1979SD, that is encouraging to hear - but how reliable are your resources about rolling over to the subsequent campaign? I'm not doubting them but I have heard the opposite; that applicants that are not chosen do get a letter and the entire process starts from scratch again.
I hope that isn't the case, as you'd think all the time and money that was spent on vetting you and giving you a medical wouldn't go to waste!
I am so eager to hear if anyone gets a call this week.....

There are a handful of applicants on the boards at the moment who applied from campaign 13 and have just or are about to just start, i think Given is one of them - but I have no idea why certain people are allowed into the next campaign and others are not. That is what i'm hoping to find out.
What happens to those of us with good merit numbers, well inside the top 440 who don't get offered a place for whatever reason (vetting ongoing being the probable one) - do we get a dear john letter and someone with a worse merit number takes our place?
I've been told by external appts that if a place is selected for you it will be held for as long as it takes your vetting to clear - but i don't understand how you would get selected for a place before your vetting clears?
Someone who works in the vetting dept or recruitment dept should become a boardie and let us in on a few secrets!!

I just wish this entire process was more clear and transparent!

Well not my first campaign but C14 is the first time I wasn't told to bugger off (first time C12 failed the AC and second time C13 passed just not high enough score) but have had my medical oddly before vetting was concluded and now am just waiting for the stuff to get back up from Thurles which is just another waiting game. And Track being on the waiting list especially knowing I have the score and that my vetting won't show anything that would get in my way is frustrating I know but I'll be honest this is no where near the worst one I've encountered and while it frays the nerves everytime you know people are getting called up it could be worse .

I'm sure this has been asked before, so apologies in advance: Does anyone know if there are intakes every month until the end of the year? So far I've heard that June is excluded; anyone know of any intakes onward from Sept??? I'm not sure how to attain this info other than boards speculation!

Simply its your identification number for the current recruiting campaign. If you filled in an application (online or otherwise) when you get your letter inviting you to the initial test your UID is on the top of the letter usually near your name. Best of luck and I'm sure there is plenty of information around here and people with information that you will find. ;)

I imagine I'm in a boat that literally thousands before me and many more after have and will be in but is there anything anyone can say that will in any way assist my sanity, I have the merit position to get in but I'm waiting on vetting section to give their blessing and the wait just eats away at my nerves, extra frayed because I once waited for over a full year for a similar line of work after which I was told to get lost just because so. any advice or even just something nice someone has in mind would be great. Thanks all,

Its really hard to stay positive. My sanity slips on an almost weekly basis. Ive tried extremely hard to think about something, anything other than vetting. But it just keeps creeping back in there....Like a creepy thing.

I'm just over the 6 month mark now and hoping it won't be much longer. I mean my merit position suggests September alright enough and so theres time to get it cleared through but thats no comfort. Although knowing I'm among others in the same spot who have exactly the same difficulties maintaining our tenuous grip on reality . Also that people sent back vetting in 08 same as me for C14 certainly helps ease the nerves a little. Thanks and hopin we all get through it soon.

I really was under the (dis)illusion that I was the only person in the world losing my marbles over this when I stumbled upon this forum. Now I know I'm surrounded by fellow nutcases. Its comforting in the strangest way possible. My friend has been in for a number of years now and she tells me i will forget about the crazy times. She makes no sense to me at the moment.

Isnt he sweet though? Just want to rub your knuckles into his wee head little brother fashion and give him money for flying saucer sweeties so you can watch him being scraped from the ceiling in not a patronising way at all. Im auld enough to haven given birth to him the wee whippersnapper....
