Does not this passing of answers and questions make the whole thing back into the farce it was, where people knew the answers but hadn't a fookin clue where they actualy were... beats the **** out of me why it's allowed

It is something of a farce alright. Taxi operators in Dublin complained of cost of old licence and when it was opened up they complain of too many licences. The Taxi Regulator makes it harder to get a licence and they all complain again. The Taxi Reg. chops and changes the regs. and keep moving the goal posts and introduces rules that make no sense to the operation of taxis or cabs. The 9 year year rule does not take into account the initial quality of a vehicle. A Merc. is still O.K. after 9 years but there are other cars out there which are falling apart after 3 years. If a car passes the test surely it means it is up to a standard. All of these new rules seem to be designed to increase our operating costs. 250 e for a driving licence. 250 e annual fee for a Dispatch Operator's Licence which was not needed before , what happened to market forces ? Now we have to present a car twice a year for test (S.G.S. AND N.C.T. ) all time all money. We have a Skills.Dev. Test and the area knowledge has no bearing on day to day driving. Now we have Quinn in trouble. This means in effect on renewal that our insurance costs will increase 2 or 3 times the present. On top of all this it takes forever to get any paperwork through. Who in their right mind would pay big money for a car etc.and can only renew the licence every year and this would depend on your tax clearance ? I remember a taxman in Thurles in the 80's who gave us a hard time in road haulage and held back tax clearance certs. even when all was in order and his superiors instructed him to issue certs. We are into hard times again and the government needs its pound of flesh. Think on !

Hence why im getting out after a year. Its just too hard to make a living. The trouble with the rules and regs that have come in is a case of closing the barn after the horse has bolted.

what u should be doing is going over to these nice taxi men and asking them to stop smoking and stop blocking traffic.
Tell them u are going to post their numbers on here if they don't.
I know this rank u are talking about and the men on it are very nice and would love to here from you.

I wonder how his attitude will change once he starts driving a taxi. I think thats what he was saying in a previous post. Bang out of order posting their numbers.
