    Here's my story to date.

Got home around 7ish and started the download straight away. Had to leave at around 7.45 and it hadn't finished, so left the XBox running.

Got back home around midnight, and the download had finished. Cue excitement.

Started up game, and had a private match around Bailout and then one in Crash. Just to try to get a feel for the maps before going online. Anyway, after 10 minutes of running around empty maps, I had to jump online and try a game for real.

Queue disappointment when I realised you couldn't play the maps in the regular game options, only via the 2 Stimulus ones. Oh well, we'll try that then.

So jumped into regular Stimulus. Scanned for available games, and found zero. Scanned again and found zero again. Hmmmm. Tried to join session with a few mates. Nope, server full. Scanned again, and I got dumped into a game of HQ on Bailout, that was 2/3 finished at 160-10.

Queue some running around with out really knowing what I was doing. Scored something like 4:8 or something. I'd got thrown in with some randoms against a US Clan, and we were raped 200-10 by the end. Overall impression was that people had found their favourite camping spots already, as a few times I got picked off by guys camping under Snooker tables etc. Anyway, after this game, I dropped out cause the Clan were just going to rape the randoms again, and that ain't no fun.

Okay, so not a great experience then. I thought I'd try again. After some more empty scans for games, I got into a game of Capture the Flag on Salvage again about mid way through. I'd not played this map at all, so was quite lost. After quite a few quick deaths, I finally started getting some kills, defending our flag. But then I realised that we were losing 2-1, and I'd run out of ammo with my TAR, and only had a stinger as secondary. I ventured out and got a sweet knife to steal a ACR from a deadbody, but died shortly afterwards. I kept trying for the oppo flag, but without knowing the map at all it was a lamb to a slaughter.

After that game, we were due a game of HQ again on Salvage. But just as it was about to start, I got kicked out. Not sure what happened.

At this point, it was 12.40, and I wanted to get at least one decent game before going to bed, so went back out and tried regular TDM. Again though it had problems finding any matches. Tried to start one on Wasteland, but after finding about 6 people it just sat there and eventually everyone got bored and dropped out of the lobby. So I had to scan for another game. Again, it found no games for a few scans. Finally I got dumped into a TDM in Derail that was about 1500-1200 so not too late in the day. Managed to pull off a 15-7 game.

Was going to try one more, as the lobby seemed full of Irish (4 green bars which was nice), and also a lot of low levels. So I thought I'd get a good game and set my killstreaks to 7-9-11 to see if I could really get on a streak. Just as the lobby was set with teams picked, I got kicked out of it again. Then I realised I'd been kicked out of XBox live completely, and that I couldn't connect at all. Was connected to my Wireless router, but not the net.

So I went to bed, not at all impressed with my €12.65 worth of DLC.

I suspect that most of the problems were down to the huge rush for the first few hours/days etc. and my XBox live problem may have been down to the storms last night and my wireless broadband... But I'm a bit worried about the complete lack of games that my system was finding. I hope that isn't a problem for long.

I won't get to play at all tonight, so hope that the creased are ironed out by Thursday evening.

I couldn't get into any MP matches initially, but after the CL game, was in a party with 5 lads and no problems. I'm liking Bailout & Storm, Salvage to a lesser degree. I've played Crash and Overgrown in COD4 already.

There was always going to be one or two issues on the day of launch, considering the millions of gamers all trying to download the map pack and get some action.

I noticed quite alot of the gamers I was playing with and/or against last night were Irish.

    Linky

Interestingly, the Stimulus Pack coincides with a title update that brings much-requested local-host-search functionality to the game. Layman’s translation: you’ll no longer have to be subjected to ignominious lag-ridden death from douche-nozzle Americans. This Stimulus Package has appeared on the cusp of what could well be a MW2 second renaissance for Australians. We, for one, recommend perking up and checking it out.

Yeah I noticed that too.. Think I was in a random match with another boardsie, Jev N last night.
I didn't really have any problem with finding a match.. tho there were a few disconnects

Yeah, I had mentioned that too. Good on one hand cause we get less 2 bar games and more 4 bars. Bad from the point of view that there are less of us playing so maybe that's why it wasn't finding many games to join me too... Presuming this isn't a large problem going forward, then this would indeed be a great plus for the game.

As you say, opening day is often fraught with problems, so hopefully the bugs will iron themselves out.

