What flavour did you get, or which is best if you got more than 1. I like Teriyaki sauce on meat.

Fair play for even attempting the V-diet. I'd say you'll never want to see protein powder again. Are you using your own powder or did you get the whole shabang from bb.com?

you get used to it i guess.
I dont think id be able for the actual hard core v diet where you eat one meal a week.
im doing it the way Dan John said to, 5/6 shakes a day, one proper meal and a shed load of supplements.

I got all my stuff from myprotein.

Biotest ran the V-Diet to sell supplements claiming it cant be done with other supplements.
    yes it can

i have tried all three flavours
no real difference bwtween classic and original, have to say, like them both

teryaki is nice too but sometimes you can get a bad sachet or two

How far are you through it Liam and are you seeing much in the way of results?
Scrap that I've just looked at your log!

I knew Dan John had talked about doing it, has he started it?

    he did both.
the original V Diet and his own version of it.

I lost 9kg in 4 weeks doing the DJ version of from Dec 28th to Jan 23rd
took me from 118.8kg down to 109.7kg

i then followed it again for the next 3-4 weeks but in a more half assed way, rugby, birthdays, sessions on the beer kinda sidetracked me.
however, i still lost another 3.7kg or thereabouts

so i'm in or around the 106kg mark, gonna be really strict for the next 4 weeks and i might just creep in at 99.9kg on the day of the nationals.

Hmm I'd only seen the "proper" biotest version. 9kg in 4 weeks is pretty amazing. How much did you end up spending on protein and supplements? I've had a look but can't find a specific Dan John version anywhere. There's a 20 odd page thread on t-nation, is it all in there?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,981 ✭✭✭✭Hanley

    i wanna be 99.7

weighed in at 109.7 at the single lifts
down to 106.5kg or so now
    its possible, maybe................

It's possible, but don't be surprised if you see a huge drop in your strength.

the 20 page thing on t nation is a report on how DJ got on doing the V Dier proper.

His version of it was explained at the DJ seminar in IPG back in December so thats where i got the info.

    The diet is like this
07.00 get up, cup of coffee, 2/3 fat burners and 30 min LIT walk

08.00 protein shake, multivitamin, fish oil, 3-5g of L-Leucine

    11.00 shake

    13.00 shake + fish oil

    15.00 shake

17.00 dinner, meat and veg (no spuds, rice, pasta)

    preworkout: creatine

    post workout: shake

23.00 shake, fish oil, ZMA, sachet of beer jerky (my own addition)

As for how much i spent, to be honest, it was a good bit.
i bought around 8/9 tubs of protein, 3 tubs of fat burners, creatine, 120 packs of beef jerky, bag of L-Leucine
probably spent around 500 euro but that'll last me about 3 months
and i saved a LOT of money as i havent been buying regular food

I already have seen the drop, pain in the ar$e.

    went from benching 100kg x 7 to barely getting 92.5kg x 5.
the squat and deadlift dont seem too badly affected

Is it against crossfit policy to list a price on their websites. Any crossfit center close to me have no price listings.

Yo Drifter - what kind of Jiu Jitsu is it? Brazilian or Traditional? Is their striking in it or is it all ground work?
Also for the running, there's better ways to get conditioned than just straight running, try some of the Crossfit stuff, if you're looking implement some resistance training into your routine.

its waza kai jujitsu....basically jujitsu designed for street defense...alot of striking in it!!

im not reall using the running just for conditioning...im enjoying it and im doing it with some of my best mates so its another way to get to spend time with mates in my stupidly busy life....i was talking to L on gmail about this recently...im thinking im going to look at ways to improve my flexability over the coming months with an aim to being able to do some of the OY lifts

Cool stuff - you'd be surprised at the amount of people who still run only, as a way to improve their conditioning...

I must actually start again - injured myself last week so not really training this, may tempt fate and go for a run!

    Hi,

I am just wondering what is crossfit? I usually just run for conditioning (although laid up by injury atm)

Is it better for overall conditioning?

    Thanks

    What L said.
    Or e-mail one of them.

I note your use of the word "any" which coupled with the word "close" suggests that you live near sandyford. :pac:

    Thats a FAIL.

although running is good its not the be all and end all.....im enjoying it...im outside and im in good company..lifes about the little things....

im by no means done in a gym...ive just other options now..

the 4xjujitsu and 3x running appeals...but id like to get 2 gym sessions to improve flexability in aswell over a few months then maybe look at some OY type stuff and some crossfit stuff....

I was training powerlifting by myself most nights and coming out of work and burying myself in a power rack was grand for a while....but it got a bit boring...so change time!

They probably won't tell you unless it's in person. The idea is that a high price posted on line means very little and just scares people away. They're so used to seeing say $60 per month that $200 seems incredibly excessive - but then ya have to take into account all the coaching etc you're getting.

AFAIK most US Crossfit gyms are charging in or around $150 per month?
