I've searched and havent found this topic (if it exists then im one blind fook :) )Am just curious really.

personally make about €70 per month online give or take most months. on average what would your profit / loss be?

or is it really bad etiquette to ask?

I doubt you will get many people admitting to being losers, and you'll also get many people lying about how much they make. You shouldnt really worry about how much you make in a month or set any $$$ related targets as variance etc can play a bit part. I'd usually make about $1000 or so. Bonuses and Rakeback or a huge help though, alot will depend on how many hands I play aswell, this month for example I'll be doing well to his $400 or so.

I've lost count of how much I've lost

yeah I'm not really expecting many replies tbh and I know variance plays a good part. i usually only play the 0.10/0.25 tables as anymore and i'd prob end up losing a fortune on a bad run :(

I've been playing for 2/3 months, no matter how far up or down I go I always end up back at breaking even, it just makes no sense, or I'm just not good.

I've lost my big blind more often that I've saved it, don't even start me on my small blind.

I made myself look like a donkey more than once and have only lost my marbles many a night. I've been playin 3 years and say i would be down just around 6k that would have been mostly live though, but went on a heater a few weeks ago and got alot of it back.... but im still down but im learning alot more and am far more in control of myself which was a major cash leakage both online and live!!

I've won a total of €3,500 in tournaments (€2,900 of which was a freeroll run last summer).

I'm plus about €500 in live cash games

Online I'd say I'm break even or maybe -~€100, as I usually just played with whatever rakeback I got.

I only play tiny stakes, maybe someday I'll concentrate more on playing instead of donating.

Oh der will be lies...did you not know that no one wins online..ITS RIGGED :D

I am up but that's mainly due to always having decent bankroll management  and reading a lot while reviewing hands  I know when I stop caring and start playing less I should get in the minus! :D

    I lost around $800 yesterday.

Came close to it been a lot more though. Brand new €1500 laptop in hand and heading out the upstairs window. Just about gained control. I did damage the screen all right when I threw a beer bottle top at it :o

    up in monetary terms

but in terms of life-enhancement, I'd imagine I'm down overall

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭TripleAce

Up 8k € online in 2009 so far mainly playing SNG, with biggest tournament win of only 800€. I will never win a proper MTT, although I usually go deep I always find a way to blow it in the end, I probably lack gambling/aggression in the late stages of the tourneys although I am slowly improving.

The latest book I read "Poker Mindset" has been the key in preventing me from tilting my wins away during downswings.

    Up live.

Started playing mostly Omaha online since November/December. First couple of months I was a big loser. Getting the hang of it now.

    But still losing overall :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 539 ✭✭✭gorrrr72

Playing online around 4 years and live about 3 & a half.

Currently experimenting with turbo $10 sng's with an overall profit of $1100 in about 400 games.
Also play $10 rebuy or $10 freezout around 10 times a week. The sng profit pays for this. Biggest cash online was $3250 which I used to play in IO but didn't cash. Also qualified and played in IWF but didn't cash.
Overall live I'm about even, taking into consideration minus €3500 for the IO ticket.
Online profit 5k in around 10 months. Before that, down around 100 per month in over 3 years.
Was playing 1/2NL 9 or 10 handed 3 tables at a time on Full Tilt, Betfair and PPP built up an 8k BR and cashed 3400 out. Started a wicked downswing and lost 75% of it so lost confidence, stopped playing online cash. Back to $10 sng's and small stakes tournies and sats.

P.S. sorry about the rambling post. Tired, going to bed.

first 3 years online altogether, around 12k downswing....
    grinding away now :p

im up over 4k this year from $5-$20 sng's and I missed a month. I do play a sick amount of games though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 68 ✭✭Suited

I was about to give up on poker until I discovered proper bankroll managment(you tube- Chris Ferguson). I got $10 free for opening a VC account, I added $40 to the account and started playing $1 SNGs, I have gotten this up to $1100 since I started the 'experiment' in Dec, and I'm now playing €22 SNGs and MTTs. I have never withdrawn or re loaded.

I can't stress how brilliant proper bankroll managment is and it really has made me a better poker player. There have been times where I have had to move down, but I have never had any fear of going broke which has really helped my game. I'm now at the point of possibly withdrawing small ammounts per week although I'm not in any rush.

Should be easy enough. A nice ROI of 25% would mean staking 16000. Avg stake excluding reg. is $10 so you only need to play 18 or so games every day over 90 days.

I'd still like to see the graph though. What site is it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 684 ✭✭✭CL7

Up about $800 overall. Built up my br playing sit and go's and a tourney here and there. Started $10nl 6 max a few months ago and I'm up $187 from that. At Uni at the moment so hope to be up a lot more at the end of the summer.

25% roi? even dougee couldn't achieve that over a large sample imo

down 4k this year but haven't been playing much, maybe 100 hours.

i think if i really put the work in i can push my loserate to about 60 euro an hour.

    wish me luck!

hehehe, even dougee... people actually think i'm good now? :D

how much would you consider a large sample?
can honestly say my roi isn't that high but it is around the 20 mark, and 28% in my last 750 games on stars which is pretty decent imo... and would have been higher if it wasnt for the 6man games

I will post graphs if really wanted, spread out over 3 sites i think

Up a substantial amount from playing live.

Down about 2k online last year.

If I had a breathalyzer on my laptop I'd be up about 6k

In the last 4 years I have a ROI of 32% in live tournies, but an ROI of -1% in live cash. Online, who knows. I don't play enough to keep records so don't really care. Not much either way I'd imagine though.

surely its a hell of a lot easier to keep track online... sorry, i "lol" at weird things i guess

I rarely play online so don't bother trying to track across multiple sites. I'd say I play at least 10x more live than online.

Playing 4 years, Live about once a week (mostly tournaments, a little cash) Up almost 14k.

On-line down about 500, despite winning 2 donkaments with fields of 1800 to 2000, (about 4k total) , am a donkey on line, especially cash games.
