Might as well get this started.

I am really looking forward to this game. Could seriously be the game of the year (or a huge let down).

My head says its too close to call.

My heart says Cork by two.

Really looking forward to the banter with the Tyrone fans. I've only ever been at games where we were playing on the same day (not the same game), so this is a first for me.

I am lookin forward to this too, would be a rare day i cheer for cork but when they are facin those red hand bast**** ***** ******** * * * ******* * then i will cheer them on :D (i am jokin by the way in case the smiley didnt make it clear)

I think this one will be similarly as tight as the mayo meath match but going down to the wire with maybe a point in it at the end i think it will be tyrone who will do it

Cork, I hope but it's going to be very tough. If Cork are going to win the All-Ireland, they're going to have to beat both Tyrone and Kerry (at their peak). A tall order for any team but not impossible.

Tyrone, by 4 points. Close game until the last 15 when Tyrone will show their true colours...

I really think Cork can beat Tyrone, Kildare showed that if you work hard and have forwards you can beat them. Kildare didnt have them but Cork have 7-8 quality forwards.

Im sticking my neck out and saying Cork by 4-5 points. Neither of the two will beat Kerry either IMO and Meath certainly won't.

Tyrone will win by a couple.

Is this on next weekend or the weekend after?

...which happen to be the same as Cork's??? :p

Still reckon Tyrone can up it a little bit even though would like to see my fellow munster-men go through!

I'd fancy Cork as well provided they bring their shooting boots. Their height in fielding and holding high balls that Tyrone normally do not contest is a big advantage. They just have to make sure they support each other well and not let Tyrone swarm all over the fielder and restrict distribution of the ball. The Ulstermen love mopping up the breaking ball and forcing turnovers. If Cork support each other and run at Tyrone like they did on everyone else or else send in more direct high balls to their forward line, they can give Tyrone an awful time of it. They have quite a few options going forward, so can mix things up and see what works best on the day. I think Cork have come of age and if they have the right attitude and not relent even if they open a gap after a purple patch, they can win and win well. But you can never write off Tyrone. Mickey Harte is a great manager and his teams adapt to circumstances as required. But Cork have more than enough ability to prove one step too many for them. If they prevent Cavanagh and Dooher from running at them much and limit supply to Mulligan and O'Neill, this advantage will shine through on the scoreboard.

Will be a close game but i think Cork will dethrone the All Ireland champs by 2 or 3 points.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Cork, this for the year for the first time in a long time, have the ability, collectively and individually to win, and win well. Its just all about not bottling it now.

it'll either end up close with tyrone winning or narrowly losing (assuming they are still stuck in 3rd gear) or a tyrone walkover if they're on form.

Im going for a tyrone win by a couple of points.

Tickets are available now on ticketmaster by the way.

Anthony Lynch trained last night in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. This is great news. As much as we won well over Donegal, they still scored 2.10 against us.

Tyrone ftw. Although this game has potential to be a cracker. Hope Cork can play as well as v Donegal and they have a shout. I think Tyrone are more consistent and certainly do better in Croker than Cork. I expect them to clinically dispose of Cork by 3 or 4 points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 573 ✭✭✭rebs23

Surprised at the poll results. The big difference between Cork and Tyrone is that Tyrone have done it and know how to do it.
Still should be a good tight, hard aggressive game.

Cork For Me...All Ireland Champs In Waiting i think!

Hope this game is a classic. Being a dedicated Tyrone fan obviously im going to side for Tyrone on this occassion. Cork and Tyrone adapt similar styles of play so it should be a good match.

€45 a ticket is a bit steep thou. Think tickets for final whoever gets there is €70 anyone confirm this.

To put it into perspective, standing for madonnas current tour is 100 euro+ so if you ask me, sitting in the middle of the Hogan for what is likely to be the game of the year for 45 Euro is a steal.
    And 70 for the final
Also a steal. (It was 70 last year so at least that this year)

I have issues with the fact that cr@p seats low at the corner flags are the same price as decent seats over the centre line but thats a weeeee bit off topic.

Oh, and hill tickets are only 20 euro by the way. Kids (prebooked for family area) for free and pensioners and students get cash back.
    So its not all bad.

I think Tyrone should narrowly edge it. Cork wont get anywhere as much space as they have been getting in games so far. Hopping Donegal is hardly ideal preparation for this game, Cork will have learned nothing from that game

Cork are All Ireland Champions in the waiting. They have the ability the game plan and the will. Looking good for another crack at Kerry in a final, banish the demons of a few years ago, and show the Dubs how to beat Kerry, deny them posession!!

Tyrone will win by 6-8 points. I'm serious!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,791 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

    I'd fancy Tyrone somewhat.

