How can it be overcome? I deleted anything I had recorded from a channel changed name as I couldn't watch them.

When a channel name changes you will get a no longer subscribed message when you try and view a recorded program - if you phone UPC they will correct this - there are more details on the UPC website

I have yet to find skyARTS what number?

and should I have FX and Good Food?

Sky Arts 1 is only on the cable digital max package on channel 141 between ITV 4 and Alibi. FX and Good Food have not been added yet but it is rumoured they will be by the end of the month.

Sky3 makes ITV4 look like a half decent channel, and that is not saying much. :o

UPC seem to be going down the 'quantity over quality' road.

According to the price change leaflet that came out in my bill this week it says that Sky Arts 1 will be available to all digital packs but it's telling me when I put the channel on that "Access is denied" ! so I wonder what the story is there

Checked out Wikipedia yesterday (granted it is easily editable) at about 2pm and it had the following numbers per channel below:

    139 - FX
    143 - Challenge
    144 - Watch
    145 - Yesterday
    227 - Military History
    229 - Crime & Investigation
    503 - Good Food
    506 - Eden
    510 - Bravo2
    514 - Blighty
    621 - Cartoonito
    622 - Disney XD

Checked at around 4-ish yesterday and the page was back to what the EPG is currently. Checked to see if it had changed again about 20mins ago and it is still the current EPG, however it will be interesting to see if the channels listed end up on channel number location on EPG. Thought it was interesting to share considering UPC adding channels to their EPG like hotfire at the moment.

Looks alot like the Virgin lineup. New channels always welcome. I'd say theres a lot of filler on those channels but still some good programming. Now for them to push getting the Sky HD channels?!

Agree that is a Virgin line up - I expect Good Food to be on 503 and the gap from 137-140 to be filled by any other 'new'channels.

As for Sky HD - cannot see Sky making the channels available anytime soon - indeed expect Sky to up the ante shortly in the battle with UPC

I'm sorry in advance if this question has already been answered but I read through some of this thread and it's a bit confusing.

We've had NTL for ages now with the Sky Sports package and one of those old boxes and no recording facilities. It is now costing €64 per month (€30 for sports and €34 for Max package).

I now see on the NTL website that for new customers this costs €64 per month including digital +.

Is it correct that I would have to pay €5 more than this to upgrade to digital + or is it possible to get it at the same price as new customers? It seems a bit unfair to have to pay more than new customers for the same package.

    Thanks

They will try to charge you the extra - ask to talk to the complaints/loyalty dept and they may waive it as they did for me recently.

Did the leaflet contain details of the other channels to be added and when they would be added?

I contacted their Sales about a similar price discrepancy, was told by the Sales guy to take a screenshot and send it to Customer Service as it wasn't right, did that and they replied.. "Thanks for your e-mail I have forwarded your request to the Sales department and they will contact you shortly...". Well over a week, looks like I'm caught in a loop

Hi CO19,I never got that letter and I am on the Value+ HD pack.
I just called the UPC customer service department armed with your info, and was informed that Sky Arts1 is only available on the MAX pack and will never be available on all digital packs. Not calling you a round shooter or anything, but are you sure that is what it says on the letter? UPC don't think so and they sent out the letter.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they try to give you the runaround. Sure let us know if you have any other developments.

It wasn't a letter it was a little price change notice thing that came in the bill and yep definately said it, I read it a few times :D must have been a misprint so by the sounds of it:( I was shocked when I read it myself cause I presumed that it would only be available on the max, had an idea that it wouldn't be available on the value.

Cool, why not call them up and demand the Sky Arts 1 channel in lieu of the text on the price change notice. As you have it in writing, you are legally entitled to to this service. Call Freephone 1908.

    Good thinkin,might just do that :) .

A slip of paper included with the bill does not constitute a formal offer so unfortunately UPC are not legally obliged to give you sky arts for free. For the few extra euro I think the Max pack is nearly better value anyway

Letter received from UPC today - the only additional channel to be added is FX...

Don't know where CS got Good Food,Watch & Yesterday from - maybe in time.....lets hope!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21 WayneBRFC

No mention of Sky Real lives... gave up on asking CS... you would think they would want to promote the services they have

btw the letter I got made no mention of a price increase and i don't where they advertised this on their website because I could not find it in December

Sky 3 and Sky real lives coming shortly

Sky Art & FX coming soon

Wish CS had been right - prefer Watct,Yesterday & Good Food to the dross of Sky 3 & Real lives....

I was just checking the E.P.G. (Chorus cable version) for today and on the ITV4 listing for 6.30 this evening(Guinness Prem. Rugby highlights), the details say " Not available in the Republic of Ireland". Does this mean that the channel will have blocked access at this time?- which would be a first for U.P.C. This is the programme presented by Craig Doyle, but I was able to watch a repeat of last weeks show on the channel on Wednesday(?) in the clear. Perhaps rights belong to another channel at weekends.

Have noticed this channel is blocked for certain programmes. Darts coverege was blank screen for most of last night(7pm to midnight). E.P.G. says 'not available in R.O.I." Tournament coverge takes up most of this afternoon and evening schedule. A.F.A.I.K. no other channel has irish rights so, perhaps, ITV haven't updated their rights contract yet? The blank screen reverted to programme at midnight even though darts was still on air. Is it the case that upc are trialing technology? perhaps a requirement before launching other channels?

Hey folks this has prob already been posted but I was on select extra with skysports addon, my monthly bill came to 60 quid. Tried to change onto that "sports lovers" package or whatever it's called on the website which is 58 a month for the exact same package and the website told me I was already on that, rang CS bout it and they switched me over no problem, was done and dusted in a few mins. I know it's only a couple quid a month but the point is that the CS team didn't try to screw me like I thought they would so for anyone out there who reckon they're being overcharged as an existing customer vs a new package it's definitely worthwhile ringing up. I was certainly pleasantly surprised with the results.
