Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pricewise & Wayne Bailey Tips Log

Every day I will put €2 on the nose of each of the Pricewise Extra tips (including Tom Segal when available) and Wayne Baileys "Main Bet" tips for a few weeks to see if they'd really be worthwhile following them with some real cash. I will start of with a bank of €100 and see how far this will take me. I will use Betfair prices and I will do my best to add them here each morning as soon as I get them, I will then update the results in the evening.

Not too sure of the significance of seeing if they'd really be worthwhile following them with some real cash. You only have to look at the past performance of each, no matter how limited the history is to see if following them is worthwhile. Putting €2, €2m or absolutely nothing on as a stake has exactly the same effect for what you want.

How and ever if you are going to do so it might help to distinguish between your two sources when posting.

Surely you should put €2 per point advised too, to truly reflect the advice?!

At least one of the tipsters doesn't advise point stakes.

The only problem with that is that I don't know what advice the pricewise extra tips give. All I have access too is the name of the horses from mike65's thread. All of wayne bailey's tips are 1pt to win.
It's all a bit of fun really!

No, I didn't subscribe. Thanks to Mike and his detective work, we don't need to subscribe. :)

It'll be interesting to see how far this €100 will go

10 days in and I'm wondering is it really worth my while backing these horses? In fact, is it worth betting on horses at all?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Well if you bet Pricewise on the nose win only then possibly not. Webbow @ 12 placed would have doubled your e/w stake for example.

Well considering the bookies all rock up to the races in top of the range brand new cars I'd safe the only safe bet is that they always come out on top!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,303 ✭✭✭Boxfresh

I'm going to give it a month, depending on the profit/loss of this month will tell me whether I'm wasting my money or not and I will then make my mind up whether to ever gamble again. This is the first time I've ever actually recorded my bets and it's just making me think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 271 ✭✭Apple Orange

I find online accounts great for actually monitoring your bets. Even if you bet in the bookies too, your online account would generally speaking give an accurate enough idea of whether you're making money or not. Betfair records total deposits and total withdrawls over time, would almost guarantee that most punters have more total deposits!

Mike each way or not. I'm really starting to doubt -any- tipster out there. I've been following your thread for ages now, maybe they'll have a good month here and there but really in the long run I'm starting to wonder. Anything I did win on pricewise wouldn't be long going on some other horse or football match. Gambling maybe just isn't for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 691 ✭✭✭ghosttown

To me, it's got to be a hobby you enjoy, with some discipline, set yourself limits to what you'll bet, enjoy your winnings, share it with the other half, have a dinner out, book a night away, spend away from bookies. Having a bet on any sport makes it more enjoyable. I'm probably up on golf and down on other sports year to date, but i've had good days and good nights out as a result of it. And when I've lost, well it was money i allowed to lose anyway, same as someone paying for a round of golf or going over to a match. Moral is only bet what you can lose.....and try not give winnings back !!

    Boxfresh,

PW and PW-E have been poor enough lately its true but in July it was +77 points if one point staked per tip. In June Mel Collier landed two doubles at about 50 or 60/1 each so if you has back them e/w and as a double you'd have been laughing. Patience seems to be the key.

Hugh Talyor on ATR as followed on the other thread by qc3 is doing very well, with 3 winners in the last 3 days at 20/1 22/1 and 10/1. Maybe you should add him into your mix.

I'll keep going the way I am with pricewise and wayne's for now and we'll let that thread speak for itself and see how it'll get on after a month or so. Cheers Mike.
