I think the game will be tight but I can't believe so many people are favouring Cork. I'm sticking with Tyrone, who are the All-Ireland champions and the team to beat after all.

I'd also hate to see another poor Cork vs Kerry final so, even if just for that reason alone, I hope Tyrone pull it off.

TBH I hope very much that Tyrone win and go on to face Kerry in the final simply because it will mean, imo at least, a definitive answer to the "Team of the decade" question...

    Tyrone by four.

    Why Tyrone will win?
    1.Battle hardened.
    2.Better midfield partnership
    3.Better at decision making
    4.Tougher opposition since start of championship(see 1)

    Why Cork won't win?
    1. Play in fits and starts
    2. Midfield is too inconsistent and lack pace(same could be said of defence)
    3. Give too much possession away(tyrone best in game at breakdown)
    4. Have choked in SF's before.

    ;)

heart says cork, head says tyrone.

only thing is, if cork play well, have more hunger than tyrone(which they should) and are probably the only team in Ireland as fit as tyrone, they can pull it off. got to play consistantly throughout though and thats no guarantee whatsoever with Cork. they can be awesome for 10 mins and medicore for 60. its got to be the other way around sunday week.

This thread makes me extremely nervous. Cork have beaten no one and are inexplicably being made favourites against a truly great Tyrone side. I await a hammering.

I don't know. I voted for Cork, well because I'm from there.

But any neutral I've talked to has said it will be a Cork win, which like Orizio, leaves me nearvous of a major beating.

Tyrone lads, of which I have only spoken to one, seem to be quietly confident.

That said, the Cork camp are yet again, keeping a very low profile.

IMO it because more people are voting with their hearts... I'd love to see Cork win but find it hard to see anyone getting the better of this Tyrone team. Tyrone by 5-7 points.

Very difficult game to call - hope that Cork win and go on to break the Kerry/Tyrone stranglehold on Sam.

Tyrone are the Al-Ireland Champions and have to be favourites. Having said that, I hope Cork can do it as they've been there or there abouts for a while and haven't anything to show for it.

When will the teams be named?
Osaki O Halpin to be drafted in??

Its A-I-S-A-K-E. And no, he is not on the panel.

Anthony Lynch will start instead of Kieran O'Connor, thats the only Cork change.

Have you ever watched a Cork Kerry game? Cork are well capable of their own in your face tactics, and have just as many players booked/sent off as Tyrone.

I love these sweeping statements people come out with about Northern teams.

From a Kerry perspective, this will be a cracking match.
Both immensly physical teams, neither afraid of hitting hard.
Possibly a few red cards. I can't see Pierce O'Neill keeping his head with Kevin Hughes giving him digs on the sly. Noel O'Leary on Dooher. Ryan Mc on anyone. Midfield will be a cracking duel! I think the McMahons will be the key for Tyrone... whether they play in the half forward line... or the full back line.

    Tyrone by 2.

In what way are you basing this? I don't see how being in your face has anything to do with sendings off.

Tyrone are undeniably a very aggressive team, whilst also being quite disciplined.

Also, he made a statement about one Northern team. Big fan of hyperbole?

Being in your face is being aggressive and last time I checked most of the top teams have a bit of aggression in their play.

And Cork aren't aggressive? I've lost count of the number of games where I've seen Cork players sent off. Don't let your bias get in the way of fair judgement please.

Yes, and there are regularly sweeping comments made about Northern teams on here. He referred to one but it is a regular occurence about many.

People are all too happy to follow the usual routine - we can't beat them so we'll complain about them.

Apparently the training Cork are doing is savage, hard hits going in just like in a real match so I think they will be ready for that side of it on Sunday.

I'm a tyrone man living in dublin. Was up home at the weekend and was talking to a lad who brought an american visitor to one of the tyrone training sessions. He told me kevin hughes was looking extremely fit, strong and sharp. The american visitor was astounded how "amateur" sportsmen could be so fit.
I hope tyrone will win but we'll need to be 100% cause anything less will not be good enough against a very good cork team.

I didn't say Cork weren't aggressive (yet another fallacy on your part), all top teams are and ave to be, I just feel Tyrone are the most aggressive team in the county which is a good thing.

And I can't think of many players besides Noel O'Leary that have been sent off in recent years for Cork - the current Cork team isn't dirty, nor do I feel Tyrone are that particurly dirty. Both teams have a couple of dirty players however.

