Its probably a sad commentary on where we find ourselves but i'm taking great heart from ME's comment - "snowfall very unlikely at lower levels but not impossible". They didn't, absolutely, 100% rule it out! Yipeeeeee (relatively speaking)

View of low system from top of Carrantoohill :pac:at 1pm. The system will continue south along the western seaboard before stalling and drag showers NE over Munster tonight.

Owen. You need more than favourable (3c is not favourable) air temps to see snow.

    Anyway, read the ME post.

Cloudy in parts of the west and southwest, with showers or longer spells of rain - turning heavy in places, and giving falls of snow on mountains (snowfall very unlikely at lower levels but not impossible). Dry over the rest of the country

You are NOT getting snow tonight.

By the way, surfing the net and came across this pic of an angry kid. Ain't you is it?

Would I be right in thinking 8pm onwards is a good time for this to fall if we want sneachta?

above 200-300m is a good place to be tonight if you want to see snow rebel.

It will be marginal at lower levels but should the precip be intense, there is a strong possibility of seeing snow here.

As stated earlier, cork, clare, s galway, limerick and kerry are in line to see the heaviest precip tonight.

    noon tomorrow

    Owen,

You ask the same question ten times. We give you answers ten times. The problem is that you do not accept the answers given. I have reported you for showing utter contempt for the rules of boards and spirit of this thread. Should the mods deem you are not in breach of the rules then I will accept that.

However, I do not intend answering your incessant repetitive questions anymore.

set up for thursday night. Precip most likely to affect west north and, to a lesser extent, east coast. Temps will be a couple of degrees down on what they will be this evening so potential for snow at lower levels will be greater.

    h850t850eu.png

on friday night, there are indications that a band of sleet and snow will effect the southern third of the country and the east coast as it tracks NE.

According to hirlam the east of the country can expect little or no precip right through the week.Very poor snow conditions too for low lands, only night time falls i feel if any, but can change.

yes, it would appear the all-knowing su campu and snowaddict were right about this week. as both the bbc and irish forceast show no sign of a real wintry outbreak at lower levels over the next few days and into the weekend
i thought by thursday we might have a feed of arctic air if the low had done the decent thing and buggered off to allow a proper feed of arctic air in. we may get wet snow at night but hard to see anything accumulating lower down.

Since the end of the cold spell of weather in January, the models have constantly pushed out the potential for widespread snow to a week or so. Most are now indicating the potential for snow towards the end of the week which is just 3-4 days out. Don't lose all hope yet Nacho. Who was it that said: don't turn your back on snow?

Guys what is the warmest upper temp that would support a snowfall ?