I think they're physically better equipped to handle Cork than Kerry were earlier in the year and I just think the Red Hands will have too much firepower...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23 Hussard

Cork to win by two points. Mickey Harte is a genius but the Cork lads will run Tyrone down with their size, fitness and skill. The Cork half backs coming through is a full match for what Tyrone do at their best and this really is likely to be the best game of the Championship. Kerry and Meath will be very pale by comparison.

Whats the attendance likely to be for this game? I'm guessing tickets will be available on the day.

this is the thing though - if Tyrone arent playing then they'll lose. If they do play, they'll win .. but imo its hard to work out if they'll let themselves get walked over or if they'll put up a fight. they've a terrible habit of being somewhat unpredictable at times.

For an All Ireland Semi Final I would consider it very good value, compare it to the €55 the FAI were charging for a meaningless friendly on wednesday night and its a fricken steal.

I think the game will be tight but I can't believe so many people are favouring Cork. I'm sticking with Tyrone, who are the All-Ireland champions and the team to beat after all.

I'd also hate to see another poor Cork vs Kerry final so, even if just for that reason alone, I hope Tyrone pull it off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,791 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

TBH I hope very much that Tyrone win and go on to face Kerry in the final simply because it will mean, imo at least, a definitive answer to the "Team of the decade" question...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 238 ✭✭EARMUFFS

    Tyrone by four.

    Why Tyrone will win?
    1.Battle hardened.
    2.Better midfield partnership
    3.Better at decision making
    4.Tougher opposition since start of championship(see 1)

    Why Cork won't win?
    1. Play in fits and starts
    2. Midfield is too inconsistent and lack pace(same could be said of defence)
    3. Give too much possession away(tyrone best in game at breakdown)
    4. Have choked in SF's before.

    ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,611 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

heart says cork, head says tyrone.

only thing is, if cork play well, have more hunger than tyrone(which they should) and are probably the only team in Ireland as fit as tyrone, they can pull it off. got to play consistantly throughout though and thats no guarantee whatsoever with Cork. they can be awesome for 10 mins and medicore for 60. its got to be the other way around sunday week.

I thinK Tyrone will pull through to win by 2-3 points be very close game and expect good show from Cork no question

This thread makes me extremely nervous. Cork have beaten no one and are inexplicably being made favourites against a truly great Tyrone side. I await a hammering.

Im thinking of going to the game next sunday. Does anyone know if there will be student tickets on sale there and what ID you need to confirm you are a student???????

I don't know. I voted for Cork, well because I'm from there.

But any neutral I've talked to has said it will be a Cork win, which like Orizio, leaves me nearvous of a major beating.

Tyrone lads, of which I have only spoken to one, seem to be quietly confident.

That said, the Cork camp are yet again, keeping a very low profile.

IMO it because more people are voting with their hearts... I'd love to see Cork win but find it hard to see anyone getting the better of this Tyrone team. Tyrone by 5-7 points.

Very difficult game to call - hope that Cork win and go on to break the Kerry/Tyrone stranglehold on Sam.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭Johnnyjump

Tyrone are the Al-Ireland Champions and have to be favourites. Having said that, I hope Cork can do it as they've been there or there abouts for a while and haven't anything to show for it.

Osaki O Halpin to be drafted in??

Its A-I-S-A-K-E. And no, he is not on the panel.

Anthony Lynch will start instead of Kieran O'Connor, thats the only Cork change.

Have you ever watched a Cork Kerry game? Cork are well capable of their own in your face tactics, and have just as many players booked/sent off as Tyrone.

I love these sweeping statements people come out with about Northern teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

From a Kerry perspective, this will be a cracking match.
Both immensly physical teams, neither afraid of hitting hard.
Possibly a few red cards. I can't see Pierce O'Neill keeping his head with Kevin Hughes giving him digs on the sly. Noel O'Leary on Dooher. Ryan Mc on anyone. Midfield will be a cracking duel! I think the McMahons will be the key for Tyrone... whether they play in the half forward line... or the full back line.

    Tyrone by 2.

In what way are you basing this? I don't see how being in your face has anything to do with sendings off.

Tyrone are undeniably a very aggressive team, whilst also being quite disciplined.

Also, he made a statement about one Northern team. Big fan of hyperbole?

Being in your face is being aggressive and last time I checked most of the top teams have a bit of aggression in their play.

And Cork aren't aggressive? I've lost count of the number of games where I've seen Cork players sent off. Don't let your bias get in the way of fair judgement please.

Yes, and there are regularly sweeping comments made about Northern teams on here. He referred to one but it is a regular occurence about many.

People are all too happy to follow the usual routine - we can't beat them so we'll complain about them.
