Anyone ever eat half a tub of peanut butter in one go? I did yesterday and I'm really paying for it now, hardly been off the jacks all day.

Saw a report in some paper bout a lad called Kris Greene, former irish U20 rugby player, who is hoping to compete in weighlifting at the next olympics.
Apparently he was working out in a gym in loughborough and a coach saw his technique was very good and convinced him to switch sports for a while

He was at the squad training session a month or so ago iirc. Fantastic lifter, some speed on him. He's really only just come into the sport and has a ways to go but if he nail his technique he'll definitely be a great contender.

He'll have some difficulty competing for Ireland at London 2012, we don't have a National Team so we can't enter anyone :) (bar the Wild Card draw which I don't entirely understand yet...). He could qualify for the European's, Worlds or University Championships though.

I've met Kris in Hercs once before. He's a nice guy.

London 2012 is a bit of a reach in my limited weightlifting experience tho. I know he's only training what, 3 months at this stage and doing 90/120 @ 69, and I really hope he can do it, but it seems like a stretch.

EDIT: And he's fcuking massive for 69kg too.

Was doing a bit of looking around there and hes after adding 30kg onto his C&J in those 3 months and hopes to have another 30kg by the end of the year which would bring him close to 160kg. The chinese fella who won gold in his weight class c&j 190 in the last olympics, so there is work to be done.

Don't normally post in here but humour me-

I was at a muay thai fight night in Carlow and there was a bloke there taking photos. He said hi and addressed me by name and he's very familiar but I can't remember how or where I know him from. He was there with a girl who was very familiar too but I couldn't place either of them. Anyway, I asked my mate and he said they were fitness forum people which could explain it but he didn't know their names.

Any help? Are you mystery cameraman? Unusual request I know but I don't like not saying hello when people know me!

Barry that's a friend of mine, and that was me you saw with him :D I saw you too but you seemed to be there with a big bunch of people and I was too embarassed to go over and say hi :o

He trains with Chupasart and he'll be uploading the photos onto their website in the coming days. I'll tell him you were asking about the pics, is there a particular fight you want to get the photos of?

Chris is actually a mate of mine (he was recomending hercs to a pipe dreaming me :D!!). I cant remember if it is 30 kg or 60kg that he reckons he's off qualifying but knows himself how hard that is. Ye hes fekin big for 69 alright not a pic of fat on him neither

Srsly? 90kg to 120kg when you jsut started lifting is about 1,000,000x different than going from 120 to 150 with time under your belt. That's like me saying I've added over 10kg to my snatch in 3 weeks, so I should be able to snatch around 200kg by year end.

I don't know what his FS/BS numbers are like, but unless they're already very high, that sounds ambitious. Not that there's anything wrong with that... I still think I'll do 110/140+ by year end.

30kg on the total or 30kg per lift?? I assume it's per lift... And Hercs is a great spot alright!!

Not just a zimmerframe, a fecking rolling zimmer frame! And those full free standing ROM HSPUs are on parallel bars, hands to shoulders.

Ah gem I knew you were familiar! Forgive me it's been a few years. I was there to watch my bro Paddy Ivers win his title. Say hi next time I'm brutal with names and faces.

True, He isn't aiming to make gold in london, or even 2016. He is aiming to qualify. The difference between the 190 C+J of the winner and the lower guys is pretty big.

That was your brother? Cracking fighter and the title is well deserved! I'll definitely come over and annoy you next time so :D

Leave it with me about the photos, I'll find out when they'll be ready for public consumption.

"Not my real brother, I meant it the way black people mean it, which is more real somehow". Paddy is my training partner and mate.

    Do so.

That'd be great. One of the girls took about 1000 of the fight believe it or not and about 2500 of the night! But it's always good to see other angles.

Interesting atmosphere in my little gym last night.
There was a Big Bodybuilder, a Strongman and a Powerlifter training at the same time.

Plus me, I was doing Crossfits "Eve" so I looked like a really **** and stupid Weightlifter.

The Strongman was doing roundback Zercher Deadlifts.
There was also a gang of scrawny kids largely wasting their time.
They didn't know where to look. :)

Fair play lad, I work for one as well; although the crippling late nights on auto-pilot delivery leave a lot to be desired. CMP is a far superior brand to that Dublin muck though. (Even though it's all Glanbia...)
