Neil delamare, des bishop, Pj Gallagher and Tommy Tiernan are funny. Though feel Tommy Tiernan's material of late has been poor.

Oh yeah forgot about Dara O'Brien. He is funny live.. Have seen David Doherty live. He was ok - average.

Has anyone been to Brendan Grace this summer? Was always a fan but saw him a couple of weeks ago and was most disappointed. Couldn't hear well because the speaker nearest to us wasn't working. My husband mentioned it to the sound guy (not Brendan's usual guy...) and got zip for his trouble. He seemed to prefer to be texting or something on his phone. Opening act was good, but again her vocal was buried in sloppy sound. For that money you expect professionals!!!

Hey, we agree with you about Brendan. Bunch of us girls went to see him recently and while he was funny, we all thought there was something not right with the sound. He seems to have changed sound companies 'cause his old sound guy was brill (and a hunk ), but this guy seemed he wanted to be somewhere else....and he should have been, too! We still think Brendan is one of the best out there, because none of us are impressed with anyone who needs to swear to try to get a laugh. Hopefully he'll rethink whatever he's changed.

I think Andrew Maxwells DVD in belfast was hilarious! I hated his first DVD though. However- anytime I've seen him perform live I've usually cried with laughter:D

Awesome: Dara O Briain, Dylan Moran, David O'Doherty
Tolerable: Colin Murphy, Neil Delamere, Andrew Maxwell, Ed Byrne, Tommy Tiernan (early stuff only)
Rubbish: Katerine Lynch, Brendan O Carroll, Pat Short, Brendan Grace, Des Bishop, David McSavage, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Maeve Higgins and so on....

Ireland is pretty crap when it comes to comedy. Especially compared to the stand up comics and comedy shows made in the U.K. RTE has to take some of the blame too. Imagine RTE putting out a show like Brasseye? Not in a million years!!

Des Bishop ( You seriously needs some new material ) That heating emersion joke is getting old!Ed Byrne, Andrew Maxwell, Tommy Tiernan, Joe Rooney
    Brendan Grace, Dave McSavage

    Yours thoughts pls!!!

yeah definately agree, Jason byrne is crap, cannot understand how he get any gigs. I agree with all your top choices of crap ones except ed byrne, he's quite funny if you see him live. des bishop is crap, andrew maxwell on UK tv a few weeks ago!! terrible and you could hear a pin drop after some of his gags. there's a reason Mcsavage hasn't made it yet, lets hope it stays that way. Joe rooney, very repetitive, saw him years ago an he is still crackng the same david bowie song jokes!!

jarleth reagan is terrible actually!!! he's a bad snob with terrible material. If you watched his program made during the scottish comedy festival, you'll see how bad he is at impromptu comedy. dylan moran is superb, gifted if you ask me. I think the whole of the panel should be scrapped!!! theyre crap and why do they have extremely unfunny girls on the panel, like mareid farrell (spelled wrong). Now they have that david mcwilliams as the host??? are you for real??? he must think the public have realy warmed to him. OK david you said what needed to be said, we get it, but stick to economics, you've no sense of timing and an even worse sense of humour and rapport!!!

he's so far up his own anus that he'll be putting his name up for the late late next. I suppose it couldnt be any worse that pat kenny realy!!

    Rant over

    Hi all,
I used to go, religiously, to the International Bar, when a lot of these guys were starting out, round about 1992 / 1993, specifically Dylan Moran,Ardal O'Hanlon, Eddie Bannon (whom I like) and a few others (the fellas off Apres Match).Dylan Moran hasn't changed his style, jokes and routine since then.He still wears all-black, his delivery is simply a rant and his accent is Meath 4 (D4 delivered thru clenched teeth with a culchie lilt). What he delivered in Black Books is identical to what he delivered in the International, so long ago. I saw him in Edinburgh in 1999 and , essentially, he was the same as in 1992.Never again.

Dara O'Briain....very sharp, very clever and the next Terry Wogan(that's bigger than Jesus in the UK).
Jason Byrne......Nah.Doesn't do it for me.Some one posted that he was like a student comedian and that's bang on.
Tommy Tiernan.......very clever individual and mostly, very good.probably the best of observational comedy.Should be kept seperated from Hector to retain comedy purity.Hector should be immediately shot, with a ball of his own ****e or marooned on Rockall as a service to humanity.
Des Bishop.......very good but now a bit laboured.By all accounts, a decent human being outside the comedy circuit.

the crew on the panel? Dunno.Maxwell has his moments of brilliance but Murphy and Delamere, well, I won't be buying there DVDs for Christmas.

    regards
    Stovepipe

    Dylan Moran

    Worst:
    Brendan Grace
Daniel O'Donnel (theres no way hes for real:p)

    Best:
    Dara O Brian
    PJ Gallagher
    Dylan Moran
    Colin Murphy
    Neil Delamere
    Jimmy Carr
Graham Norton - (He does count because he was a comedian first.)
    Jason Byrne
Brendan Grace(You can't beat the golden oldies)
Dave McSavage(He is brilliant in the Savage Eye)
    David O'Doherty

    On The Fence:
    Andrew Maxwell

    Worst:
    Katherine Lynch(Can't stand her)
    Tommy Tiernan
Hector O........O........O.......oh whatever... you know who
    Patrick Kielty
    Des Bishop
    Maeve Higgins
-The fella that does Mrs. Brown, it's the same thing over and over again, it's just pure annoying now.

That is just my opinion. Everyone is different and i for one love anything funny. The people i put on worst list have yet to make me laugh so for that reason they are there. The On The Fence bit is where the comedians i'm not sure about go and Andrew Maxwell has earned his spot. Hope i don't make any of you's angry with my choices.:D:D:D:D:D:cool:

    That show makes me cringe.

Dylan Moran and David O'Dotherty are fabulous, although Dylan can be slightly repetitive but still a massive fan.

Loved Tommy Tiernan in the past but he has gradually got more and more irritating over the years, can't stand him now.

Not too keen on Maeve Higgins or that Hector fella either.
