Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone going? Was one of the lucky ones that got tickets to the O2 gig back in april and I can honestly say it was the best gig i'd ever been to (granted i've only been to a handful). Loved it so much me and few others got a few tickets to the punchestown gig through toutless. Me and my mate got right up to the front (about halfway down the walkway).
Hoping to get a similar postition for the punchestown gig but it's gonna be a whole lot harder with 70,000 people and the obvious inclusion of a pit.

Agreed, the o2 gig was faaaaaantastic!

There's actually about 700-800 tickets still available (or available again) from Ticketmaster for Punchestown

just checked ticketmaster there and it seems your right. i guess they were holding a few to increase demand. fan club tickets have been available aswell. either way i still managed to get 3 face value tickets very easily.

Yeah, i was thrilled when i heard thin lizzy were supporting also. it'll be the first of 2 times this year ill see them (again at metallica!)

    im going :)

Me too, and I'm definitely not a hard rock/metal fan - I like my EDM (trance/techno).. But I've a bit of an AC/DC streak in me too, and this'll be a gig to remember.

Is it really no cameras though? :(

I've been waiting my whole life to see AC/DC play and I missed the gig in the O2 so Im really excited about this gig!

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭DylanJames

Yeah I can't wait for it. Paid €300 for my ticket to the o2 on April and gladly would've paid double that, amazin' gig. I've been a massive fan since I was ten and even though I knew what I was gonna get, they exceeded all possible expectations.

Nope no luck for ya I'm afraid! And I wouldn't try setting up in any of the fields around cause you'll be moved fairly quickily.

You could give people a bit of help by letting them know from where.

I'm going to miss this! Frickin gutted, a mate seen them in the Point and said they were amazing. I had my tickets organised since January and plans made. All up in a heap now and tickets up on toutless today....... Balls:mad:

Has anyone bought a dublin bus ticket for the gig? I bought one but i'm a little sketchy on the details. Can you get on any of the buses between 12 and 6 that they are running or does it have to be a specific one?

hey guys, does anyone know the drinks policy for Punchestown or the ACDC gig policy. Wondering if I can bring in booze or not (obviously no bottles). Just wondering as I've never been to Punchestown, but I'd imagine they're going to be selling plastic cups of beer for 8 euro regardless

don't see anything about it on the promoters site or on the tickets.

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 Sparky29

I doubt ya can legally bring in booze but that wont stop alot of us from trying to sneak some in,

Does anyone know if they will be doing pit passes like what they would normally do for a day concert like this or will it be the oxegen one in one out system?

Hi. Does anyone know who's supporting ACDC next week?

There's nothing on MCD or Ticketmaster sites about who the support act(s) are. Gates open at 4pm so I can only assume there will be a few.
Have heard rumours of ThinLizzy but nothing definate...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,921 ✭✭✭deisedude

I've heard Thin Lizzy and the Answer will be supporting

It's on MCd.ie now but I read it on Last.fm on the event page. Someone knew anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 88 ✭✭Sinderella

Great thumbsdown, I see it there on their site now. Thanks! :D

    Can't wait!

This is gonna be awesome. Here's hoping the weather is at least dry.

Does anyone know or know where I can find out what the story is with feeder buses from Naas?
Can I get a lift to Naas and then just hop on a bus out to Punchestown and the same for the reverse? It worked really well last year for Oxegen.

Yeah, I can't wait! Anyone who doesn't go is nuts imo, fan or not, it's ACDC and it may well be the last time we get to see them here! Wish my son was old enuf to go too!

littlejp, last time we went to a gig in punchestown we got a lift to Goffs right beside Naas and got the free shuttle bus out to punchestown.
AFAIK there is always a free shuttle bus, just not sure if it's Goffs again.

Buses back to Naas were a nightmare, none left for over an hour and there was a mob of angry ppl ready to kill the bus briver by that stage.

Hope they have it better organised this time.

I live on the opposite side of Naas to Goffs. Punchestown is actually closer to my house than Goffs in normal traffic. Went to see Rage last summer and got the free bus from Naas. It was great. The gig finished at around midnight and I was home by 00:40. No complaints there. I hope they do the same for AC/DC.

is there any buses from newbridge

On a different topic, can anyone advise if I will be able to get into the gig on crutches? I presume there won't be an issue but I don't want to travel that far and be refused entry!

Been unable to get through to MCD to ask directly.

Also, never been to Punchestown before - would there be loads of space at the back where a crippled lad could throw himself down on the ground if he gets exhausted?

    Thanks,
    bobjim

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 Sparky29

Yeah you should get in no problem on crutches, get a doctors note if your really worried but doubt it would be necessary, plenty of room for ya to flake out on the grass at the back too should ya need it.

Anyone know if there are gonna be pit passes at all?

for the folks going to this, i trully hope dublin bus and mcd will learn from what happened at slane, otherwise the music will be great but everything else will be a disaster and cast a shadow over the day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 88 ✭✭Sinderella

    OH? What happened at Slane?
The buses were really bad last time we were at Punchestown but it must be hit or miss. Been there 3 times and the 1st 2 times we had no problems.

Had a problem with an MCD gig before and emailed them, they were very quick with a reply. If you wanna ask about crutches, try email bobjim

cant wait for this!!!! was real dissapointed i didnt get a ticket for the o2 and when i heard of this i was delighted:D!!!! less than a week:D just have to think on how to get there... bus or drive... hope they dont rip us off like normal for the merchandise!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,584 ✭✭✭TouchingVirus

I picked up some merchandise there a few days ago when I was in the States, not gonna get ripped off at the gig you see.

I also just got my tickets and it reiterates that there'll be no camera - what the hell is that all about? I'm not going to be taking an SLR with me or anything, just a regular digital camera - should I even bother because I certainly don't want them taking it off me!

i saw somewhere that sound and picture equipment aren't alloud... im just going to use my phone... i kno its not the best picture but it dosent have the risk of getting it taken off you...

I think I'll swap my phone for the sisters because it's got a better camera and just settle with that. It's pretty crap that we can't take in proper cameras though. I have a suspicion we might be seeing a Black Ice Tour DVD with portions from the Punchestown gig :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 646 ✭✭✭creativedrinker

yea its a stupid rule... im thinkin on gettin one of the sony camera phones wit a 5 meg pixil cause my phone is dying and going to metallica in aug aswell, cant wait for sunday tho....
Does any body know if the park and ride in goffs fills up fast??

  • Registered Users Posts: 88 ✭✭Sinderella

You're not allowed to take a camera or recording equipment into any gig, this one is no different so I don't see what the fuss is about.

I will be bringing my camera though, as always :D

I have never been searched / stopped for posession of a camera at any gig ever despite this rule...

I've seen them in June 96 at the point and it was one of the very first event I've been so close to them. Surprising enough, there weren't too many people at the time.
