This thread makes me extremely nervous. Cork have beaten no one and are inexplicably being made favourites against a truly great Tyrone side. I await a hammering.

well you "awaited" a Donegal win so I hope you are as completely wrong sunday as you were then.

Cork to win by between 4-6 points, 15/2 with PP. Invest your social welfare now.

Still think the first 20 minutes are the most crucial. If Cork get a foothold in the game and get a 4 or 5 point margin on Tyrone,I'll back them to come away with the win.

I'd see it the other way around. Wouldnt be surprised if Tyrone were behind by half time but ahead by full time.

If cork play to their best and we know tyrone will there shoudnt be much in the match. Tyrone are tactical and tough, cork have height and some good quick skillful players.

Cork cannot dilly dally around with the ball like they do on some occasions as tyrone will exploit it right away.

Ah yes but if Tyrone are behind at half time I believe it would have to be by a maximum of 3 or 4 points for them to be able to come back and draw or win.Dublin stung Tyrone in 2005 right before half time with a Mossy Quinn goal to go 5 ahead at the break yet Tyrone came back almost immediately at the restart.

I think Cork are a totally different proposition though and a very mentally strong team in that anytime they get a run at their opponents in the first half, they can go on to control the game and see out the win.If Tyrone are behind by 5 points or thereabouts,it will be much more difficult to come back.Look how Cork closed Meath out of the 2007 semi-final and look at how Meath got a foothold in the game against Tyrone and won. While Tyrone did come back against Meath for a time, they didn't have the players fully fit and were mising other key players.

I think if you look at 2007,2008 and 2009 you will see certain games that might tell a lot about where the two teams are on paper.2007 an injury riddled Tyrone were squeezed out by Meath and the subsequent game Cork hammered Meath.2008 and Cork hang on against an average Kildare team and fail to beat Kerry again in the All Ireland series while a full strength Tyrone team outplayed and outclassed Kerry in the final. This year Tyrone waltzed through Ulster untested and survived a battle hardened improved Kildare side while Cork walked away with a facile win over Donegal. While Cork beat Kerry,it is fair to say that Kerry are a different proposition in June than say August/September.

I think Tyrone should have the necessary tools to win this game. They play a more attacking style of football from defense and I think Corks forwards may struggle as Tyrone have the defenders capable of countering big forwards like Cussen.

This is where other teams like Armagh,Dublin and even Kerry have failed.Tyrone can turn around possession from an opposing half back coming out with the ball.

I am sure Counihan and his training staff have been drilling Cork in releasing ball.If they have any sense, they will do some training drills on third man tackles. As good as Tyrone are, they are very cute as well and in particular in the half and full forward lines use this tactic to free up a forward getting a point unchallenged.

You have to remember what paper it is and where it is printed/circulated

I read it nearly every day up here and their gaa stuff rarely goes beyond monaghan and cavan and if there is a story you better believe it will paint "southern" football in a bad light

Although many other papers are guilty of this "talking up" of their own teams i guess

I'm astounded Cork have gotten more votes, people are backing them on the back of what exactly?
Anyone i talk to that fancy Cork, alls they can say about cork is 'their a massive team, all over six foot, massive men, they'l tear into tyrone and hit them hard'!
Methinks Tyrone will be fit for the 'massive' hits

Let me assure you most Cork fans are too.. No Cork fan I know is in ever so confident mood.. They have total respect for Tyrone and Ulater football. There one the few counties that do.

Dont think i have ever in my life met confident Cork football supporter

I suppose some Just think there bound for an upset as its been a while since they have done it and this may be the year they break it down.

They have a 100% record against Tyrone in championship football too;);)

I'd fancy Tyrone for a goal, particularly with Justin McMahon playing centre half back.

    Tyrone 1-16
    Cork 1-14

Really looking forward to this clash, amazing they haven't met each other in the last few years, exactly the reason I'm going for Tyrone!

PS. McGinley back in midfield is a big plus for Tyrone. Without him I'd have went for Cork. It gives Cavanagh the licence to roam.

Going to the big game tomorrow, really think this could be the game of the year. I'd be worried for Cork with the weather predicted for tomorrow but at the end of the day the weather is the same for both teams. Hopefully it'll be a great game and Cork will sneak it by a point!

Looks like Tyrone had a case of the Dublin's in the last game, were very nearly beaten. Cork did well against Donegal, surprising as they were muck against Limerick. If the Cork that played Limerick turns up Tyrone by a mile, even if they play as bad as they did against Kildare. Both teams on peak form would be a great game, hard to call but Tyrone would edge it. If Tyrone were to do get another case of the Dublin's they have the mental strength to stay close and could even pip an on form Cork. That is the only difference I see, if Cork play bad they will be hammered, Tyrone wont.

The poll here is interesting with Cork leading at the moment. I'm really looking forward to this game and I believe it will be a great game of football.

As for who will win, I'm going for Tyrone. This is the type of game that will get their big players going. They just seem to have a knack of turning it on when it really matters.

Tyrone might be just that bit too cute and Cork haven't come up against that in the last few years.

Think this could be the game of the season with 1/2 touches of sheer class making the difference!

I voted for Cork but as it gets closer I am feeling more edgy about it.

I dont like they way Tyrone play and as I stated before they dont need to be niggleing and spiteful as they have a fantastic and very skillful set of players, complete players in every line of their team.

Anyway I was at a club match tonight, and the majority feeling was Tyrone have adopted a style which see very little of their spiteful play and most people felt they would eat Cork..

Anyway my heart says Cork but the closer it gets I think Tyrone might just have the all round balance to win, hope not!!

Looks like it is going to be a wet day. This will probably spoil the game so I wouldn't expect a high-scoring game.

Although I would love cork to win so we could hammer them in another all Ireland Final, I think Tyronne will win.

I think after seeing cork struggle against a team of quality routers such as limerick (who only lost really cause they don't have good forwards), The King of all routers Tyronne will probably make them look even more ordinary and with their far superior forwards (compared to Limerick) I think they win.

    It will be close though....................

I reckon cork will win today.
    And emphatically too.

I think its time for Cork to step up to the plate. A few near misses in recent years. On paper Tyrone should win, but with Lynch back and their half back line fully reinstated, i am going for Cork. I think they'll have the hunger for this one. I think they learned a lot from the Limerick game and put this into good use against Donegal. Their forwards seem to like playing in Croke Park as they've racked up some big scores there in recent times.

    Cork 2-14 Tyrone 1-15

Have to laugh at Spillane. "Tyrone haven't put back to back AI S/F wins together".

Yep, that's right Pat. Kind of hard to lose or win when they haven't been in 2 S/F's in a row!

They haven't lost a S/F this decade though!
