Only 18 holes? Thanks David! This should be a runner so.

Busy weekend, Baltray Saturday (reduced to 18 holes) and Forrest Little Sunday (36 holes).

The way the driver is going I'm looking at 3 .1's.

Anyone else playing Forrest Little (besides you Graeme, because you play everywhere :p)

Anybody bring in a score yesterday in Forrest Little?

I took the nett, two 79's for nett 71's, was happy enough with that considering my game has been shoite all year.
It is my home course though:p

Just booked in for Carlow there, anybody heading down?

Yeah am looking forward to it, never played it but heard great things about it.The lady on the phone when I was booking was very nice. She asked if I had any preference for time and I just said that I was coming from Dublin and a time after 10 would be appreciated, she said she'd see what could be done.
    Fair play:)

My mate lives in Carlow so might stay down there on the Sunday night and go for a few pints after it.

Might actually check if there's any opens around there on the Saturday and make a weekend of it!
If there's no opens I might ring Mount Wolsley and have a fun round Sat avo, it's a lovely course.Highly recommended.

There's a junior scratch on this Sunday 28th in New Forest in Tyrrellspass.

Am thinking of heading down, but have never played it.
Anybody have any opinions on the place?
Is it worth a trip down from Dublin?
Looks pretty impressive on the website.

sounds like you have it sussed , Mount Wolsley is a savage track and should be played by anyone who gets a chance, I am reluctant to book anywhere else for this weekend cause my official handicap is 9.4 so a bad round in Carlow and I can play an open elsewhere ha.

    Confidence or what

Mount Wolseley is a fine course and is kept in great order... I was a member there when it opened... but the place really is all fur coat and no knickers.
Carlow is a real golf course.... stand at the back of the 12th green and take a 360 look around. No bulldozer shaped this track... magic.
Some of the planting at Mount Wolseley is plain wrong too... looks so unnatural. I know Kevin say's the 13th is his favourite hole but they planted a heap of weeping cotoneaster trees at the corner of the short dog-leg which ruined the hole... fine in a suburban garden but so out of place... well, like the rest of the place, not lacking for a money spent on it but lacking in a bit of class that would make it extra special.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 496 ✭✭Jasonw

There are a few JSC's within reach of me this weekend but I can only pick one. haven't played East Cork recently and haven't been a big fan. Not played either of the others. Anybody played any of the following recently and can report back on condition particularly the greens?

    East Cork
    Skibbereen
    Ring of Kerry

Just called Carlow there and got my time, out at 9:50, hopefully all the rain fell in that mental flash flood last night and we'll get a decent day!

    Anyone else heading down?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,848 ✭✭✭soundsham

    probably r o k i'd say
east cork isn't great and skibb is an awful track imo
only thing i heard r o k wasn't being maintained at all are you sure its on might be worth giving them a buzz

think theres an open day on sat in macroom might be worth a try, while i know cups are nice to play in those courses are not great at all
