Fair enough budget so far imho. Nasty and awful but necessary.

The SW bill hasn't been cut by nearly enough.

No cut for the majority on 204 per week, keep minimum wage jobs not worth working.

how short sighted is this. cutting my pay means i won't be spending quite as much in the local economy. i'll bencutting back on eating out, drinking in pubs, buying luxury groceries. I will be buying cheaper presents at christmas and buying online. And I am one of thousands no doubt doing the same. So how exactly is that going to help the economy and private business?

If people over 24 are found to be refusing work offers it gets cut to €150. Or at least that's how I read it as.

Anyone refusing work should be have their allowance cut and that should have always been the way.

I'm sure it will be cleared up in a bit but unless there is a system that is offering people jobs a la the Job Centres in the UK then this will just be abused.

Under 21s without dependents down to €100, under 21-24s new applicants down to €150, anyone over 24 who is found to be refusing work or not trying to find work down to €150. I hope the last part is policed well as I feel it's a big problem here.

    reduction of EUR1,800 per annum.

    This represents approx 5.2% reduction

I may have missed some parts with all the moaning in the background but it seems like petrol is the only thing that's going to effect me so far.

If it continues like this, it'd be grossly unfair if I escape with just a dearer tank of full.

    Edit: And cheaper drink.

    He mentioned the "smart economy".

    My response: LOL.

    That is all.

Any mention so far if the three-year tax exemption on new LTD companies (with earnings under 40k) will be extended?

Can't find the budget on the dept's website yet.
