i've been playing multiplayer with 2 friends for most of the day and have really enjoyed it.. the only problems so far has been two host migrations which only took like 10-15seconds apart from that it's been lag free cod :)

whats the big deal? pop in disk-install-input key-game works.......why does steam need to do anything at this point bar acknowledge your purchase :(

i was playing from 00:30 till 8:00 in the morning, then had some sleep and went back on killing fest. In all this time i hd only one host migration, which took 15 secs max. Lagg free gaming aswell...

Same here, I think the issue is at the moment the steam servers are getting overloaded due to people downloading the data instead of installing from the disc they have, thus when people go to install they only get to the activation keycode stage and then they hit an error. All you have to do then is to make sure there isnt any local data stored and then hit reinstall when your disc spins up again, the disc should then takeover and install

I read that the pc version of the game will have a multiplayer similar to consoles. Was this done so that users different platforms could play together?

    hahaha

    god no...

I still hurt from the days they let dreamcast players play pc players in quake 3, those pc boys didnt treat me too nicely, made me squeel like a pig behind the quad damage shed.

Just had a quick go there, played for around 20 mins. Ill admit its not that bad.

Seems to be just like CoD4 once you get into a game. The FoV was the first thing I noticed yeah, should be able to get use to it though. The lack of customisation isnt good but Im sure we can mess around with the config and hopefully it wont kick us from games.

Is anyone else having issues installing the game?
Mine keeps crashing on the install when it gets about 2/3 through on the first disk..

Yeah I sure am, issues of conscience. As in I refuse to buy the game. Like so many claimed they would:(

I got to play this a little earlier and I loved it. I only got to play the second (or maybe third) level in the snow and it was fantastic. Great effects, great animation, great sound and great action. I can't wait to give it another shot.

I also got to play the MP a little and it's great so far. Simple to start a game and it's possibly the first time I've ever ran any sort of multiplayer game on my home PC without any sign of lag. I don't know how any team players found it, but for a casual player the MP is a dream. No messing, just straight into the action in seconds.

edit: oh and I also had issues installing it, but I have those for every Steam game since Half Life 2. Steam is a pile of sh*te.

pc gamers not finding to too bad after all

playing on the ps3 myself, can still play with your friends, just cannot play against your friends for xp points. can still play private matchs though

I might actually buy it now once I get my desktop pc fixed, the hard drive with vista kicked the bucket after 2 years exactly, constant bsod on start up. MW2 sounds good so far. :pac:

Ridiculously short single player campaign. What is there though is extremly well done even if the "story" non-existant.

I know this is all about the multiplayer for many gamers and fair enough, just wish the developers spent a bit more on the single player side, maybe hire some good writers to work with. Because throw in a good engaging story, and you'd have something truly very special indeed.

What genius decided that it would be a good idea to include a "Joint Ops" tag?
Add this to the fact that you get asked "do you smoke", 420 and other stoner sh*te and the game will become almost unbearable

P.S. Im not an anti crack just hate the lifestyle that goes with it

About 2 hours into it... so half way through

    Gonna finish the rest tomorrow.

It looks and runs really well. Had a weird issue with sound skipping in the satellite cutscenes between levels but this was solved by disabling frame syncing.

The levels are painfully short though. Will be finishing the SP tomorrow then hopefully get some life out of the coop on veteran.

So how is it with only 9v9 in a match?

rather good actually. maps are smaller. perfect size for 6v6 or 9v9

I gotta say i am let down, technically its better but story wise its gone all ..... well.... Vin Diesel, entertaining but thick as s**t.
I loved mod 1 for the realism of the usmc side and the stealth missions of the sas. The story was right out of a tom Clancy novel and you really felt for the team..... now its all replaced with outlandish tales of Russia invading the US! Trenches in Washington and mini gunning the war memorial?!!!! WTF.

Did the developers revert to the age of 13 since the last installment? Its wayyyyyy to cheesy. Its like Harrison Fords Air Force One.... fun and a laugh but at some point you think this is complete balls of a story.

What was wrong with realism and stealth? How come its all crash bang explosion in the dumbest of ways now..... Sigh.

Hmmm not sure what to make of this yet.

I stopped of in xtra vision at 18:00 by chance seen it thought that would do nicely bought it stuck it on at 10PM hammering through the game at the moment.

I imagined it to be more like the first modern warfare lots of sniping in it this isn't the case from what I have done so far feeling a bit meh about it it's more like world at war..

completely agree, the first mission in mod 1.... stealth , night time, isolated, driving rain, realistic plot, tension turned to panic on a knife edge.
First mission of mod 2... running through a town in Afg shooting anything that moved screaming hoo raaahh.
    It just seems very immature.

Moments in the first made the hairs stand up like the "last stand" sniper fend off in the sniper mission by the fair ground in a deserted commy town. Taking calculated shots, blowing lines of claymores as last ditch efforts, throwing down the sniper rifle for a rusty ak and double tapping the wave of spec ops... utter class.

It made me really care in the ending of the game I just cant get that feeling for this one. Its like they have taken a great moody intelligent movie and made a over the top no brainier sequel to cash in. Feels like if they made a Ronnin sequel but then ended up like Doom the movie. Leave your brain at the door action. Had I rented this first I wouldnt have bought it.... and that pains me to say.

Its like a season of 24 directed by Michael Bay.

    Still love it though!
The EMP was a nice change from what I thought would be a routine nuke "shock" detonation

    I think the
    American Suburbs
levels we're the most boring even though they we're the ones I was most looking forward to.

this is what I posted on the other thread, but actually could someone fill me in on the plot I thought it was really poorly developed?
Why did Shepherd betray them? I know he said 30k of my men died etc but didn't his actions result in an invasion of the continental us....
I have to say the plot confused the hell out of me, it wasn't explained well at all. And the SP was so short! I didn't shoot
one citizen and I agree with the GTA point but I found the airport scene a little disturbing,
which is not to say I didn't enjoy it, it's good to be challenged. I had some great moments like when I
fired the minigun for the first time, and the sneakin around with price
, but another mission ala the ghillie mission in MW1 would have been appreciated. OVer all I'm a little let down. And I agree with the previous poster, the multiplayer maps seem to be set up for the snipers and lurkers which isn't as much fun...

I had problems loading from disk 2, it kept freezing.
Eventually I tried my 2nd DVD drive and it loaded ok (but both DVD drives are new)
It loaded directly from DVD, I never had the option to download from STEAM.

As for the game itself I'm only interested in MP mode.
The first disappointment is that the "Lobby" does not allow you to select the server to join, it one picks for you.
I think it waits until there are enough waiting candidates, then matches them up somehow (perhaps Ping as mentioned above), then the game starts.

Coming from COD4 I prefer to join my favorite server, then I get to know the players well.
MW2 removes this option, so you never meet the same opponents twice, it's just random selection.

I hope Xfire comes out with an update soon, I really don't like the lobby.

Also, does anyone know if there will be a MOD kit ?
I'd like to see some new maps developed with these new graphics.
