    16. San Diego Chargers - B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College

I'd love for him to fall to my beloved Bolts. Nice pick.

Yeah and a bit of cut n paste from before...... It's as easy to leave it as is. We all know old Al has a 'thang' for speedy wideouts.

Does that not mean he'd be more inclined to take Darrius Heyward-Bey? He was the fastest at the combine.

Even for Al, Heyward-Bey might be a bit of a reach that high. But it is not out of the question. Maclin is this years DeSean Jackson without the ridiculously big ego.

Crabtree's a far superior pure receiver to either though,

Doesnt mean Oakland will take him, probably the opposite in fact, as people close to Davis say the fact that he didnt do a 40 at the combine could actually affect his rating on their board!,

    the guys class though

While Al does like Speed he rarely drafts WR high. Also, everything this off-season has been very un-Al like. No big FA signings, passed on TO, havent made a move for CJ. We'll draft crabtree, Raji or A. Smith.

Al isn't afraid to break with tradition. Case and point Ray Guy 1973.

    JD on the button.

    1. Raji
    2. Crabtree
    3. A. Smith(any of the other linemen if they fell)
    4. Trade down
    5. ugh...

Raji might be there. I'd be surprised if the Raiders pick him though. Tell u what though, if Raji is the pick u can be sure some of the guys below Al are having a stronger say in things.

Picking McFadden last year was so 'Al'. Not that there so many Superstar names there last year but wouldn't it have been nice to have picked say Clady, McKelvin, Mayo, Otah.....................

I still say Maclin, or another flashy speedster. Good luck with whoever they pick!.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 261 ✭✭TheHeadhunter

haha well personally id take sanchez if he was on the board! i joke i joke :D

If I were in the position to select I would go with Maclin or Heyward-Bey to be perfectly honest. Both can stretch the field big time and JaMarcus Russell has a cannon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Karlusss

I would pick Crabtree definitely if he fell. Mike Lombardi has NFLN convinced that Davis won't pick Crabtree because he doesn't have 40 time, but he's clearly the best wide receiver prospect and there's no point in reaching just for the sake of an OFFICIAL time (it's not like the guy's clunky on tape). Maclin's good too, and I'd take him at 7 where you have to assume he will be, if Crabtree is gone.

Dunno wot 'rounds' means but I guess in the case of Sanchez for example, if u think he is gone in the first 10 picks that is 4/11. If u think he goes later than pick 10 then that price is 15/8.

Unreal. I cannot believe PP are betting on the draft. It's fantastic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,017 ✭✭✭Leslie91

Oh and if u think Andre Smith for example slides past the Bengals then that is even money. I think that's a decent bet.

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,783 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Heres a wild scenario for you all. I was just thinking about Kansas and what they need now, they could do with a Linebacker but Tight End has to be high on their list of priorities after trading Tony Gonzalez. Now the first tight end to go in the draft this year is expected to be Brandon Pettigrew somewhere in the late teens or twenties. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs give up the no.3 pick for more picks later in the draft including a lower first round pick. Now with how quiet it has been in Foxboro I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Patriots look to move up if Aaron Curry was still on the board at no. 3. We haven't looked like bringing anybody in yet and we are in serious need of a big time Linebacker. We have bundles of picks and are in a serious position to work a picks trade. Of course the Broncos are also in a postion to do this and with the cap room they have now I wouldn't be surprised to see them looking for Curry too.

