I def think your calls will go out next week guys, i deferred to the july intake and it would coincide with the time that i got the call for the may intake. 6 weeks notice for start date and 4 for the SID

i am too worried about the 50/50 thing to get my hopes up about getting "that call".... am just concerned that my merit in the 360s is a wee bit too high for me to be considered for a post..... what is the highest merit scoring non rc that has been given a start date.... am trying to be sensible and not get too excited, but i have calculated that it must be in around 290? how many more intakes are there? 5? - july, aug, ? sept, oct, ?nov. so is that a potential 200 more places (100 for each with 50/50) for folk who have just been certified fit by ohw?

trying to be pragmatic..... i think i will actually burst into tears if i get the call,, the thought of getting out of my current job is just fantastic, am about to explode i hate the place soooooo much! grrrrrrr

My vetting did clear, funnily enough 2 days after i rang about it! So people take heart it can change overnight!
Its not that i'm pulling out as such its just that I have an awful lot going on and my family and i have lots to weigh up.
I don't want to upset people who think i'm being noncholant because I don't know what i'm doing as i am fully aware that some people would shoot their mothers to get a start date, but everyone has their own path to take and it can be difficult making the right descision.
I've come off the list as i'm not waiting to hear on anything anymore I just need to sort out now what we're going to do and make sure its the right choice for everyone.

BC, didn't mean to burst your bubble mate.... am just being sensible, sadly i know of too many folk in previous campaigns who were certified fit and then given the dear john when it came to 50/50.... they all went and got jobs in forces elsewhere because they were so scundered by the whole thing. am just making sure that all my chicks aren't counted before they have hatched.... there is too much room in this whole bloody process for things to go t*ts up.

yeah i go through phases where i have steely resilience about the whole process, then i lose that and get royally hacked off with the whole 50/50 thing and take a hump. the whole process is so irish its ridiculous

I understand your caution PSM re your position however i feel that we are in a positive position this time, Given that some candidates, e.g Forkman, recieved letters placing them on the reserve reserve list, that is the letter that says they're not sure what, if anything they're going to do with you but it's possible that they will do something. You didn't get one of them right? Well that's good in itself, also given that MGH has said on several occassions that the PSNI aren't going to waste £'s giving meds to people unecessarily, so i feel that those who have got meds & passed are in a strong position. Given your merit & the no of intakes left to go for C14 you are still up there with definite consideration. After all, we do not know of those who drop out, fail vetting, fail medicals or turn down offers.

I share your feelings re our position in the process & the fact that if all were equal we wouldn't have these concerns, however unfortunately for us this is not the case & so we must deal as best we can with the process as a whole. I do appreciate that at this time when things are moving forward it's extremely frustrating. Stay positive & all will come good, i'm confident of that;).
