I'm glad you all think you can add 1 pound of muscle every 2 days.
Could you please post that in the biology forums, those poor fellas could do with a good laugh. lol
Thats 1 kg of muscle in just 4 days lol.

Could you please shut up? You've displayed your ignorance again and again on this forum. You compared a block of cheese to a frickin Mars energy drink just the other day. You wanted to know why people need large quantities of protein while dieting... You've NO idea about bodybuilding, or anything related to gaining muscle, so what you think is irrelevant. Kevin Levrone's probably lost more muscle in one off season than you carry. I'd be pretty happy to take his word and claims over yours.

    Uuuurrrgh.

Well for starters the guy hasn't done a tap in 4 years, is now past his best and claims to be clean and he has gone from this:

    0211.jpg?w=300&h=225

    to this:

    033_33.jpg?w=300&h=225

    in two weeks.

No one is saying the first time Levrone picked up a barbell he added 40lb in 12 weeks.

The guy was unconventional in how he structured his season to say the least. He just took most of the year off to play music and live the life then hit the gym and the juice and stacked it all back on. That's the key he put 40lb back on in 12 weeks.

I wouldn't dismiss the ability of top level bodybuilders to add muscle using a few months of starting strength as your guide.

250g of muscle a day, its doable, theoretically. If you have prime anabolic conditions, in this case, jam packed with anabolic steroids on top of an almost perfect genetic basis for muscle gain, combined with crazy calories and protein intake, it might be possible. Particularly if someones epigenetic state was such that their body has been at such a large size before and they are training with insane intensity.

Again, 250g of muscle weight also consists of a fair bit of water, doubly so if androgenic steroids are used, which they'd have to be to put on that much mass so quick. So in terms of protein synthesis you're talking less than 100g a day.

Massively unlikely as it sounds, in these ideal conditions, I think it could happen.

The blog is very impressive, I don't think many other bodybuilders would let people into their lives/training as much as that, and show pictures that aren't his best (although obviously a lot of us would be pretty happy to be the size he is right now). I guess a lot of it is just about free publicity, but still, its interesting to see.

I agree, and I think that he could cash in on this if he wanted, there's plenty of supplement companies that would love to attach themselves to this transformation, but he's keeping it "for the fans".

Try eating dinner with a camera in your face. That camera person is nuts. I wanted to throw the camera out the window.

    brilliant!

"I'm doing this steroid free. I'm coming from a low weight and I haven't trained with free weights in over four years. The muscle memory and the fact that I'll be ramping up my calories from 1,500 a day to 3,000 a day is why I believe I'll be able to do 5lbs a week. I'm going to do this safely and I'll be telling you what I'm eating and what supplements I take, if any.

    Kevin"

    That's how it's possible apparently

He's eating 3000 calories a day and using no steroids.
If he weighs 200 pounds, then, he will need roughly 400 grams of protein per day.
How efficient do you think this man is at using that protein?
    400grams * 4 is 1600calories
    Whats his maintenance calories? 2000?
How much energy does it actually takes to BUILD 1lb of muscle?
    How much is entropy?

I'm sorry but your all wrong, none of it makes any sense !

I'm sorry but your all wrong.

Can you stop repeating the same thing over and over. Nobody said he was going to do those gains on his current diet, only that he did it once. Also, nobody said it was all muscle. If you have some evidence to the contrary, please bring it to the thread, but do so in a way that doesn't say "40lb's in 12 weeks, impossible" please.

Sorry... it's hard to take someone seriously when they try to be all science-y and definite in the things, and then make basic grammar mistakes ya know?

Right: This thread is doing my ****ing head in.

On one side we have PolishPaddy. He maintains that adding 40lb's of muscle in 12 weeks is in fact impossible. Maybe that's true, maybe it isn't. Nobody has brought anything conclusive to the table to be fair.

I'm going to have a little recap of this thread. I'll quote the start of the thread:
    Kev M wrote: »
and then put on 40+ lbs in the 12-16 weeks leading up to a show.

Muscle is not mentioned. The upper end of the timeframe mentioned is 16 weeks.

Paddy asked for clarification, itsAllAboutTheL stated that it was muscle, nobody mentioned timeframe.

The first person to mention 40lbs in 12 weeks was in fact Paddy.

After that we have this rinse repeat of "impossible", "not impossible", "impossible", "not impossible".

All of you: Stop repeating the same crap over and over please and being rude while you're at it. If anyone wants to dispute anything from this point on I want external links, not frickin "because he's super" or "x + y = z". I will reopen the thread in 15 minutes when you're all chilled out.

Not really the same as putting on 30/40 lbs of muscle in 16 weeks. If that was done in the 16 weeks before a competition you have to assume he put it on with minimal fat gain.