Just some mad thoughts about that pick and I know I'm probably way off the mark.:pac:

    1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford QB (Georgia)

The Lions havent been a good drafting team hence their terrible records in the past few years. There a team that has struggles in all aspects of the game and you tend to find when a team has equal struggles on O & D they make a reach for a franchise face and hope this works out the best for them. Their Linebacking corps is probably the strongest component of
an altogether weak franchise so for this reason I see them passing on the best player in the draft Arron Curry and instead they hope Matthew Stafford can be the pancea for their offensive failings. Personally I dont rate Stafford as a top 10 pick not to mind number 1 but for situational reasons the Lions pick Carson Palmer er Im mean Matthew Stafford

    2. St. Louis Rams - Eugene Monroe OT (Virgina)

For me this is a close one between Smith and Munroe. I give it to Monroe because he's slightly more agile and the Rams need that to protect Bulger's blindside for next season (although dont put it past them drafting a QB on day 1 who could emerge as the Rams starting QB sometime next season)

    3. Kansas City Chiefs - Jason Smith OT (Baylor)

Its widely predicted that the Chiefs will take Smith and I agree with that. The trade of Gonzalez to the Flacons tells me the Chiefs are going to try and do a lot on offense with Larry Johnson. They paid a big price to get their franchise face in with Matt Cassell and they are going to want to protect that investment. I believe they will have considered Curry as they were poor in terms of creating defensive pressure last season but with his
lack of proven pass rushing ability they pass on him, I think they go and consider Micheal Crabtree aswell as a weapon for Cassell, but revert to protecting their QB and developing a more potent run game as the most pressing concern.

    4. Seattle Seahawks - Mark Sanchez QB (USC)

Probably the most straightforward pick of the top 5. Hasslebeck is no spring chicken and injuries and age have seen his production drop off significantly. Granted he had probably the worst recieving options last season in the NFL due to injuries but at the end of the day the QB takes the plaudits and the criticism in equal measures when things are good or bad on offense. I really believe this is a weak draft class for QB's and Im not a Sanchez fan at all. I believe USC's strong defense has left him on the field an awful lot of the time with no pressure and its easy to look good when your not under pressure. That said the pundits believe hes the best fit for a west coast offense, I dont see it but hey, and as a result they take Sanchez as the heir apparant to Hasslebecks throne. If I was on the clock for the Seahawks I take Pat White, but Seattle take Sanchez.

    5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Curry LB (Wake Forrest)

Terrible on Offense & Defense last year. Strong shouts for Orakpo to help their defensive line or for Crabtree to help their recieving corps, but Its just too hard for the Browns to turn down the best player in the draft.
Browns pick Aaron Curry. A bargain draft for them

    6. Cincinnati Bengals - Andre Smith OT (Alabama)

The Bengals were awful on offense last year. A combination of sulking recievers and a terrible O Line, meant Fitzpatrick and Palmer had no chance. With TJ whosyomama gone its tempting to go with Crabtree, but really they need to shore up the O Line. I was underwhelmeded with what I have seen of Andre Smith in terms of his workout tape, and I also have a niggling doubt about his professional character and temperment. Its a gamble but one the Benglas take.

    7. Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree WR (Texas Tech)

A lot of people touting Maclin as the Raiders pick. I just cant agree. Crabtree is the best reciver in the draft bar none. I couldnt care less if Maclin or Heyword-Bey could get to the spot a microsecond faster, fact is Crabtree has better and, runs better routes and is the prototypical mould of a superstar reciever in the NFL. If the Raiders overlook him for another Wideout I'd have to seriously doubt their ability to become a force in this league anytime soon.

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars - B.J Raji DT (Boston College)

Offense dominates my early draft picks but the Jags buck that trend for me. Its a straight fight betwen Raji & Orakpo for selection, But for me Raji gets the nod for a few reasons.

    a) The need to replace Marcus Stroud
    b) Raji is a 3 down defensive player from game 1 next year
    where as Orakpo isn't
    c) Raji is a better player in my eyes.

And yes Im aware that they play different defensive positions before anybody points it out.

    9. Green Bay Packers - Brian Orakpo DE/LB (Texas)

Definatly a defensive player for the Cheeseheads. I considered Vontae Davis here as somebody they would have a look at, but I think they pick Orakpo as somebody to help them in the 3-4 Far from clearcut and the packers decision here could really mess up the whole of the first round with a curveball.

