I think they should make something extra for those that Prestige. I mean, something like 4 killstreaks instead of 3.

You should earn extra class slots... oh wait..

4 killstreaks wouldn't work for the reason already mentioned.

3 new maps for 1200 points, hope Jason West and Vince Zampella win their lawsuit, Activision are a bunch of greedy ****s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,351 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

In some ways you almost have to admire Activisions brazeness. They know that people will pretty much pay whatever they charge and so looking for close to €15 for three new maps will mean more money for them. It's all part of Bobby Koticks 'fleece the ****ers for every penny' business model and while people will grumble and moan about it, they'll also suck it down and had over their cash.

Personally I'm glad I traded it in for Bad Company 2

Where are you getting the "3 new maps" info? Everything I've heard so far talked about 6 new maps with extra challenges/titles etc.

That would make no sense. The already stronger players would be able to effectively kill the game (nuke) in a matter of minutes, end of MW2 MP.

So it isn't 3 maps for 1200 points. It's five. Just because people played them on COD4, doesn't mean they won't be fun on this game. (I never played COD4, so don't have any opinions about those 2 maps in particular.)

It's funny actually. After MW2 came out and people played all the maps, people were posting on here saying how great it would be if they released some COD4 maps for MW2.

Now the DLC is nearly here, they are releasing two COD4 maps and people are complaining about it!!

I cant wait for the dlc to come out , be it 800/1200 i enjoy the game and am looking forward to the cod4 maps. I would have nearly preferred if it was 6 maps from cod4 , There is a reason cod4 won game of the year for 2 years running and the maps have a lot to do with it, just a pity , blacklot , ambush and district arent coming over as well.

Re: COD4 maps, I liked CRASH alot, wasn't mad on OVERGROWN, but I think more so because I never did well on it.

It will be very interesting playing OVERGROWN now though, especially with thermal attachments.

So long as they don't do what they did in WAW and bring you into the lobby of games with Maps you don't have, I don't care. I won't be picking up the maps myself.

I got all the maps for COD4 and WAW when they came out, they were all 800pts. But I think I'll stick to BC2 from now on

That post is all just speculation and as it says here http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Stimulus_Package - "Despite rumors of the inclusion of other new content such as Special Ops missions, Challenges, Callsigns, Perks, and guns, Infinity Ward has given no indication that the Stimulus Package will include anything besides multiplayer maps. "

Confirmed on Major Nelson's podcast as 1200 ms points. 5 maps, 3 new + Crash and Overgrown from MW1. Slight tweeks to re-made maps to allow for differences between MW1 and MW2.

Its official, the maps are gonna cost 1200ms points..Before i found this out i was willing to buy it for say 800ms points but for 15euro,No thanks..i started a rant a while back that prices of stuff on xbl are getting too much..This is a prime example..15euro for 3 new maps and 2 old is not worth it

    edit:linky below

Way over priced for the maps which I already have. So you want me to pay for maps that I already own and paid for previously? Yeah sure that sounds reasonable.

Oh hello mr wallet inspector, I've written down my pin number and my mother's maiden name for you, hope everything is in order.

Whether this is Microsoft's doing for passing on the costs of exclusivity over PC and PS3 to fans or IW/Activision taking us for the ride I won't be tempted in the slightest. Well not until there is some Spec Ops content on the horizon.

It seems to me that IW/Activision are becoming the like EA of old for 1st person shooters, rolling out yearly updates with little or no new innovations untill someone else has done it relying on fanboys. They're just forcing formerly loyal customers away to BFBC2.
    Sorry for the rant btw!

I was asked to post a link to where I'd read about extra bits as well as maps. That's all I did. I'm not trying to confirm the validity of it or otherwise. [shrugs]

majornelson.com and listen to this weeks podcast, from 48 mins on for about 10 mins. A guy from IW (no idea of his name, couldnt be bothered rewinding) gives a rundown of 5 maps and a bit of their development etc.

    Priceless

    COD MW2 = €45
Total hours game play (to date) = 200

Price per hour = 0.225 cents

I won't lose sleep about paying an additional €15 for another 50-100 hours gameplay.

I imagine most people who said that meant
"wouldn't it be great if they released the maps from CoD4 to MW2 ...for free"
as they are not new and considering the money they have made you would imagine this would not have been a real stretch for them.

No matter how you sugarcoat it, 15eur for 3 new maps is bullshít. I would imagine this is a taste of things to come.

Im off to Bad Company, I assume EA is a small time operation and would never dream of releasing over-priced DLC

Yeah, i'm not even going to pretend that I won't be buying these maps the second I get the chance to.

I'll get 2 or 3 weeks out of playing those 5 maps on their playlist alone, so in that respect I've no issue with paying 15 bucks for them.

When you paid for something you already own and have to buy it again that's fair is it? You can justify it fianancially for the amount of hours you put into the game but that might not be true for other people who play more casually. Why not give out a remake or a new map for free like Bungie did with Cold Storage for Halo3?

At least in COD4 you had no people boosting calling in nukes; now you can tarnish the memory of those booster free days in MW2! All for the low low price of 1200 M$ points! Bargain!!

PS: I wonder did they leave the map exploit in Overgrown just to keep it authentic?:mad::mad:

Its usual now that a sequelwill bring out some mapsfrom the orginal one ,Graw , graw 2 .cod 4 / mw2 , i think gears did it as well.
Lets face it , you can complain all you want but in the end thats the price ,buy it or not, Bit*hing about 400 ms points (the difference between 800 and 1200) seems a bit petty.

Best of luck on Bad company , just like the first , its not really for me . Too many kids wanting to get into the tank.

