The only way you could say that for sure is if you were Gerry Ryan.

OR if you read his book and noticed the recurring and overriding theme...ie Gerry Ryan as A-list celebrity, raconteur, orator, genius, style icon and role model for the cloth-cap wearing,church-going hoi polloi that inhabit the country.

There's no such thing as trolling in the "real world"..its an internet forum expression that doesnt translate anywhere else.
    What he's doing is pontificating.
He actually, genuinley believes that people want to read the minutae of his life and prostrate themselves before his impeccable taste and ample funds.
    His arrogance is quite astounding.

Nope, he's a troll, the expression carries over quite well, and the fact that the mearest mention of his name sends you into a seething, impotent rage show's that he's not only a troll, but a highly sucessful one.

Yeah admittedly he's more hip replacement than hip. But Tubridy is good on the radio. Not worth that kind of money but he is good at what he does.

Then we get to New York and there's a limousine waiting to take us to Manhattan - We check into Fitzpatrick's and go upstairs to one of the suites, or as we did last year, to the penthouse ... And the path is always greased. Maybe U2 are playing in Giants Stadium, and the backstage passes will be waiting for us in the Rockefeller ....

I defy anyone to say that's not a good way to travel.

In "real" life a troll lives under bridges and eats billy goats.
On the internet they say things they may or may not believe in order to stir up trouble.
He completely believes all the **** he spouts because he's so locked into his own self-importance that he cant see the absurdity of it.
A Troll on the internet might write with thier tongue in thier cheek but he isnt intelligent enough to play devils advocate.

Or he's really just playing up to a character that he knows will have this effect on people. You loath him, fine. But you're still talking about him, giving him attention. It's the same as Micheal O'Leary and his "i'll charge you to use the toilets" thing. Got people talking.

How anyone can see him as anything the obvious is a testament to how damn good he is at trolling.

I've just checked the Hotel Meurice for my birthday later this month.....I wonder where Gerry leaves his socks? I got a nice rate of €400, that does not include access to the cigars!

I was also wondering about this thing he has about talking about himself in the third person, has anyone noticed? I think he thinks he's royalty? A bit like Louis XIV perhaps? Let the revolution arrive!

To be honest these "Troll" comments worry me slightly.

By saying that Gerry Ryan's obnoxious arrogance is only a form of trolling is like branding him a crafty rogue and then excusing him.

To be honest its comparable to calling Josef Fritzl "a hoarder" - inaccurate and inappropriate.

    - Anyway; I can end this argument right now by proving it all beyond doubt.

    He named his son Rex.
Thats right the child is called Rex Ryan.
Taking this a bit further, "Rex" translates from latin into "King".
Therefore, in summary, he named his child King Ryan.

    QED.

Here's whaty he thinks about property developers
"I'm a great fan of property developers because i really believe they turned the country round...
These guys really are our merchant princes.
I think there's been a lot of pointelss tut-tutting in relation to the amount of money they've made.
The likes of Sean Dunne,Harry Crosbie and Johhny Ronan pulled ireland up by its bootlaces and propelled it into the future.
Because i've celebrated the merchant-prince class,i get asked to officiate at the launch of new developments, something i'm more than happy to do..if the price is right".

    He then goes on

"The guy i was intevrviewing said 'you know what?you get the horn when you're standing beside money'.
And i said '****ing right i do,and so should we all'.
No money is crap, more money is better"

A fat poster-boy for early noughties corruption and greed,he deserves a dose of humble pie to knock the arrogance out of his grotesque head.

No, he is an unintentional troll. His mere existance annoys the f**k out of others - me included.

This argument is poor, the fact is that the we shouldn't have to - a significant portion of the TV license fee is a Gerry Ryan tax in disguise.

We are just too used to getting nothing back in return when we pay our taxes in this miserable Country....

    - We are paying for that cnut; therefore he is on our payroll - seems only fair that we can assess his performance and then fire him for not living up to the standards we expect.

    "Next!!!"

Axing the sleazy, obnoxious, physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, talentless knacker at this stage is a non runner because RTE would still have to pay him for the remainder of his contract. Ryan is the radio /tv equivalent of the worst type of tabloid, as fcuking low as you'll get but like the papers he has an audience and that's the sad part - much as I can't abide the cnut he's here to stay.

So the FatMan took a paycut live on air just now, does this mean he can keep his job ? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

That announcement was unreal. He rambled on for about 6 or 7 minutes about what a tough decision it was before revealing that he WOULD be taking the paycut. What a knob.
