Any sign of a new episode or will we have to wait for it to be on RTE?

Having just watched six of the new episode two's (psych ward wouldn't work for some reason), I'm going to come off the fence here and say all of them are pretty awful. In saying that, I'm sure that the main reason for this poor standard is the miniscule budgets they had to work with. I just don't see the point of this competition. It will only end up making any new talent that may exist look like garbage. Maybe that's what RTE want?

Yep, 8000 euros wasted really and yet to little when you think about it :(

Most are good but I just can't sit through Jenny was a friend of mine and Running Low, and I switched both off after about 30 seconds. Too slow to start. Hardy Bucks as always has a good hook, but again, got a bit tired of it half way through. Rental Boys is a good concept but is very similar to Spaced in its execution... Happy Slapper- abysmal

I don't understand how you can say "most are good" and then say you switched off Jenny was a friend of mine and Running Low after 30 seconds, got tired of Hardy Bucks half way through and that Happy Slapper was abysmal.

Can't see anything coming close to Hardy Bucks to be honest. Happy Slapper and Jenny Was a Friend of Mine are muck. Running Low could be good but is ruined by poor writing, Pubworld seems obsessed with the special effects and is hurt by some shocking acting, Rental Boys is meh, and Psych Ward isn't loading.

Only because we haven't see psych ward. But I have to agree even I see the talent in Hardy Bucks now :(

Running Low has the best acting.

Here's one other problem with this competition. It's an RTE Drama department initiative, yet the majority of the entries seem to be more comedy based. Which is weird because I know several people that have had meetings with the drama dept and whenever comedy was mentioned they were told in no uncertain terms "We don't do comedy, we're drama". So at the end of this if, for example, hardy bucks were to win, I'm pretty much certain that the drama dept will have zero to do with them (they'll give them a pat on the head and tell them what talented guys they are and to definitely stay in touch and there's the door) and just kick them over to the entertainment department (otherwise known as the black hole of irish broadcasting where scripts/projects just disappear never to be seen again). Great prize!

The Hardy Bucks extended version of the episode on Youtube is far funnier that the cut-down version on the Storyland site.

    I recommend watching it:

    Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy8ZVZ5g_tQ
    Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UWV9XNXJVY

I watched the latest Hardy Bucks episode on Youtube, i dunno, not as funny as previous efforts. They were nearly trying to force the laughter in a few spots - what's so funny about a few suds and getting splashed from a puddle? The builder uncle was the best character by far, very true to life.

Maybe they've run out of steam already? Sure they might all head to Galway and that'll be the end of it.

I can see the "hardy bucks is the best of a bad lot" vs "hardy bucks is the best , full stop" starting now.

only watched the aforementioned along with slapper and rentals and my god if the rest are like that, the bucks have it easy.

Happy Slapper and the other teeny ones are off putting and TBH I didn't watch the second episodes. I only watch the second ep of Hardy Bucks because everyone is talking about, but honestly it isn't a patch on either Running Low or Psych Ward. But they are different genres so its not like comparing like with like.

I wanted to see Psych Ward but it is not up :(

Oh! I also watched Pub World :( good graphics.

I find it's the little touches in the Hardy Bucks that make it for me i.e. the same tune blaring from The Viper's car all the time, Buzz continually going on about palettes in this episode.

They've got great comic timing and if the writing and direction allow it they could become really great.

agreed, even if they tighten up the acting a bit that would improve the timing even further.

turns out i know the sound guy too! i texted him the other day and told him to tell the boo he was a feck wanker

This is why I think this is a great opportunity for them. Hopefully RTE are watching the extended episodes too. Matching the team up with an experienced director/producer team could prove to be very successful.

i dont know... hardy bucks good again... pity psych ward isent up yet... they are losing alot of votes id say...

take the money off running low... & pub world i bet ya they paid all there money to the hot one in it... its a weird story... they are brought to a pub... it has no where to go!!!

I dont get running low.. why are they paying for the big names? because they are getting the big names they were only able to make a video half as long as the maximum...

Rental boys is ok... id watch it.. if it was on tv.. a ya the amount of times i could see the crew in the sunglasses in the beginning.. shocking :P

Hardy bucks I think was good... French toast waving off the viper is a classic moment.. also the whole idea of a foam party.. classic... to the people above who think production should be uped.. i don't think so.. i think it adds to it.. like trailer park boys.. they sort of used the bad camera work as a joke them self's...

only one week of voting so next esps up in 2 weeks once its closed?

    Did anyone check the results?
Runnning low being knocked off was a bit of a surrprise, I thought that was one of the better ones.
No surprise that Jenny whatever is gone though

How did rental boys get ahead of Hardy Bucks? It's not even funny. The characters are annoying.