I hammered it for over 2 hours last night , Overgrown is the same , i dont seem to like it as much as i used to , Crash is te same too , good map , as for the 3 new ones , excellent , salvage is small , great all round map for running around , Storm is slightly bigger but it too a very good map , Bailout is a large map i didnt think i'd like it but since its only objective games being played on it there was little to know camping, plenty of room for indoor or outdoor fighting.
Overall i'm very happy with the three new ones , and as for the other 2 , well there the same as they were i guess.

so over all are ye happy with the new maps ?

i'm on the ps3 so will be a month before i get to play them. i did not really like most of the downloadable maps for world at war, and for cod mw broadcast and chinatown were decent, but creek was terrible IMO and don't think i ever got to play a game of killhouse online (played mostly hc snd and some team deathmatch)

The maps look too cartoonish. Too much colour saturation. Still fun tho.

Thanks be to God someone else thinks this.
Was playing Crash last night, and couldn't put my finger on what was different for ages, then realised it was the colours. As you said, I thought the exact same thing..way to cartoonish.

Very wierd running around Crash at high speed with lightweight on as well.

I'm liking the maps so far, takes slightly longer to get into a game though but i can deal with that if it means less laggy games. Enjoying Bailout most of all, certainly is overpriced though IMO.

I bought some cheap points online, did the maths and I believe I paid €10.20 for the DLC. It does seem like a lot when you consider buying the full game - single player, spec ops and multiplayer - for €40. That said, I've no doubt I'll get my value from it.

The same price as 2 pints of beer. Do people think twice about buying 2 beers? You p1ss the beer out an hour later.

Your getting 3 new maps + 2 popular maps from COD4. I suspect you will get more than 1 hours 'enjoyment' out of the DLC, without the hangover.

I did mention something about getting the value out of it.

Thanks for your charming beer analogy all the same.

I wasn't really talking about you specifically (although I quoted your post), it was more in response to the the general moaning tone in the thread over 12€ miserly euro.

    Ah yes, apologies.

The thing that frustrates me is that it is very clear that there is a market for a persistent FPS. One that doesn't bother with sequels but can keep a community alive through regular maps and playlist updating, guided by community feedback and charging DLC at a reasonable level.

How sweet would that be? Imagine the game you buy this year will be even more feature-packed next year. I thought Infinity Ward would have been the ones to do it, given that there were MMO rumours at one point.

I think we are a few years off but it could be something special. Slightly OT, sorry.

Intersting you say tht. I could have sworn I saw someone withcing last night on the new maps. You know like before they fixed the care package glitch. this one lad was legging it about the place and practically teleporting when melee attacking. anyone else seen this ?

Would like that myself. Like TF2. It was released 2007 and is still getting new weapons and maps. But its not going to happen for COD. Too much money to be made.

Has the double XP been extended to old maps yet ? I need to get me into some exclusively double XP S & D games. 1000 XP a kill, 2000 per head shot:D

I did my first ever S & D game yesterday on (Storm? - The warehousey one, that's not Crash, Salvage, Bailout or Overgrown) and managed to get a round-winning kill on a tenth prestige lad. He was howling down his mic after the game.

Bloody stressful way to learn a map though.

I'm not liking that the only 2 availible playlists are Stimulus or Stimulus Hardcore. I'm not one for S&D or any of the tactical based games (espically when your be paired with randomers). Though I did really enjoy a game of Domination in Crash last night (think its domination, one nuetral bomb, game time 20 mins). Epic game

Nah that's Sabotage. Domination is where there's 3 bases and you need to capture/defend them.

Sabotage can be fantastic when you've fairly balanced and up for it teams. The game can last ages as well :)

You're damn right there Joe. It's also frustrating looking at the last man on your team faff about and then get killed by the same guy that team mates have been warning him about over voice chat.

    Really don't like that mode.

It all seems to be working OK again now, for me at least. MP actually seems to run much better after the patch. I have full connection strength for all matches, which almost never happened before.

When you click to play TDM, how many suitable games is it finding? For me, I rarely got less than 20, but last night it was getting only 1. When I got into a game eventually I got 4 full green bars or 3 at least. So I'm wondering if we're going to get better connections, but on the flip side get less available games when we search.

Yeah last night I only got about 1 aswell. Also the game lagged all night for me so I just shut it off.

It does take a bit longer to find a game. But nowhere near as long as it did last night.

I've had terrible problems connecting to Xbox Live and finding matches. It just sits there trying to find games.

I like the map pack though, glad to see Overgrown and Crash. Haven't played on Crash yet. I wonder will the maps and double XP be on all game modes by tonight, doubt it.

I wasn't big on the playlist with all the game modes on random but it's not too bad, except Search & Destroy I'm not the biggest fan of that. I don't hate it, but it's the last mode I'd play.

Heh, it's potentially fun, but I normally only play team deathmatch, FFA and domination.

Tbh, I've played some of the funky modes with a few mates, and it's a good laugh, but it's so much effort to be even competitive, so I really don't like having to do it with random people.

    Aye, had similar problems today.

Used to get between 20 and 30 out of 50 potential games, now getting between 0 and 2.