    10. San Francisco 49ers - Josh Freeman QB (Kansas State)

Almost a banker that San Fran draft a QB. Again I'm personally a big Pat White fan and think he's the QB most likely to win a superbowl ring out of this QB draft class, but the buzz around the NFL seems to indicate Freeman is rated as a better prospect. So against my expert judgement lol. The 49ers draft Josh Freeman

    11. Buffalo Bills - Michael Oher OT (Ole Miss)

Oher is an ok OT really a back end Round 1 / early round 2 pick in my eyes, but I think the Bills select him as they need somebody to plug in the gap left by the Peters trade.

    12. Denver Broncos - Pat White QB (West Virginia)

4 QB's in the first 12 picks am I insane ? Probably. Is this a Bronco's need ? The answer is clearly NO as their need is on the defensive side of the ball, but they seem to have a QB fettish, so I buck the trend that says they select a Brian Cushing or a Tyson Jackson type player and send them Pat White.

    13. Washington Redskins - Tyson Jackson DE (LSU)

Good prospect and the best DE left on the board. In such a strong offensive division the redskins really have to address the defensive line so Tyson Jackson is the logical choice.

    14. New Orleans Saints - Brian Cushing OLB (USC)

A terrible defensive football team. Cushing is the logical choice, thats not to say the Saints wont go with a running back as they similar to Denver appear to have Tunnel vision and its not beyond the realms of possibility that they take Chris Beanie Wells.

    15. Houston Texans - Aaron Maybin DE (Penn State)

Would really help that D Line Maybin and Super Mario could make this team a real playoff force. They looked really good last season on offense and I think this is a cast iron selection.

    16. San Diego Chargers - Ray Maualuga MLB (USC)

No really pressing needs for the chargers. Possibly a consideration for Chris Beanie Wells or Knowshon Moreno as a sucessor for LT, but I think they go for Maualuga.

    17. New York Jets - Knowshon Moreno RB (Georgia)

The jets need a signal caller but there isnt any first round material left so they go for a running back as their next most pressing offensive need.

    18. Denver Broncos (from Bears) - Everette Brown DE/LB (Florida
    State)

Having for their QB fettish out of the way the Broncos concentra on the defensive side of the ball. Brown although not the best Linebacker left on the board can also fill in a need as a D End and its the appeal of this that helps him over up the draft.

    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Vontae Davis DB (Illinois)

The best DB still on the board at #19 !! I beleive they have a D Line need but I think its hard for them to draft Peria Jerry over Davis

    20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) - Clay Matthews LB (USC)

Slightly contradiction my comments on pick 1 where I mention the linebacking corps of the Lions is their best department by making this pick, but the way I see it they have missed out on any first round OT material which is where they would have been looking to address. So with that in mind I think they go with Clay Matthews. I wouldnt be surprised if they went with Brandon Pettigrew here though hes a good blocker and could help that O Line. I think this would be a smart move for them but given the Falcons no longer have a TE need they gamble of Pettigrew being available first up in the second round.

    21. Philadelphia Eagles - Chris Beanie Wells RB (Ohio State)

Eagles want the replacement for Westbrook lined up so pick wells. As an Eagles fan I be much happier with Brandon Pettigrew being selected but I cant see them going for it. The obvious other option is for them to select Percy Harvin as that star reciever they havent had since T.O. left. Hes a top 10 draft talent, but the drugs failure at the combine and the apparant attitude problems associated with him mean they steer clear.

    22. Minnesota Vikings - Percy Harvin WR (Florida)

The Vikes take the Harvin gamble. They really need some recieving weapons to stop the box getting stacked on Peterson and that means its impossible not to take the risk on Harvin. The only missing pice of the Vikes offense now is a quarterback !!

    23. New England Patriots - Malcolm Jenkins DB (Ohio State)

The Pats could use some depth at CB and Jenkins impressed me in the tape ive seen of him. You never know with the Pats they could go a number of routes but hes the best defensive player left on the board for me so they go with him.

