150 photos!? Your room must be plastered! Is it an automatic machine printing thing or do they do it over night?

haha nah my room's not plastered but i do have a great love for photo albums :)

you get 150+ for 5c if you leave them to be done overnight, which is fine by me, i've never really needed a photo instantly and if you do there's the instant machine in dunnes which is 25c a print but i think it gets cheaper the more you are printing out...i'm not sure only ever used it once :)

There is a bus that leaves from The Square in Tallaght, at the Department Of Social Welfare if that is of any help? One leaves at 8, another at 11.
The route is up on the Maynooth website under Location & Transport.
    Hope this helps!

Connect to the NUIM Wireless from an iPhone or iPod Touch

(The account, security and proxy settings can also be used for other smartphones)

    1. settings>general>network>vpn

    2. under vpn settings :

    type : PPTP
    Server : nuimwireless
    account : <student number>
    RSA SecurID : off
    password : your moodle password
    Encryption level : auto
    send all traffic : on

    Proxy : Auto
    http://proxy.nuim.ie:8010

    3. Connect over wifi to nuimwireless

    4. Turn the vpn slider in settings to on, it will connect and safari will work

That will make life a *lot* easier…Any idea how to set up college email with iTouch/iPhone Mail? I know you can do forwarding but with such a nice(and capable) device I'd love to have it in Mail…:)

Starting hdip monday but not registering till wednesday. do i just get general timetable and have a look at some lectures or is there somewhere i should be? had to miss the postgrad meeting during the week so any info on that would be good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,081 ✭✭✭LeixlipRed

Look up the timetable and just go to the first lecture on it. Should be some info from your department at that.

VPN wouldn't work for me yesterday. They have some sort of web portal set up now where you just type in your username/password and you have access.

I remember reading in one of these threads that there were late buses on friday and saturday but just checked the timetable and there is no mention. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Late buses from town to Maynooth yeh. Not the other way round. They start at 1230 and are every half hour until 3 I believe. The 67N is the one you want.

    Hold on that's all wrong!

67n goes at 12, 2 and 4 on Friday and Sat.

can someone give directions to a couple of the pc suites. if i download a few gb each month to the laptop will there be any bother or is there is set limit per connection?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

TBH, unless you've a rapidshare/usenet/similar account, you'll be finding it hard to get noticed. You'd have to be streaming some serious videos to show up on radar...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 469 ✭✭5Aces

Looking to download a fair few poker videos using utorrent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

Sorry dude, can't torrent on campus. It just won't work. You'll need to use a mate's network off-campus.

Also, maybe don't mention utorrent here

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,479 ✭✭✭✭philologos

Farmville won't work in college because your browser has to use a proxy I would have thought that much anyway. The flash client of Farmville connects to a server which puts what you have on every tile and how it changes in a database. A proxy results in an indirect connection between the flash program, and the server resulting in connection issues.

Just a theory. Internet Explorer probably has a better handle on proxy settings than Firefox does. I've never had a flash game work in Firefox on the NUIM network.

    I'd just like to say...

If I see one more person on FARMVILLE while there's a que of people waiting to actually use the computers for something productive I will not be held responsible for my actions. I think my deadlines are more important than your imaginary crops.

    That is all.

I think you can just ask someone working in the PACR to kick them off. Not on at all if there's a queue of people!

Yea just mention it to the person working in the centre. They'll sort them out. Especially in the PACRs and the Arts Block computers.
