I used to use spell check but now i know bad spelling annoys people so much i dont bother.

There's a difference between being completely unable to spell and being too damn lazy to bother re-reading your post. You can very easily tell the difference between the two. I don't think either are a sign of intelligence, but I'll definitely spend less time looking at obviously sloppy posts.

A mate of mine can't spell to save his life because his education was sub-par, to say the least. His text messages used to be a complete nightmare to read, but since T9 became the standard, he's doing a lot better and often makes up entirely new and brilliant phonetic spellings for everyday words. If someone's writing was littered with lots of spelling mistakes then I'd be inclined to rate their intelligence lower. I don't really care if I'd be wrong in a minority of cases, I'm sure time would correct that mistake for me, but if you don't put any effort into something as fundamental as spelling I'm not going to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I like good spelling and it's always been a strong point for me. However, I wouldn't judge a persons intelligence on it. Now punctuation, or the lack of, really annoys me. There is no excuse for it!

I am so pedantic it actually bothered me to choose that option in the poll as it has grammatical errors.

I'm pedantic about everything, that's just the way I am and thus can't help correcting peoples spelling.

I'm pretty pedantic about spelling and grammar, but I don't think good spelling and intelligence are related. I know some dyslexic people who are extremely intelligent.

I do wince at txt spk and the likes. Recently I emailed a travel agent with an enquiry about a flight I wanted to book. The reply I got ended with "Do u want me 2 book it 4 u?" I went with a different travel agent in the end!