That's actually a really good idea. It would keep the boosters, hackers and modders away from everyone else and the game could be fun again.

Terrible idea , there would be more boosters than ever doing it ,4 killstreaks instead of 3 , yee haw now we can get that nuke quicker. As for hackers and modders its got nothing to do with them either way.

They should have it so if someone gets at least 10 kills on the same person, a big arrow glows above their head that everyone can see.

Not a personal attack but its people like you that will make this sort of pricing an ok thing to do for future games.

If everyone boycotted it in a month or two theyd lower the price.

No way in hell am I paying that.

Its Activision ,and its the way of the world i'm afraid, for a game as big as this and with a huge population playing it, they can charge what they like.I choose to buy d/c for whatever game i choose.

Once again because its a massive game everyone will not boycott it.But if your beliefs are so strong i'm sure 8-12 months after its brought out they might do it half price for a weekend like they did in cod 4.

You dont have to pay for it if you dont want to, but if your in a room and the host has the map pack and one of the maps come up , then your going to get kicked out if this continues to happen you'll probably end up not playing the game at all, therefore wasting 60 euro, or whatever you paid for it.

Did this happen to ye in CoD4!?

I didn't buy the map-pack for that and I never once got kicked from a lobby, it was just a rule for that lobby that no DLC maps came up!

Wow its really disapointing to see so many on here happy and willing to shell out so much money for this. Well there is not a hope in hell im going to pay that amount.

Just because they say "this is how much we are charging" doesnt mean you have to pay it. I wish people had a bit more fight when it comes to things like this.

I agree somewhat in what you are saying but at the same time , are you one of those people who pay nearly 30 euro a month fr line rental (one of the highest in europe), We also pay a lot more for our broadband and tbh our broadband is pretty bad, lets talk about how much we pay for vehicles , a lot more than other countries.
The point is there are far more important things to be boycotting than a downloadable content , you have a choice , you can buy it or not , where as if your only option of broadband is dsl , you have to shell out 30 euro rental fee for nothing.

So we should boycott our dsl lines? Not buy cars? I think the point is more that it's an artificially inflated price not one driven up by a country's inflation.

Modern Warfare 1's 800 point map pack had 3 new maps and 1 "classic" remake (Chinatown, which is a redo of Carentan from CoD1 but with new textures, lighting, etc. only the layout stays the same unlike MW2's pack) and each of the World at War 800 point packs had 3 maps and a zombie one so this is out of line with standards the series has already set for itself. It's pretty much 400 points for one more MW1 map.

The price'll go down in a few months anyway, probably close to Call of Duty: Vietnam's release or it'll be thrown in a bundle with Map Pack 2 for something like 2000 points. The classic maps are not worth it tho, anyone using a PC could have imported them themselves (if they'd allowed dedicated servers) so they could have thrown in all the MW1 maps if they'd wanted to for little to no extra coding. I still have Modern Warfare 1 anyway so I'll just play them on that if I want to.

Here's one site that suggests extra DLC apart from maps. All I'm trying to say is maybe wait until we know exactly what is in it, before jumping to the usual bitching that goes on.

    http://www.modernwarfare247.com/news/stimulus-package-30-day-exclusive

    http://www.modernwarfare247.com/news/stimulus-map-names-revealed

"We also expect the "Stimulus Package" to feature new challenges and callsigns for you to unlock, as suggested by Infinity Ward Community Manager, @fourzerotwo », after a lead meeting in January."

Its inflation rightly or wrongly , be it by country or company, last time i checked eircom is not a state company, so my point is if your going to bit*h over the price of a downloadable content, look at how much your getting screwed at home , hope that makes a little more sense to you.

How will the price go down when the cod 4 maps are still 800ms and its 2 years later , tryerch brought out 3 map packs each at 800 ms , then later gave a bundle deal for all 3 fro 2000 ms points , presumeably for late comers.

Imo classic maps are always worth it, i too still have mw1 , i go back and play it from time to time but most of my mates dont have it anymore.

Once again its all speculation on to the pricing and whats included , the only thing i know for sure is that it is supposed to be called an expansion pack, instead of a downloadable content , which makes me think there will be more than just maps.

I get it, I just don't think it applies here. There are alternatives to Eircom, you can get your internet/phones from UPC if you like for example, or just use a mobile.

I think you just answered your own question there, they'll go down to 800 points and/or be thrown in a bundle. The World at War bundle for all 3 map packs was only 1600 points last week on the Deal of the Week scheme too.

I think it's just the maps, all else is speculation probably fuelled by people not being able to believe Infinity Ward would hike the price up without justifying it somehow.

    From here: http://www.modernwarfare2.com/news.php?id=6
"The multiple Game of the Year award-winner Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just got bigger, with more epic multiplayer content, first on Xbox LIVE! The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package will deliver additional action-packed multiplayer maps, including brand-new battlegrounds and legendary fan-favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare."

It's been confirmed elsewhere that it's just the maps too.

There are alternatives to eircom for some people only , there are more people who cant get upc than those who can.

To be honest with the WAW your waiting 8 months to get 400 ms off,I'm more inclined to get them when they come out.

Fair enough i didnt look to see if it was confirmed.

Hers a noob question for you, how do you split up the quotes like you did with mine ?

If it's one big block of quotes, you need to get manual on it's ass. As in you need to go in and use the quote /quote tags around the different sections. For example using {} instead of []

    {QUOTE=Shammy}There are alternatives to eircom for some people only , there are more people who cant get upc than those who can.{/quote}

{QUOTE=Shammy}To be honest with the WAW your waiting 8 months to get 400 ms off,I'm more inclined to get them when they come out.
