The videos just show the end of it where the car crashes into a monument.

The stills are the only ones showing injured people.

Thought the driver is probably dead? :P

Im over here now...people are saying they still want to party and not let this ruin the day. That picture is horrible though.
People are saying the Queen was going to hand over to the Prince today as well...theres a press conference in an hour.

On another note, Queens days eve is mental, kicks the ass of St Paddys day.

How the hell did that car get in such a state before it hit the monument thing anyway?Surely if it crashed somewhere before word woulda got passed to the police or the bodyguards around the bus.

I thought that was her aswell but I'm not sure now. In the first (disturbing) picture she's barefoot but is wearing shoes in the recovery one. Possibly her mother? They are dressed very similarly.

    'Royal shock'

Cynthia Boll, a photographer at the scene, told the BBC the car was already badly damaged before it slammed into the crowds at high speed.

"There were people everywhere, you could definitely see that it was serious because everywhere was blood and shoes ripped off and all the people giving CPR," she said.

Dutch TV (http://www.nos.nl/journaal24/) is saying 2 dead, 23 injured, of which 6 seriously at the moment.

    4 dead.
This was not an accident, dipstick confirmed to the police that it was on purpose.
I can not find anything about motif and whether the attack was on the royal family or on the general public.

    wikipedia:
On April 30, 2009, around 11:50 in the morning, just before the bus with the royal family made its last turn towards palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn, a black older model Suzuki Swift crashed through the audience and slammed into a monument, just missing the open-topped bus carrying the royal family.[6] Four people are reported dead, 5 people suffering a major injury, and 8 people are mildly wounded.[6]
The driver, a 38 year old male Dutch national, was rescued by the fire department and subsequently arrested.[6] The car was examined by the anti-terrorist department and the local police. This search was conducted with live TV viewing.[7]
At 12:15 the National holiday program was cancelled in light of the tragedy, including all festivities in Apeldoorn.
The Queen addressed the nation in a video[8] and the police gave a press conference. At the press conference the police revealed that the driver, had told police after the crash that it was a deliberate act. There is no indication for the involvement of a terror group. The queen stated that it was a terrible drama that left the royal family speechless and expressed her condolences to the family and victims.

Has there been any explanation as to why the driver felt the need to plough into a crowd?

Unconfirmed but apparently the guy was denied access to his kids after a divorce.
Rulings like that in Holland are done "in name of the Queen bla bla bla..."

But as mentioned .. there is no confirmation about this.

Propably happened so fast that he didnt realise yet!
Im sure if he did know what was going on at this point that he wouldnt be ignoring it!

Am I the only one who doesnt really feel disturbed by these photos? Nothing too dramatic, just dead people.

I was expecting alot worse seeing as he just ploughed through the crowd so injuries like torn limbs etc.

You would imagine that it all happened within just a few seconds. If you look at the faces in the crowd some of them haven't reacted yet. Horrifying stuff.

There is certainly several limbs pointing in the wrong direction in some of the pictures from the Dutch news website linked earlier, and one of the YouTube videos shows lots of unconscious bodies across the street with people then giving CPR as well.

How much blood and gore do you need?
