Introduction to Computer Music, Musical Language and Materials, Sound Synthesis and Acoustics of Music. :D

okay, when i did first year, computer music was just fine but i think you have a different lecturer to the one i had...still think it's an alright module though-we just learned how to do basic things on cubase and pure data and a little bit of audacity

musical language and materials is a new module i believe. we didn't have that module when i did first year and i don't think the firsties of last year had it either...it sounds interesting though! when you find out what it's really all about give us the heads up! :)

sound synthesis, hopefully you'll have joe timmoney as a lecturer, i'd say ya will. he's a bit of a legend! i don't remember very much from that module though, i stayed up all night before the exam in may and crammed like i'd never crammed before and that is how i passed...but you'll pay attention in lectures and won't spend them on various social networking sites or playing games so you'll fare much better than i did-won't be any such cramming sessions for you :)

acoustics of music is the physic-y one, but it's actually fine and i thought it was quite interesting...learning how sounds bounce around and about how the ear works and all that lovely stuff...again i think you'll have a different lecturer to the one i had (ours was filling in for the lecturer that was meant to be giving the lecture, they were off doing something somewhere or something)

so yeah, that's my experience of first year mustech...was good fun, and 2nd year was even better-that's where you get to mess around in the studio and things, great fun! :)

    Just to prove my point:

    From Charter:
Text Speak is not allowed. It is difficult to read and quite often lacks any form of punctuation making it easier for misinterpretation. If you want to post but only have a phone to post from, then take the time to post properly or wait until you have access to a keyboard. This is a re-iteration of the boards.ie sitewide ruling on text speak.

I know I'm not the only one who hates textspeak, but I am the one who gives out about it the most. Seriously girls and guys, just type properly, it's not that hard.

We should find out what modules Efla corrects and completely corrupt his students. ''Duh, you're supposed to write the whole thing in bold, condensed caps. It's NUIM policy. Also, it should look like a news paper. And have footnotes that are just for fun. Like this one*''

    *Made you look
