Wow its really disapointing to see so many on here happy and willing to shell out so much money for this. Well there is not a hope in hell im going to pay that amount.

Just because they say "this is how much we are charging" doesnt mean you have to pay it. I wish people had a bit more fight when it comes to things like this.

I agree somewhat in what you are saying but at the same time , are you one of those people who pay nearly 30 euro a month fr line rental (one of the highest in europe), We also pay a lot more for our broadband and tbh our broadband is pretty bad, lets talk about how much we pay for vehicles , a lot more than other countries.
The point is there are far more important things to be boycotting than a downloadable content , you have a choice , you can buy it or not , where as if your only option of broadband is dsl , you have to shell out 30 euro rental fee for nothing.

So we should boycott our dsl lines? Not buy cars? I think the point is more that it's an artificially inflated price not one driven up by a country's inflation.

Modern Warfare 1's 800 point map pack had 3 new maps and 1 "classic" remake (Chinatown, which is a redo of Carentan from CoD1 but with new textures, lighting, etc. only the layout stays the same unlike MW2's pack) and each of the World at War 800 point packs had 3 maps and a zombie one so this is out of line with standards the series has already set for itself. It's pretty much 400 points for one more MW1 map.

The price'll go down in a few months anyway, probably close to Call of Duty: Vietnam's release or it'll be thrown in a bundle with Map Pack 2 for something like 2000 points. The classic maps are not worth it tho, anyone using a PC could have imported them themselves (if they'd allowed dedicated servers) so they could have thrown in all the MW1 maps if they'd wanted to for little to no extra coding. I still have Modern Warfare 1 anyway so I'll just play them on that if I want to.

So "Everything" you had read about the map pack was one post on boards? That crap has already been debunked anyway!

Here's one site that suggests extra DLC apart from maps. All I'm trying to say is maybe wait until we know exactly what is in it, before jumping to the usual bitching that goes on.

    http://www.modernwarfare247.com/news/stimulus-package-30-day-exclusive

    http://www.modernwarfare247.com/news/stimulus-map-names-revealed

"We also expect the "Stimulus Package" to feature new challenges and callsigns for you to unlock, as suggested by Infinity Ward Community Manager, @fourzerotwo », after a lead meeting in January."

Its inflation rightly or wrongly , be it by country or company, last time i checked eircom is not a state company, so my point is if your going to bit*h over the price of a downloadable content, look at how much your getting screwed at home , hope that makes a little more sense to you.

How will the price go down when the cod 4 maps are still 800ms and its 2 years later , tryerch brought out 3 map packs each at 800 ms , then later gave a bundle deal for all 3 fro 2000 ms points , presumeably for late comers.

Imo classic maps are always worth it, i too still have mw1 , i go back and play it from time to time but most of my mates dont have it anymore.

Once again its all speculation on to the pricing and whats included , the only thing i know for sure is that it is supposed to be called an expansion pack, instead of a downloadable content , which makes me think there will be more than just maps.

I get it, I just don't think it applies here. There are alternatives to Eircom, you can get your internet/phones from UPC if you like for example, or just use a mobile.

I think you just answered your own question there, they'll go down to 800 points and/or be thrown in a bundle. The World at War bundle for all 3 map packs was only 1600 points last week on the Deal of the Week scheme too.

I think it's just the maps, all else is speculation probably fuelled by people not being able to believe Infinity Ward would hike the price up without justifying it somehow.

    From here: http://www.modernwarfare2.com/news.php?id=6
"The multiple Game of the Year award-winner Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just got bigger, with more epic multiplayer content, first on Xbox LIVE! The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package will deliver additional action-packed multiplayer maps, including brand-new battlegrounds and legendary fan-favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare."

It's been confirmed elsewhere that it's just the maps too.

There are alternatives to eircom for some people only , there are more people who cant get upc than those who can.

To be honest with the WAW your waiting 8 months to get 400 ms off,I'm more inclined to get them when they come out.

Fair enough i didnt look to see if it was confirmed.

Hers a noob question for you, how do you split up the quotes like you did with mine ?

If it's one big block of quotes, you need to get manual on it's ass. As in you need to go in and use the quote /quote tags around the different sections. For example using {} instead of []

I probably won't wait 8 months, I'm hoping they'll be discounted or bundled with Map Pack 2, which would probably be the summer.

I changed my post as I didn't see Shawpower's link. Joystiq have a bit on the Xbox Live description, but callsigns and icons are meaningless to me. Never bother checking other peoples at all. http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/15/modern-warfare-2-stimulus-package-costs-15/

I just copied and pasted the Quote bit to the start and end of your words, so with roundy instead of square brackets: (QUOTE=Shammy;64938704)Hers a noob question for you, how do you split up the quotes like you did with mine ?(/QUOTE)

Your actually comparing a games over inflated DLC charge to that of cars and broadband? Yes we are in a rip of republic but unfortunately we have to put up with it. Alot of people need broadband or cars for work myself included.

This is just one company thinking they can charge whatever the hell they want just because its MW2. Sadly it looks like they're right.

People dont need this dlc they are just happy to pay crazyily over the odds for it.

Itl probably be the same people that went out and bought the oblivion horse armour

Ok lets put it this way , battlefield 1942 was one of the first arcade games for 1200 , rest are usually 800.
You bought that , why were you not going to boycott that ?
Activision are watching everything , if people are going to pay 1200 for what usually costs 800 for an arcade game , they will surely test the water and up their price for the d/c.

Battlefield was a big step up in terms of arcade games for me. It was the first one I bothered buying. Activision are the same publishers who wanted to have the RRP of MW2 at €70.

Now they charge 15 quid for a few maps on top of that. Greed is a terrible thing.

If the spec ops missions and cheevs and stuff that were originally rumoured to be in the dlc then, regardless of how much I give out about the game, I'd probably be tempted to get the dlc. But 1200 for 5 maps which will at least have 1 map thats crap is way over the odds. If memeory serves me right the last dlc for gow2 had alot more maps and the extra level and every dlc had new achievements with them. As I was fanatical about gow the price never bothered me so obviously withh the masive fan base mw2 has, the new dlc is gonna be a massive seller and this is jsut the way things are gonna be priced in the future.

I fully agree agree with you , it is greedy , but at the same time because it has a massive fan base it will not get boycotted . If it wasnt mw2 i wouldnt get it but it is and i get value out of this game.

15 quid robbin shower of fecks. And Ill bet it will be like WAW where you get kicked out for not having the maps.
Im wondering if I could get my 45 quid back that I spend on the bloody stupid game in the first place.

My god I thought 15 euro for five new maps was bad. Now ive found out theres only three new ones and 2 from last years one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,970 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

Well if I remember playing COD4 if your mates didn't have the map packs they got kicked as well so I'm sure it will be the same for this map pack, if you think about it its clever in that your friends will be forced to buy them if they want to play. WAW had a better system in the last couple of map pack releases they were kept seperate and not added into the main map rotation for a couple of weeks.

    just checked there.

    at live codes

you can get 2100 microsoft points for £16.99, use code LIVECODES22 and you get 50 pence off. coverted to euro thats just under 19 euro.

You are using 1200 to get the maps. leaving you with 900 points.

So just under 57% of the cost of 2100 microsoft points.

That works out at just under €11.

So it really isn't that bad when you think about it.

Also you can buy just 1200 points on there own for £11.45(will be in stock on friday) which is just €12, but i think the extra points isnt bad.
