    ^ Awesome, thank you!
I plan on also joining the Media Production Soc and Redbrick.
If thats too much ill stick with what I enjoy most

Redbrick is really amazing, online storage, photo storage, chat, and webspace too. Plus the members are (with one or two exceptions :P) really friendly and nice :P

And just throwing it out there, but For any Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender folk, the DCULGBT are hoping to bring the soc back from near death this year. (Apparently people didn't know it existed) We'll be noticable on Clubs and Socs day and we're really friendly and approachable folk. ^_^

Hope to see you all soon =D

I wanna join Drama since I found out there's backstage stuff to be done, Media Production, Film and maybe Style and Publications if I've time :pac:

I'm looking forward to joining socs, hopefully they'll be a good laugh and I won't be all nervous!

I heard theres a soc where you go on a mystery holiday, you dont know where your going till you get to the airport, then they tell you where your going?
How would you pack for such a holiday? That'd be one heavy suitcase!

Imagine bringing 90% sun stuff then winding up in the arctic or something :pac:

My 3 favorite societies. You and I will get along VERY well, comrade...

    Awh shucks! :o

What exactly are the kind of things they do in Book soc btw? I've been told vague stuff so I'm not 100% sure! :)

is poker soc still on the go?

Mostly we read books. Shocking, I know. It tends to be a bimonthly thing. We get a book in for everyone, at a discount, and we all read it over 2 weeks. Then we get together, chat about what we all thought of it, have a nice cup of tea and some other goodies, then do it all over again.
That's the basics. We also do stuff like the Book Bun-anza, a mix between a bake sale and selling books. Then the trips, which are epic. If I ever manage to upload my videos you'll see... Well, a 15 minute monologue as we wander Prague. But it's mildly interesting.

Now that I'm Chair, I'm not really happy to just be a caretaker, so I intend to add a good deal of new stuff too, and try to add more active stuff to our roster. Should be a fun year.

This is a LONG post now... Sure if ya want more info, I'll be at the table at Clubs & Socs day. And if I'm not, someone else will be, they'll clarify everything.

Thank you! The book reading part I knew but I was just wondering what other kind of things were part of the society, so thanks muchlies for the info! :D

Yeah, the Entrepreneurial and Social Society.

They do an Iron Stomach competition aswell. If you're in anyway squeamish or have just eaten, you might be better off not watching this clip.

Good stuff. There is a good bit of piss-take, but once you learn that it's just the internet and it's not SRS BSNS, then it's grand.

    Oh the antics!

It is most certainly, they meet in the old bar a couple of times a week and hold regular competetions and stuff

Might sound a bit like a crazy person here, but there wouldn't be any Pagan/Wiccan folk in DCU looking for some kind of society based around the theme? Even UCD has a Pagan Society!

Just thought I'd throw it out there. I'd certainly be up for it :)

Haha. I think I'll join as many as the aul' bank card will let me! I'm hoping to join the Art Society because apparently they hold workshops in sketching/painting and all that jazz.

I definately wanna join the Art Society, they have a trip to Italy as well I think. Also some kind of "a painting for a drink" thing, which sounds very interesting! :p

    :D

I second what Urizen said, Art Soc is going to be epic this year(we'll be around most of orientation week! You'll see us, it will be hard to miss us!)

I'd Recommend Gamessoc aswell, Great way to spend a wednesday afternoon playing rockband & super smash bros.:)

There's 3 Pagans in DCU that I know of, including myself. And we're all different paths. I doubt there'd be a significant influx this year that would justify starting a society. Then we have the problem of the vast amount of posers and idiots the concept attracts. But that's a conversation for the Paganism forum...

However, if you want to meet up me or any of the others some time, PM me here. Ya never know, we may have a few hiding in the woodwork, we might have the makings of a society. And I'm curious now myself as to how many there actually are floating around.

And UCD having one is in NO way an incentive, comrade...

Yeah DCU didn't really strike me as a very Pagan-like place. Who knows maybe if I lit a bonfire and got some people dance naked around it, might attract some attention..? :P

Personally I think idiots and posers should be welcomed with open arms. Some of them could surely be helped properly on their spiritual path.

I wouldn't see it as our duty to teach anyone what to believe. But, again, for the Pagan forum.

I mentioned nothing of the sort, there's a difference between guiding and indoctrination.

For ArtSoc peeps, how often do the Art Society hold their workshops/classes?

Fair enough, oneart. I do tend to get a bit defensive, touchy subject.

Aww, Garseys got here before me. I like relating to the public...

I think you can still register for the fresher teams- you will see the soccer club on clubs and socs day. Mater Dei have their own team as far as I know.
