Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You've got so much cool stuff going on in there... i'd lose the 909 hats and invent something to replace it if even needed... it's got legs and full of energy.

1:11 = this line is very out of character and doesn't sit well - nor the second time.

The drums and that dirty bassline really give the track attitude, i'd spend sometime working on some jungalist breaks and keep that shock factor going.

To my ears - you've got kicking rhythms, but then try to make a leadline work when the drums are really taking this baby along.

    Thanks for that! :)

The Mysterious Miss Terry - Who could it be?:D

The track needs to be a little faster I'd say & is probably in requirement of some hi freq stabs / melody etc.. just to break it up a little.

What did you use to make it?

oh i should stick up that track here when i get it onto soundcloud.

thanks man, it's sort of odd that for such a laid back track it has a slamming kick but for some reason it works.

Yeah.. Liking that, espcially the Reverb on the word Sick.

That Bedlam Track is cool. Bass rising up was a nice touch.

Listening on crap headphones on the Laptop here.. Whats the dealio with the Bass on that one?

Is it sitting under the Kick?

Is it just one big synth, or a couple of things layered up?

think there's 2 main basses going on.

it's one normal sub line. We chopped it up to give it that chugging thing.
Then there's a simple off beat bass too.

    Really like that one Sean.

What about introducing a new sound - a real crazy hi-pitched sound - rising up with it getting released as it goes..

When it kicks back in, put the release back down to where it was @ the beginning.. & then start her up all over again

Obvious one. A bit stereotypical too - but still great!

From a first impression listening, the first bass instrument sounds too weak. I think you were trying to offset that by having this really big saw bass then in the next section but the difference is too great I feel. Its too loud and sits over everything else in the rest of the song. I think you could find a happy medium by having the first bass sound a bit brighter and louder and then toning down the bass that fills the rest of the track.

So i had a small window of tme where i had the apt free to myself and decided id try finish this one.
It actually took on a life of its own and im really pleased with how it turned out.
Totally different from the link posted above.
its a rough mixdown, some of the synths are a bit wide and need there own space in the mix but hopefully ill get it sorted next time i get a free apt for a few hours.

    anyway,feedback appreciated

A slow, trip-hop-y style track, more notable for the backwards piano and other effects coming in and out. I'm especially proud of the creepy sounding choir that comes in before the main riff and beat starts, I sampled it from a recording a friend did and messed around with it a bit. Also some nice delayed guitar effects.

I've released the album this track is taken from on iTunes, so if you like please check out the rest of the album (and maybe buy a track or two!). The album is called The Sounds of Geisha, by Geisha.

    Hey all,

Been a while since I've been on here (can't remember my user names etc. etc.).

Here's a track I was working on www.myspace.com/ctrlofficial (yeah, yeah I know the official bit is taking the piss, got the idea from Shane Barry & The Distractions).

I'd have more tracks up except some bastards broke into my house on Wednesday night and nicked my laptop with all my stuff on it, oh and the two hard drives and two flash drives and oddly the cd's that I had all my work backed up onto (besides many other things)!!!!

    Anyway feed back appreciated!!!!

Drums are sweet as usual with your tracks. Not really the kind of thing id be into wen it comes to the breakdown, very nice melody tho, fairplay. Id probably change the pad sound a bit its a bit too stringy for me, the stabs are cool, i think adding a bit more shuffle to the track could make it a bit better.

Other than that its a sweet idea to build on, keep up the good work sean!

Yeah i thought that was it.

But yeah man as per usual youve got me drooling over your production quality, all your tracks have that polished sound that i find really hard to achieve.

The vocals samples are really cool, and i especially like that droney bass. Left you a few timed comments which are really only a matter of preference.

i think its cool when you hear a track and you know who produced it straight away, think youve definitely got your own style going man, remember us when your famous!

thanks man. tbh i was having a real tough few weeks lately doing tracks. And then I finally lost it and decided 'fcuk this, i'm gonna do things my way'. Glad i did now as I'm quite happy with that track (although i think i can get a better mix out of it).

Regarding the polish thing, you're not the first person to say that. Even labels get back to me sometimes declining a track but saying 'what are you using to mix the stuff etc.?'.

Weird really, because I try to de-polish my tracks as much as I can. I actually think mixing is my weakest link right now. My dad and grandad were both mix engineers so I guess I sort of grew up with mixing being the family business so to speak.

I think it's hilarious when I see all the lads over in the production forum going on about this plugin, that plugin, this compressor, that compressor etc. I used all the nicest hardware ever built when I was growing up and NOTHING comes close to what you can achieve in the box these days with Logic and even the bundled plugins. I use the most minimal setup (in fact it's getting smaller every month).

Btw, I think your stuff is genuinely phenomenal (and I'm not one for compliments). If I were you I'd stick to your hardware focused setup but then do all your mixing and mastering in logic after you've tracked all the audio. Think you'd be getting the best of both worlds then.

Anywho, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated!

definitely agree the track needs just that little bit more groove for it to work too.

Pretty cool Dragan, good atmosphere from the track. The synths work well together, the only think I would say is the drums don't have enough impact.
