I'm normally a more LOTRO RPG player and have only ever
tried battlefield 2 a few times with some buddies at work.

Got Bad Company 2 Friday and finished the single player mode and loved it, It reminded me of Far Cry 1. (2 was pure sh1te)

A bunch of lads from work have a team so am hopeing to
maybe play with them once a week.

Only problem is getting that Punk Buster PBinit failure
message every time I try to join a multiplayer server.
I did all the manual updates etc but nothing has worked.
Got 3 kills on one map but every other attempt at joining a game I got booted out.

    Looks like fun though.

erm.. isn't the punk buster only supposed to kick people who have an illegal copy?...

Bought my one fair and square, cycled 4-5km on my lunch break to the nearest game store and picked one up Friday.
Was shocked at how fast they were selling everone in the queue ahead of me was buying it on various platforms,
and even this really old dude who was about the same age
    as my grandfather.

A few different of games have had the same problem Legit copys that its. The issue made the daily inquirer today.

I got that too in number one, and if i understand fully what you mean, the second one you will like better, friendly fire doesn't exist:) the way I read your post T is that in the first one people used to go blue on blue, so annoying but you can't do that in BF:BC 2:D

No, I actually prefer having the ability to have Blue on Blue - it means you (theoretically anyway) cant go blazing away at everything that moves. Thats why I only play hardcore on COD. I know you get dickheads who think team-killing is great fun, but annoying as it can be, its not that common.

By Rambo, I mean the guys who spawn and then charge off up the map without giving any thought to the objective. I've only played a little BC1, and got fed up with the BC2 demo pretty quickly, because there was no team work or communication involved. I know its a lot to ask, especially of a bunch of strangers, but its the way five or six of us on here play COD hardcore team DM - we communicate, and lock down areas, and usually wipe the floor with the opposition. Except when Moggy is playing with us anyway, him being a weak link n all :)

What format do you play on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

    somebody mention Farcry 2 :o:o

the only fps where you could walk around a huge map for over an hour and not meet any enemy's or fire a shot ,

though it did have weapon jams that could blow up in your face

O right, yeah first one was liek that too, but know what you mean so annoying too... although sometimes people cope on at the last base, I had that once in the first one, my team was getting hammered and then we all pulled together and started killing all the other team, like really badly, had snipers everywhere taking out players with RPG's trying to hit crate from range, was so good. It is more fun with friends but with strangers, like you said it is difficult to expect from them...
but hey it onyl a game ( I know kinda weird for me to say that after a text that prob had more words then my english essay:P )

    hey,
Im writing an article about airsoft for an assignment and I need to get some good perspectives on it. (I play with the DCU society)
so, its easy to find info on airsoft sites, just wondering if anyone has seen any newspapers/blogs/anything giving an outsiders view on it? negative or positive. Just want to see how its generally explained to the public.
If I think the finished article is good enough I might send it to a one of the college magazines too see if they'll print it.

The little fella spent an hour watching battlefield BC2 videos on youtube and it became his hew "thing", so i had to leggit up to the game shop and pick one up for him. single player looks pretty good so far, although i havent managed to pry the controller from his fingers yet, its a lot more fluent looking than the demo they released but i'll know for sure when i stick it online. will let yas know what its like. :)

It's actually very easy to port maps over from previous versions of COD, or so i've been told by map makers.

Sure COD2 has more maps than MW2 players combined IQ, the pc version anyway.

Another reason why PC > console, well used to be, till they killed PC's with lack of Dedicated Servers.

right, got bfbc2 today, finished the story mode (like the gob****e i am i forgot my store credit card so couldnt afford xbl, that'll come tomorrow)
its feckin great craic:) stupid in a die hard movie sort of way but brilliantly entertaining, some very fun parts
the skydive bit is deadly, aswell as the tank mission

graphics arnt so shiney but i put that down to my 17" tv:o
judging by the online demo, multiplayer will be deadly too, just going to be hard to find people who are team players:pac:
ill let you know how that gets on tomorrow:)

    Multiplayer is "ok",

the game is plenty laggy and it isnt as smooth as some of the competitors, theres loads of good things though from the helo's, tanks, quads, UACV''s etc

Its also not really a game you can jump in and play alone, it works best if you are acting as a team instead of a lonewolf operation but so far its not bad.,

picking up a copy on weds got a feeling of another xbl marathon coming on

Personally, i wouldnt go mad and rush out for it, maybe buy it preowned when its cheap or something, i wouldnt have bought it myself only the little fella wanted it.

PS, theres a hardcore mode were ya dont have to paint people with rounds, really enjoyed that and started to get the hang of the game then. With some luck they'll sort out the laggyness and it could be a good one.,:)

Downloaded the demo but found the controls really sluggish, does the full play like the demo controls wise?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

yeah you need to turn the controller sensitivity up to maximum.,

That doesn't look Irish - check out the ATM at the bottom of the stairs in the centre of the shot, haven't seen one like that (not like the usual ones you see as stand alones in petrol stations and the like). What d'you reckon?
