A la carte refers to my ability to choose for myself, not my current supposedly evil state of non-belief.

    Uh I think I did.

    Uh I think I did.
My reading of your posts is that your parents raised you with a pick and choose attitude towards Catholicism. " A la carte" is a menu where you get to pick and choose your likes and dislikes. You dont get "a la carte " religions - you either believe or you dont.

Im a bit confused here. Your parents hardly arrived to the breakfast table on your 15th birthday and said "todays the day - choose God or atheism".

I would read that a "a la carte" approach meant your parents were or are lax or lapsed Catholics - and thats not judging them. Not believing is not a revoloutionary thing -neither is it evil. Not believing is sort of more to do with salvation.

So now the question - the original poster an atheist asked if atheists are evil?. That would be more an absence of morals or ethics and a conscious decision to harm or disregard the welfare of others.

Seeing that based on your posts I cant see any of it -then I assume you are not. IF you assume that being an atheist means you are evil I think you are operating under a misconception. Its a subjective thing for you to judge yourself as an atheist.

OK, guys, as promised I'm locking the thread.

An atheist started a thread entitled "Are atheists evil?" and as a result we've had a bunch of other atheists lecturing Christians for being so judgemental as to ask such a question.

BTW, I don't think atheists are any more evil than anyone else - but on the evidence of this thread a lot of them are barely literate or just too lazy to be arsed reading the OP before they post in a thread.
