Arrogant as ever in both blog and video , but he does make a good point on his blog..

"Note to the people who removed OtherOS, you are potentially turning 100000+ legit users into "hackers."

I hate that line, makes we want to punch him in the face for some reason.

I find it interesting how he goes on and on about how PS3 owners should have the choice about what they want done with their consoles and not Sony, yet when those owners choose to update and get rid of the Other OS he gets cranky because they're not doing what he wanted them to. Just goes to prove what an immature moron he really is, he's only doing it for the attention.

In the quote you posted further up, I think he only said that because he's frustrated that so many people have ignored his advice not to update.

When I first read it I picked it up like you ,but if you re-read you will see that he is aiming his scorn at SONY ("people who removed other OS").

I am not here to defend GeoHot , if you read my previous posts my argument (not specific to OtherOS removal or SONY) is with a Company removing (or having ability) a feature post sale .

Hm, I can see how you read it, but I still read it as directed towards the consumers and not Sony.

We'll agree to disagree on that one :)

LOL ..that statement from GeoHot works both ways , towards SONY , but can be perceived against those who updated .

Sony has never had a reason to ban a ps3 before this idiots started. Anyone read the terms of agreement on the ps3 what legal measure can prevent sony from instabricking all cfw ps3 when they deserve it.

I'm with mixednuts on this one - he is saying "Note to the people who removed OtherOS", as in the people in Sony who made the call to remove Other OS.If it was being said to the generical public who updated, the rest of the sentence would make no sense? Think you're reading too much between the lines....

Sony will only ban people who install CFW/3.21OO.... this 'idiot' isn't forcing anyone to use his CFW/other os support. At least he put the effort in to do it after the Other OS was removed - and he did it in little time too, during which he was getting consistently abused/hate mail on his blog.

While you can argue that Other OS may still be there if it wasn't for him - noone really used it anyway. At least now people will have a choice on their PS3, PSN or functionality. And unlike in Sony's other os, now the other os will have the potential to be worthwhile using...maybe we'll even get 2d acceleration :D

Oh Jesus, someone now backing Sony's right to f*&k with a system that someone had already bought and paid for..........

Sony have themselves covered. Ever read the terms and conditions in the XMB and every firmware update. "Sony reserves the right to make changes at any time to this product".....yda, yda etc......

Its no real loss anyway, it wasn't even a proper feature that was in anyway way useful.

    Already been there.:pac:

They do ban accounts for abusive behavour not sure if that locks out your PS3 totally i would guess it does. Its just not as big a problem as on xbox.

I would think Sony could ban a PS3 but not brick it. You can't just break something belonging to someone else because you dont like what they are doing to it. It would be like BMW sneaking around putting sugar in petrol tanks of people who put those god awfull spoilers on a BMW.

Again, we'll agree to disagree on that point

This is interesting first person to get a partial refund on their 60gb PS3 without having to send it back. Amazon have refunded him £84 as he quoted european law.

Link doesnt appear to be working the whole site is down at the moment.

Did you see the video down the bottom?
Geohot has cracked 3.21 and has OTHEROS working on it..

IS this old news or what did i miss?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

2 or 3 days old. However to get it working you have to have NOT installed 3.21 in the first place, otherwise it's useless.

    My bad....

Would you trade in your PS3 60GB for £84 ? 20% of purchase price just to stick it to Sony?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

He didn't give back his console though, he got the money free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭eddhorse

My second bad, should have read the whole post.

Fair play to him so !

Fair Fooks to him ... Hackers or no hackers , SONY have no right to remove a feature from a sold unit .
Hopefully the start of something big .

Fair play to getting back the OtherOS but i hope its not the start of something big.

He didnt get anything back other than about 100 euro. I think it will start a swell of people looking for money back and that will end up being passed back to Sony to pay.

I think he was talking about GeoHot getting OtherOS back, not the guy that got a partial refund

This firmware patch will be rolled back you can be sure. Consumer law is completely against Sony and Amazon are putting the ball in their court. If they persist with this firmware then they will be getting a bill for tens of millions.
