I ended up with the "digital deluxe edition" for PC. I'm about two hours in the game now, seems quite excellent so far. Combat seemed really easy, even on "hard" difficulty - I guess it'll get harder later on.

I pre-ordered from dvd.co.uk. Does anyone know which extra DLC comes with pre-orders? and what is worth picking up before starting a new campaign?

I fixed your post. G2play's legal service is a grey area at best. It's still unclear where they get the keys from. They claim it's from cheaper regions but there have already been a few cases were their 'suppliers' gave them stolen keys.

I've heard that argument before, mostly when g2play was just selling steam games cheap to Polish and Czech gamers until steam got pissed off about it and start banning groups of keys sold by g2play in order to disrupt them selling games at more realistic prices than that sold directly by steam at exhorbatant markups.

I can understand steam needing a markup in order to cover costs related to digital distribution but a typical 60% markup direct from Steam is just plain wrong.

If g2play wasn't there selling the keys cheaper, I honestly can only say most of my pc games would be pirated.

They do source from other markets and sometimes in the past you could only play those games in non English language or tied to your regional ip. Now all their games are usually global or multilingual with no such restrictions.

I've bought a lot from them myself over the years and so far so good, no problems as of yet at all. I also bought win 7 64 Ultimate from them before it was officially realeased, with discounts and promo code it cost me 97 euro.

Really enjoying it,Im dreading the first boss fight though :-/.

The boss fights can be tough alright, but if you use the right spells then you'll get by. There are some insanely powerful spells in this game, Crushing Prison for example. I'm not looking forward to meeting any enemies that use that spell :(

I was really really enjoying this game (playing on xbox)

but i've just been glitched out of six or more hours of play time because I can't
smash the ****ing metal doors in the fade in golem form. it just says 'cannot pick this lock' and punching it does nothing. cant complete the ****ing quest and get out of the fade without that. and now I dont know if I can even load a previous save, or should I start again and lose 18 hours of play time.

    very, very

    very annoyed

I'm on PC but I may be able to help...
I had issues opening some doors as the Golem and found that if clicking on the door didn't work doing the third special skill usually did it anyway as long as you are standing right at the door. i.e. the skill where he pulls a boulder from the ground and throws it opened the doors for me when in front of them. When clicking on the door worked it was the same animation (boulder from ground etc.) which was what made me try it so this may work on xbox too.

All the races are pretty similar in most respects, with just their starting area differeing. The elves get a few racist remarks thrown at them. The main difference with whether you play a mage, warrior or rogue. They're all fun to play, though I think the mage is my favourite (the spell effects are fancy! :D ). But one thing that annoyed me is that if you don't pick a rogue, there's a fair few locked chests and things that you can't pick open until you get yourself a rogue in the party, and even then the first rogue you get isn't the best at it.

I actually found the classes to be a different enough from normal fantasy RPG's to be a refreshing change. The warriors fairly kick ass and look the part, the rogues aren't as delicate as in normal games and can hold their own in a fight and the mages are fairly powerful from the start which reflects the kind of fearful power they should have in other games.

Loving it so far :D Though, one thing that I find quite quite annoying is the fact you cant bash locks :/ as I tend not to use a rogue character it can be a pain not being able to open locked chests and such. me want bash!

What skill determines your lock picking ability? I can't seem to see any, although perhaps I'm not reading clearly enough...

Cunning allows you to get higher levels of Stealing and Device Mastery.

i picked the warrior and want to know how high a lvl do ineed to get to pick locks and doors
is there a way to kick in doors without the speach text coming up

No unfortunately not. That's one of the big weak points of this game. You can only open a locked door/chest with a rogue's lock picking ability. No bashing in a door or spell of opening :(

You only need one word to describe this game, epic.

ok thanks wondering would it be best to play as a rogue instead getting sick of all those locks
anyone tell me if there is anything worth getting or they just there for the rogue characters

Ah I wouldn't bother. There's usually nothing of worth behind the locks anyway. Besides you can get a rogue in your party soon enough when you enter the main world map.

    It's savage alright.

Also, as a rogue (memories of WoW :pac:) it's not really that handy tbh. You'd probably be best suited going as either a tank warrior or dps mage and then using someone like Zathran or Leleina as your rogue. And in fairness there are so few traps about it's not that big a deal to even carry a rogue.

Also like WoW, we're not that good, and ranged dps is much much better.

tried that loads, on all the different doors.. nothing.

I reloaded a previous save the last time and went around to the elves, dwareves, redcliffe etc just putting off the circle tower untli the very last. and it happened *again*.

    I can't complete the game.

    Buggy piece of ****.

I've come across a few dark spawn mages with that spell, and they can kill my level 15 fighter with a constitution of 38 (with additional help from some hurlocks) without him getting in a single strike. They are very lethal.

I was thinkin of getting this but Im not a massive RPG head so Im not sure. Ive played the likes of Morrowind, Deux ex, Oblivion and Fallout 3 and really enjoyed them but thats probly cos they arent hardcore RPG's and are closer to the kind of games I mostly enjoy - 1st and 3rd person shooters.
The nearest I ever came to pausing a game to queue up attacks was VATS in Fallout3!

Would you recommend this game to me? Is it enjoyable even if your not a hardcore RPG player?

It's not that hardcore as RPG's go. If you're comfortable enough with the pausing of the VATS systems then you should be fine with this.

Its over the shoulder camera - which gives you the impression to be in the heat of the battle or you can zoom out to isotropic view.

You actually just tell your party what to do and they will exacte it, you wont aim or shot yourself like fallout allows you and you wont swing the sword yourself as you can in Morrowind, Oblivion or the Gothic series. Maybe you have ever tried, Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape Torment - those all are from Bioware and Dragon Age is the evolution of them.

Question for those playing as a warrior:
Where do you find people to train you in the sub-classes? I'm at level 9 now and I still haven't used up my first class specialisation point. I'm sure if I talked to Alistair he would probably teach me how to become a templar, but I don't want to be a templar. Where can I learn to become the other classes?

i still have not got the game and it was dispatched to me on thursday 5th nov.

So is there auto leveling of mobs in this like there was in oblivian? I uninstalled oblivian after 2 hours once I discovered the BS auto levelling. I mean why even have the concept of levels in the first place if every mob remains the same level relatively to the main character as he progresses? Absolute joke imo.

Yes, the enemies do level up with you like in Oblivion. The only time this is really annoying though is when some random bandit group are quite tough to kill. Other then that, i like that the Darkspawn level up with you. You still hammer them once you have decent tactics, but its still occasionally a challenge.

Dont worry, it doesnt effect the game like it did in Oblivion.
