's, will see the logic.

It always fascinates me why people feel free to moralise on the part of others whilst at the same time insisting on access to their favourite drug. (Alcohol/caffeine/tea,nicotine, ect.)
Take away the alcohol/prescribed tranquillisers that the righteous enjoy,.... how they would bleat.

That brother story is obviously bullshít.

If somebody died from having a lethal THC level in their blood, you can be sure that the anti-drugs folk would be up in arms, telling the rest of us how they were right and that drugs will kill you blah blah blah...

MY BROTHER DIED AFTER OVERDOSING ON MARIJUANA

He was invited by the "cool kids" to hang out at some kids house whose liberal parents had left for the weekend.

My brother, always a moral and thoughtful individual, wanted to attend because it was one of those massive house parties that he'd never been to.

Well, as was later recalled by some of his friends at the party, he was pressured into smoking marijuana. He ended up smoking the entire pack of marijuana cigarettes.

Not long after he went into convulsions and started foaming at the mouth. The people at the party held back calling 9/11 for almost 10 minutes.

When the paramedics finally arrived they could do nothing to save him.

The autopsy revealed he had 3 times the lethal dosage of THC in his blood.

But I'm sure everyone here will deny my story and the fact that my brother died after smoking that illegal narcotic.
Im sorry, but just no. That didnt happen. "The autopsy revealed he had 3 times the lethal dosage of THC in his blood" He was hardcore

The only thing I have against legalising cannabis is that from past experience people seem to become a lot more dependant on it than alcohol. I mean they smoke like usually once every one to two days if they can, it just becomes involved in their routine.

I mean, yes, some people have a drink a day but that doesn't do much. Just one joint starts to alter your mindset. Also I want to add hash might not directly kill people but I have heard plenty of stories of people taking their own lives because of it, one such story I know personally. Thankfully my friend wasn't successful and is off it now.

I just don't like the whole "Sure it's fine for me so why not legalise it?" angle, anyone could say that about any drug.

Cannibis is one of the easiest of the common use substances that you can give up upon a whim.

I don't understand people using alcohol as an arguement for the legalisation of cannabis, all it is is an arguement to ban alcohol.