Beyond that, is there any chance of you debating me without resorting to fallacies, jumping to assumptions, generalising or misrepresenting my argument, that would be nice.

Can have the capability of playing great football, and can be as agressive as a team as they need to be. They are very physical with a very high standard of fitness, some of them could literally run all day. They can match Tyrone in every department and I expect Cork to run them as close as Kildare did, but will believe in the last ten mins that they CAN win, something Kildare didn't -same as when they played Dublin. Whatever tactics are used by either team the other can counteract it . It should be a cracker, 71 euro for the train 45 for the ticket and thats before food and plenty of drink, it better be a cracker! Cork by a point or two, but I won't be surprised witht a draw!! Come On The Rebels !!

will cork be ready for the in your face tactics?

I think Cork will be ready. And this also raises the very important matter of the referee. Tyrone in my opinion are overly aggressive, maybe its because they are not physically a big team.

What really annoys me about Tyrone is I feel pound for pound they have the best ball players in the country, their skills are top class and they make so few errors, they dont need to be so aggressive. I think they get away with a lot of stuff and are the masters of "in your face" tactics. This is also what seperates them from other sides. All top sides have one or 2 hard men Tyrone dont, they just niggle and niggle and get away with it. This is where the referee comes in. From what I have seen so far McEnaney and your man from Armagh, Murphy are very poor when it comes to dealing with this especially when its a northern team.

I tipped Cork from early in the year and wont change now, I think Cork can win but they must not let Tyrone get a good start and Cork really get stuck in

Can't believe the majority favour a Cork win. Tyrone at Croke Park at the business end of the championship are a step above Cork.

    Tyrone by 6.

This is why I can't call this game. In fairness, the Dubs were favourites against Kerry and we know what happened. Look at Limerick against Tipp. This has been a really funny year. And the same collapse may well happen to Cork.

But, on paper, and thats all we have to go on at the moment, this game should be an absolute cracker. It has to be, the summer needs it.

Last time these two teams played was in the league in 2007 and Cork won comfortably as I remember but this is a total different kettle of fish.Cork are at their most dangerous when they are written off and I feel this is the case ever so slightly this weekend.

If Tyrone win this game, they should go on to beat Kerry in the AI Final. The worst thing imaginable is for Cork to beat Tyrone and get trounced in the AI Final by Kerry a la 2007.

I think the common denominator is Kildare.Last year Cork played them in a quarter final and built up an impressive lead on them until Kildare came back and Cork hung on to prevent a draw. This year Kildare have improved greatly by winning games comprehensively instead of stuttering over the line against average teams like Limerick and bad teams like Cavan.Kildare got a great start against Tyrone this year and looked to have them in trouble but Tyrone's resolve got them the win as they kept it tight. If Cork get a good start,Tyrone will need to keep it within 3 points and stay with them.

I think the first 20 minutes will tell a lot about which way this game is going to go.Tyrone basically took Dublin and Wexford out in the first 20 minutes and this meant that neither team could get a foothold in the game.I believe Cork will need to either keep it tight or get a 5 point plus margin on Tyrone if they are to win this game.Apart from the Munster Final in 2008,I can't remember the last time Cork came from behind to win.Looking at Meath v Tyrone in 2007,Meath got a great start and built up a 4 or 5 point lead which affected Tyrone's performance. However, now that Tyrone have all their players back again, they will use the same formula from 2005 and 2008.While I don't think there is much between Cork and Kerry,Tyrone do know how to handle Kerry and beat them.Such similarities between Kerry and Cork may play into Tyrone's hands.

I'm leaning slightly towards Tyrone for the win.

This undoubtedly is corks best chance in years of taking SAM. If they play to the best of their ability they can take tyrone, but I would never underestimate this tyrone team.

Counihan will need to make changes when the need arises, and not wait around. A few times this year certain players could or should been taking off but were not. e.g mr. masters.

Lets just hope its a cracker and that the rebel county come out on top.:)

It'd be quite a challenge to debate with you because you disagree with my point, I then make a point and then you agree with me.

You seemed to have a problem in your original post with me pointing out that Cork can be aggressive but now you are saying that you have no problem with that.

You also chose to jump in when I was actually speaking about another person's comment so you involved yourself here, I didn't involve you.

As for Cork players not being sent off. The games between them and Kerry have often had two or three players sent off between both sides, and sometimes drift towards nothing more than thuggery at the end.
