Plus not to forget that when the Dutch realised they couldn't hold off the Serbs that the Bosniaks inside the city turned on them aswell, IIRC there were a few Dutch soldiers killed by the Bosnian side.

Seriously though, if a pissed off Serb army was coming at you with tanks and artillery, you're lightly armed and few in numbers, gay, straight, black, white, purple you'll fight back as best as you can. Absolutely ludicrous claim to make.

Problem is they didn't fight back. To do so would have been largely suicidal anyway but there are reports that Ducth soldiers were present and witnessed men and teenage boys being summarily executed on the street, and that Dutch soldiers watched Serbs raping women and girls and didn't intervene. Of course it's hard to blame the Dutch, they had asked for help and support and had been left to their own devices.

True, but they're a UN force so they're caught between a rock and a hard place. I was saying more on a general point that regardless of sexuality, a person will fight for their survival. If the Dutch were part of a NATO force in Srebrenica it would have been a different story.

I agree. They were left staring down two barrels. Sexuality, nationality, as irrelevant as what kind of haircuts they had. Pointless blaming the Dutch batt.
