Emmett Byrne on Off the ball last night saying he didnt think Sexton would be available for next weekend.

Leinster are exceptionally screwed if he isn't. They simply can't win the game without him.

Not sure what Byrne knows, but that's not good.

Beirne is a good player offensively, but he's a weakness in defence, and this was highlighted by a number of missed tackles last night. Horgan was poor in defence v Clermont, and I can't see that improving. Its looking like we're going to have too many holes, and at the same stage not enough penetration to win a high scoring game.

I have it from a very reliable source that Sexton will play against Toulouse.

Was at the game last night so didn't hear the TV commentary - why was Nacewa not playing? He was down on the team sheet at 11, no one in the crowd seemed to know why there was a change. BTW Keogh looks tiny for a pro rugby player, good bit shorter than Reddan (or maybe Reddan is taller than I thought...)

Nacewa's absence was a late team change, Setanta didn't elaborate further IIRC.

I'm a bit worried about Leinster's backline for the run in. They haven't really clicked all season (bar one or two noteable exceptions). I mean at the start of the season who would have bet Leinster would get no try bonus points in 16 ML games.

If you look at our 1st choice backline, the only player who has played well and remained injury free is Nacewa

    10. Sexton - 2 injuries during the season. May be back for the semi.
    11. Nacewa/Fitz - Fitzy has been out since November
    12. D'Arcy - He's had some niggly injuries during the year and also had dips in form around them. Will he be 100% going into the Toulouse game. I've a feeling he'll still be carry his groin injury.
    13. BOD - I don't think he ever plays @ 100% (injury wise)
    14. Shaggy - Was playing out of his skin until his mysterious foot injury. Isn't back to the form he showed earlier in the season.
    15. Kearney - He finally seemed to be playing his way out of his bad form when he got injured. Hopefully will be back for the semi.

Are we missing the good doctor or have the injuries and long previous season just taken it's toll?

Here's hoping the click like they did last year against Munster....

Our backs have had a disjointed season. Been rare for them to have a run together.

    Still worrying, mind.

    McQuirk to leave Leinster.

Words can't describe how devastating this could be for Leinster.

    Kyle Tonetti

    Wing :

    Ian Madigan
    Andrew Conway

I dont think Conway will be seeing much action at FB tbh with you.

Seems to be nailed on as a winger. The guy has unreal gas over the first 15m, which is essential for a winger.

Hope he keeps the head down and works at his game, could be a star in a few years.

Conway needs a year training in the Academy maybe even two to work on his defense, he's a not the biggest kid around and you his tackling wasn't up to scratch against Connacht and got easily stripped of the ball against Glasgow. Give the guy some time there's no need to rush him into things, he ll be a hit once he's given time to mature into a professional rugby player.

They talked about it on Setanta. He wants out of rugby altogether and he's going home to NZ

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,106 ✭✭✭andrewdcs

We need to clone him / extract his goo (as recently seen on SouthPark) to keep the skills in Leinster.
When does Schmidt start or will the hunt for a new defensive coach start now? Anyone great available?

    Ah that's awful.

Hopefully he'll be happy down there. Or unhappy and come back to us...

Gutted, but wish him all the best. One of the main reasons we won the HEC. His legacy will be the Quinn's match.

Any word on Sexton? With only a few days left surely there's a clearer picture one way or the other!!

What a glorious legacy for a defence coach. We'll miss him, a lot.

When is the squad being announced for Saturday? How's it looking for Sexton does anyone know?

Do you have a source for that or is it just idle speculation?

Kurt is leaving rugby for a while it seems.

If/Once he decides to return, he won't have to wait long for a job offer.
