Also, did anyone find the phyllogenic bee experiment in Biology frustrating?
I would have much preferred to do it on my own.....Its so hard to get to people to think the same way about something that's subjective!

That was so annoying, in the end my partner and I just did ours separately. Has anyone tried doing the whole blind watchmaker thing yet?

I want to avoid handwriting mine if possible as my handwriting amounts to nothing more than interesting squiggles to most people (including me unfortunately):p

I doubt that they'd be to suspicious as plagiarism is unlikely with the experiments.

Yeah the biology was a pain in the ass! Was so fed up at the end i just gave up!

I wanted to kill someone after it. I thought the key was a breeze but the phylogenetic trees drove me crazy. Especially the shapes. Stupid stupid shapes. Although I wouldn't mind an exam question on it to be honest. Once your logic seemed consistent it was easier

For the record, it's been 4 years since I did the bumblebee practical, and I STILL remember how horribly infuriating it was...

    I love not doing Biology.

    I love not doing Biology.

UCD biology seems to be worse, 35 per cent of our Animal Diversity and Evolution module was dedicated to a 5000 word technical report on Trout Diversity in Ireland. Needless to say I didnt do it........

Learned an obscene amount about trout sex though *shudder*

    Then I dropped Biology :D

    I love not doing Biology.

I dislike BY1102 so much I was contemplating deferring and starting over with physics. I just hate plants and animals.

Phew, how glad am I that I didn't do biology in first year! I dropped maths and physics after first year because I hated physics and maths wasn't going to get me much further in my career choices.

I took up Biology 1 and 2, which equates to 8 modules in the restructured course. I'm quite glad I did too.

I have a fear of bees too...

    Apex...can ya help?

In the pendulum experiment, how do I calculate g for the compound pendulum? Do I have to find I or IG? Hlp PLs!:D

Hey Jammyc, you're looking for neither.

You've plotted d*T^2 against d^2 right? Fit a line to it in Excel and tick the equation box so you it gives you the slope.

    Look at the formula T = 2*Pi ((k^2+d^2)/gd)^(1/2)
i.e. equation (2) in the manual.

If you square that formula and rearrange it slightly it looks like:
    d*T^2 = (4Pi^2/g)*d^2 + (4(k*Pi)^2)/g
Which is basically the equation of the line you plotted (you know y = m*x + C). So if you know your slope "m" then...
see where I'm going with this?

How long did it take you to reach that state? I've been here 15 minutes and already feel like that, wondering if it's too soon to give up. :pac:

Get anywhere in the end? I gave up after an hour, gonna go in early tomorrow and give it another go, though I'm not overly confident.

I'm pushing my luck with the lobster but the star fish is pretty cool.

Aye, very hard to know where to go/stop with the lobster. Meh, I'll worry about it when I wake up. ^_^

The guy that's marking me is ****. He gave everyone 5 out of 5 last week for the phylogenies and dichotomous key but me and my lab partner only got 4.5! I expect the same tomorrow even though you should, by right get 5 for even getting anything REMOTELY like what you've been asked.

The lab demonstrators in Biology take things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. It's quite stupid tbh.

Someone sitting next to me in the computer room today got full marks for hers, so they seem to be fairly liberal with it.

I wonder how many people will coincidentally have these exact two fossil histories at their labs tomorrow...I know I will.:P

Couldn't actually find the program online when I looked. Though I didn't look that hard. :pac: Would've been handy to have it.