    24. Atlanta Falcons - Peria Jerry DT (Ole Miss)

Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Micheal the burner turner, tony Gonzalez. Hmm I wonder if they go for an offensive player .... Jerry isnt an instanT 3 down lineman but will help a team that is shaping up fantastically well

    25. Miami Dolphins - James Laurinaitis LB (Ohio State)

I think the Fins could do with drafting a wide out but I think the Parcells factor sees them go for Laurinaitis.

    26. Baltimore Ravens - Jeremy Maclin WR (Missouri)

Seriously how in the world has Maclin only gone at 26. Hes a way better player than #26 but I just think thats the way the draft falls. If this actually turns out this way the ravens are laughing. If Maclin is off the board then the obvious choice is Darrius Heyword-Bey

    27. Indianapolis Colts - Ziggy Hood DT (Missouri)

Pretty straight forward choice. Almost universially agreed on. Hes the best player to fit the Colts need at this stage of the draft.

    28. Bills (From Eagles) (from Carolina) - Brandon Pettigrew TE
    (Oaklahoma State)

To the annoyance of the Lions franchince who hoped he might slip to round 2 the Bills take Pettigrew off the board. Hes the best player left on the board so they have to go this route.

    29. New York Giants - Darrius Heyward-Bey WR (Maryland)

With the failure to get a trade sorted with the Browns and with the need to replace Plax. Heyard-Bey is the obvious draft choice for the Giants.

    30. Tennessee Titans - Robert Ayers DE (Tennessee)

DE is the position they want to fill most. Ayers is a gamble but when your this deep in the first round I think you can afford to take one.

    31. Arizona Cardinals - Donald Brown RB (UConn)

Cards need a running game. I havent seen anything outta Hightower that says hes the future. Brown is probably an underratted prospect so the Crads get some great larte round 1 value.

    32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Max Unger C (Oregon)

I really like this pick for the superbowl champs. I think he could turn out to be a Jeeff Saturday type Centre with massive Upside. The steelers also get great late round value.

this is what i hope rather then see, plus im including a couple of trades, such as the eagles giving a pick to Arizona for Boldin and the Giants giving one to Cleveland for Braylon Edwards, plus a flier at 26:

    1. Detroit Lions - Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest
    2. St. Louis Rams - Eugene Munroe OT Virginia
    3. Kansas City Chiefs - Jason Smith OT Baylor
    4. Seattle Seahawks - Mark Sanchez QB USC
    5. Cleveland Browns - Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
    6. Cincinnati Bengals - Andre Smith OT Alabama
    7. Oakland Raiders - Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
    8. Jacksonville Jaguars - BJ Raji DT Boston College
    9. Green Bay Packers - Aaron Maybin DE Penn State
    10. San Francisco 49ers - Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
    11. Buffalo Bills - Michael Oher OT Mississippi
    12. Denver Broncos - Brian Orakpo DE/OLB Texas
    13. Washington Redskins - Tyson Jackson DE LSU
    14. New Orleans Saints - Brian Cushing OLB USC
    15. Houston Texans - Robert Ayers DE Tennessee
    16. San Diego Chargers - Rey Maualuga ILB USC
    17. New York Jets - Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina
    18. Denver Broncos (from Bears) - Josh Freeman QB Kansas State
    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Malcom Jenkins CB Ohio State
    20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) - Eben Britton OT Arizona
    21. Arizona Cardinals (from Philadelphia Eagles) - Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia
    22. Minnesota Vikings - Percey Harvin WR Florida
    23. New England Patriots - Clay Matthews OLB USC
    24. Atlanta Falcons - Everette Brown DE FSU
    25. Miami Dolphins - James Laurinitis ILB Ohio State
    26. Baltimore Ravens - Pat White QB/WR/RB West Virginia
    27. Indianapolis Colts - Peria Jerry DT Mississippi
    28. Buffalo Bills (from Philadelphia Eagles) - Brandon Pettigrew TE Oaklahoma State
    29. Cleveland Browns (from New York Giants) - Vontae Davis CB Illinois
    30. Tennessee Titans - Evander Hood DT Missouri
    31. Arizona Cardinals - Darius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland
    32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Max Unger C Oregon

