still being good, hardest places are

    1. shopping and trying to avoid the sweet aisle and looking at the 2for1 offers on biscuits / pringles!
    2. biscuit morning at work....every Friday at 10.30, take it in turns to buy biscuits, ~50 in company and budget is about 30euro....there was me eating grapes the other day!

Saturday very hard, always have something nice (i.e. humongous bar of galaxy or dairymilk) after dinner. Yesterday? bowl of strawberries, raspberries and grapes. Bugger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,340 ✭✭✭TFBubendorfer

Give me strawberries, raspberries and grapes over a junk bar anytime, even if I'm not off sugar!

After yesterday's race they had some sweets. I pocketed some, and gave them to my kids afterwards. So far so good.

What was really hard was bringing the family to Murphy's Ice Cream and restrict myself to a cup of tea while they were all enjoying their ice creams and tarts! But I told myself, if I make it through that, I'll make it through the entire lent.

All the while I have lost 5 pounds without going hungry once and can see a definite improvement in my running times, which makes it all worth while.

12 days going strong. Find myself eating WAY to much bread. Replacing my sugar fix. Cutting back this week. I want to lose weight if I am going to be so hard on myself.

Was only thinking along the same lines myself this morning - eating way more bread than normal. Will give it up next Monday I think.

Question for ye... Any exemptions for eating something you've pledged to stay off? I do my Viva this Friday and if all goes well, I think Id like some cake over the weekend....... Exemption allowed or not??

Why wait till nxt monday ????
Not a hope on getting exempted. People will be asking to have their paddys day soon.
Just realised i only had one bagel today and no bread. Happy days.

em... NO EXEMPTIONS not even Paddies day. If you do you are out!!

13 days without a biscuit, I thought I'd be going stir crazy but its getting a little easier. Now when I go back on them I'm going to have to ration myslef to 4 at a time rather than a 10 at a time.

Eating a lot of cereal and crackers with jam lately...

Just to get an extra 5 mins sleep this week and less temptation to hit snooze I ironed 15 shirts in a row on Sunday. A flippin hour of ironing!!!!

According to post on saturday, UL student broke then too, just adding that. I am still off the crisps, though lack of running and several days boozing has meant I have actually put on about 3 pounds over lent  hope to get it to drop off over the next few weeks.

I had one of those crisis of conscience moments yesterday when I wondered if tortilla chips counted as crisps. Erred on the safe side and stayed away from them.

Just realised that if I last to the end of Lent, I'll be back on the crisps in time for my taper week to Conn :D

Another unexpected hurdle yesterday while shopping.

Since the start of lent I have always walked past the sweet shelves in the supermarket keeping my head down. That was easy enough. But yesterday the missus asked me to pick up a few things, including oatcakes and muffins, and they were in those same shelves and I had a good look at everything that was on display.

I came very close to cracking. That little devil on my shoulder kept whispering into my ear that I had already lost 5 pounds and I should reward myself for yesterday's race and one chocolate bar would taste soooooooo delicious and would hardly make a difference ....

Eventually I managed to find the damn oatcakes and moved on, pledge still intact. Boy, that was a close one!

I can't believe it, because of my bloody blabbering and lack of attention yesterday at dinner, before I knew it, I had emptied the salt seller onto my dinner  Pure force of habit (and lack of concentration). Stupid me.

Best of luck to the rest of you, stay strong (stay alert :o).

I can't believe I haven't had crisps or coke for nearly 3 weeks. :D It's definitely become easier. I haven't lost any weight though... the lack of running has seen to that

I'm the same as yourself. On a postive note we would be really fat now if we had kept eating the crisps too.

Busy on here today - this thread fell to page 3!

I spoke too soon above about it getting easier. I had a day of feeling sorry for myself re injuries and even had thoughts of throwing in the towel altogether. I then stood in the crisp aisle in the supermarket looking to see if they had my favourite roast chicken walkers sensations  Thankfully they didn't so the pledge remains intact.

Closest I've been to breaking point :(

    this is like confession.

It was my birthday and my Bro's OH arrived with her speciality Jamie Oliver chololate orange brownies baked for me... I had had the worst week in nearly 3 years and it would have been just rude not to after her going to all that trouble....

Now what I am trying to do is do it all in moderation.

    Alas I'm out.
