we've had a few second places (close ones) at a bigger prices(advised) with PWE with Psi at 11/1, captain cole at 16/1, Parnykle at 14/1 and Nikola at 16/1. If all of them came thru we would be rejoicing but they didnt.

We've had some hard luck this month.

Pricewise also had a second and third placings in one race both we're at 12/1 advised. They have also had another second placing at around 5/1. Also to be noted was Mourilyan coming third in the melbourne cup which was also a Tom Segal PW selection. All those placings came within 4-5 days.

I just watched the race on ATR he was brought down at the first. It looked like a horse fell about 3 or 4 lengths in front of him and when he jumped the fence he landed on it.

Thats it I'm finished with this until evidence suggests I should bother again.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 241 ✭✭pizzor

    3 out of last 32
1 out of the last 29
6 races in a row where the horse has failed to finish (either unseated or fell)

Got a feeling they will pick 1 or 2 winners before the end of the month, this is PWE we're talking about this can't last forever.

I've been a lurker on this site for some time now - and not for the reason you're probably thinking!

I make an additional income from punting. My approach is loathed by a lot of people (I produce my own tissue and back horses I consider 'value') but it's something which appeals and is fruitful.

However, what I want to say is that the Pricewise columns are obviously doing very well. What, 'well?' I hear you ask. Well, yes they are.

Of all the people I know making any profit at punting, the biggest return I've heard about is roughly 15% a year. That figure includes losing months - just the like the one you're experiencing right now. So for every £100 staked, if you're making a 15% return on investment, you're getting £115 back.

It seems to me that lots of you are making a return of bigger than that - in total! Therefore, stick with it and ensure you have a 'bank' that can accept long losing runs. Everyone has them. I think it helps to try and view the losing run as inevitable and accept that things 'should' improve over the long term.

For example, on Saturday I had a number of bets which were close to being successful. Biggest bet of the season on Starluck, backed Saphir des Bois at Haydock, backed Imperial Commander, backed Kia Kaha... all traded close to 1.1 and in some cases lower - but it just happens. It's not anyone conspiring against me, just a run of events which drove me mad. This month for me a loss of 2-3%. However, looking at the last 2 years I've made a profit. Nothing to write home about but something to see me through the losing run.

Your losing run is just that.. probably. View your wins as like stacking up coal in the winter. Your losers drain your resources, but just make sure your store is healthy and don't start trying to steal next door's coal.

    Best of luck everyone.

This is not an advert for Pricewise, honestly. I read the boards to see what he's picked knowing that if I've got one in my book I want to back and the PE team tip it, I'll have to get my money on quicker.

    Good luck.

i'm not going to lose faith, i concentrate on Segal in pricewise extra and next week is a big week for him. If the midweek crew do badly as they do the majority of the time Tom will have to bail pricewise extra out again. November was always going to be a difficult month, the changeover from flat to jumps, absolutely atrocious weather, a lot of new novices and regular campaigners having their first race back. I sure wont be giving up, i hope they get theyre profit for the month, but would love it if they were forced to change the midweek line up of tipsters due to a month of a loss to give more days to proven decent tipsters with a good strikerate

Higher than 25% is very possible.

The reason I started keeping a record was specifically to compare the midweek boys with Segal. I dont really have enough data yet to be able to conclude anything because its only been a few months. But with a bit more time we will be able to see a more clear picture.