Some of these are stretches, i know, especially White at 26, but i think he could be the x-factor that the Ravens offence needs, he can line up anywhere and could really scare defences

    1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford QB (Georgia) They have Culpepper for one more year max and this is the best option for them.
    2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith OT (Baylor) Smith has been up top of the draft for weeks, I personally prefer Monroe but I think the Rams will take Smith.
    3. Kansas City Chiefs - Eugene Monore OT (Virginia) The Chiefs are gonna take a tackle to aid their new QB
    4. Seattle Seahawks - Mark Sanchez QB (USC) I think the Seahawks are nuts to take Sanchez but the word on the draft wire is that its exactly what they will do.
    5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Curry OLB (Wake Forest) A bit lower than most think and a perfect fit fo the Browns, could be the biggest star of the whole bunch in the NFL.
    6. Cincinnati Bengals - Brian Orakpo DE (Texas) Just what they need
    7. Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree WR (Texas Tech) Lots of needs but get this guy and if JeMarcus gets time then things will change and fast
    8. Jacksonville Jaguars - BJ Raji DT (Boston) Have more pressing needs but they do need a DT and they can't let this guy pass them by
    9. Green Bay Packers - Everette Brown DE/OLB(Florida State) Either him or Maybin will be going to the pack.
    10. San Francisco 49ers - Andre Smith OT (Alabama) I didn't think he would fall this far, he was fancied as no.1 at on stage but it looks like it will happen and the 49ers can't pass up on him.
    11. Buffalo Bills - Michael Oher OT (Mississippi) Urgent requirment for the Bills and a player I like but his stock has dived over the last few weeks, its hard to believe that he will be going this late as well.
    12. Denver Broncos - Tyson Jackson DE (LSU) They have a lot of needs on defense but this guy has risen sharply in the draft rankings over the last few weeks and I think the Broncos take him and use their second pick for a Linebacker.
    13. Washington Redskins - Robert Ayers DE (Tennessee) This is a tough pick, they need somebody in this position but this is the first pick for me where you pick the best available rather than your biggest need. I think all the big name OTs are gone at this stage but you can't pass up on Ayers.
    14. New Orleans Saints - Malcolm Jenkins CB/S (Ohio State) Huge gaping holes in their defense but they have to stop the deep threat and if Jenkins is still available he will not pass here.
    15. Houston Texans - Brian Cushing OLB (USC) Texans have a number of issues to solve but they have been courting Cushing so I'll put him in here.
    16. San Diego Chargers - Rey Maualaga ILB (USC) Its no secret who they want and they will get him at no. 16.
    17. New York Jets - Jeremy Maclin WR (Missouri) Now there are big rumours about the Jets looking to move up the draft to secure Sanchez, I think if that doesn't happen they have to take a WR here. This is where I know I can't be right because everyone sees Maclin in the top 12 at least but I have him falling all the way to 17.
    18. Denver Broncos - James Laurinaitus LB (Ohio State) He fits the bill perfectly for the Broncos, he is flexible and can play inside or outside.
    19. Tampa Bay Buccanneers - Josh Freeman - QB (Kansas State) I think the Bucs will take the chance here, the Jets might do it also but I just feel the Bucs will take Freeman, they really need a QB.

I stop again, don't know if I'll get this finished before the draft but I've had enough of it for now.

ugh!!! Why did the Jags have to take Eugene Monroe....i know hes a great player and all but OT really wasnt their most glaring need....would have much preferred them to have taken BJ Raji and put him in beside Big John Henderson

28 out my 32 were selected in round 1. I had 5 in the right spot.
