Just wondering if I am now in the minority of people who actually meant it when they said they would boycott this insult to gaming.

    Anyone else?

In fairness mate I think you are totally wrong. Most crap that we get nowadays is sub standard gaming experience. At least IW have made a good effort to deliver a game that in my opinion is one of the best of the year so far.

I don't see where the "insult to gaming occurs" care to explain?

I still dont have it...although i have been working nights for the last two days.

I'm assuming he meant as an insult to pc gamers. There's plenty of threads about why pc users are pissed off, even if it turns out that its not as bad as we had feared.

Getting my 360 version for free but it means I have to wait a week or two. And no I'm not pirating. Loves having industry contacts. Means I can enjoy the game and stick it to Activision :)

Let me just clarify; I consider consoles an aberration, therefore when I refer to "gaming"(in the context of electronic games), I am referring to the PC gaming experience.

Even if you do take into account all things that have been scrapped from the PC version IW have still delivered an gaming experience that is a cut above its competitors. The OP's statement that it is a insult to gaming is just wrong and on the trolling side of annoying.

Call me a purist but I do not think of reducing functionality as adding anything to the mix.

If you find my opinions annoying then don't read em.

I'm with you Hellm0. Not buying this game, ever. Activision and IW won't see another penny from me. I'm not a sell-out who's going to buy that game and have multi-billion dollar corporations think it's perfectly fine to back-stab their customers.

I just wanted to correct your obvious ignorance. The thing that distinguishes PC gaming and makes it different and arguably better is it's online play. Mod'ing, dedicated servers, a stronger clan community and larger than life TDM. Each of those have been thrown in the bin by IW. No mod'ing tools, no more dedicated servers..to be replaced by, in my opinion (and many others), a far inferior "host" system, no dedicated servers means a lesser clan based gamer experience and only eighteen players...well thats linked into the "host" system.

Apparently they will deter cheats. That's been a problem on almost every online PC game to date. If IW have answer with their new system, I will eat my hair. It's totally absurd and disillusioned if they think they can crack it. Not possible in my opinion.

The reasoning behind these terrible business decisions? I haven't really got a definite answer...it could be for money? This new system will force PC gamers to buy DLC's, unlike before. It could also be laziness? Feels that the PC version is a direct port from the console versions.

I will leave you with these two links:

I for one will not buy this. I'll get my booty somewhere else, matey.

Not even tempted. As soon as details of the PC version started coming out any interest in the game disappeared.

I'm not buying it, ever, even if they release a dedi server in the future. They've really pissed me off as a pc gamer, losing the q and e lean, limiting configs, making it a console game. Fcuk right off Infinity Ward with Your greedy tactics. I'll be playing the sp in spite tomorrow but I'll not be buying it for the mp like I did the last.

As a PC gamer you were already in the minority. You're lucky to get any version of the game at all. I wouldn't hold my breath for MW3 to come to the PC.

Can't see that happen. More platforms means more mooylah, sadly Activisions only thought.

Considering the amount of personal abuse, the constant complaints, the boycotting, the bad publicity in general, why in the name of god would they bother making MW3 for PC? They won't be making that much money, especially compareed to what they'll take in for consoles. It's not worth their while.

Fair play to anyone who stuck to their guns, though. Personally I think it's pointless (IW and Activision will make their money regardless), but I expected everyone to cave. Pity people can't have this conviction in politics. :D

Of course it is, money is all any company wants. But at least this company puts out high quality products, which is more than I can say for most. If the PC version isn't making enough money to warrant its development they won't make it any more, and they won't think twice about it. It doesn't matter how loyal PC gamers are or that Call of Duty started off on the PC, they have a new and much larger consumer base now. And seeing as how PC games are in steep decline I can't see them continuing to make them much longer.

And I'm saying this as a former PC gamer. I just got sick of having to pay a fortune for upgrades when I could just pay €200 for an Xbox and not worry about it for the next 3 or 4 years.

Yet it's thanks to that "minority" that Call of Duty is what it is today...

So?? It's thanks to arcade machines that computer games are what they are today, but they've been forgotten about too. Because they don't make money any more. Things move on, they aren't gonna bow down to PC gamers just because that's where they started. Would you if you were them?

    Terrible ratings here??

I'm a Huuuuge COD4 online player. (Its gone off my steam account somehow, but that's besides the point).

I really want to play this on my Pc. Shocked to hear its basically only useful for consoles.

Maybe just carry on with Cod 4 multiplayer???

MOD NOTE: You may consider consoles an aberration but millions don't. Keep console bashing out of this thread and concentrate on why you didn't buy the game and to the topic of the thread you started. Read the charter. That goes for everyone else, console players included, no PC bashing either. ;)

EDIT: Oh and by the way, I totally admire your stance on this! Good to see some people who said they wouldn't buy it actually stick to their guns (pardon the pun). Fair play to you :)

    - nobody in my clan has bought it either, few saps got it for free tho!
