Supposedly there's been a few reported cases of him found behind the likes of the clinic after falling to his death, which I suspect happened in my case.

Its after happening again to me - Sienna whats her name (Head of the regulators is after vanishing out of Regulator HQ now. Which is kind of annoying I have 100's of fingers to sell off to her. I wanted the karma boost :(

    So thats -
    Walter
    Moriarty
    Sienna

    So far.

Lol yeah it sucks alright :), i didnt take that perk personally as i am a goody two shoes in my first run through. Im like the last hope for humanity so unless i like kill some kids or something i recon im good ( on the plus side when i kill people like Tenpenny i get good Karma :) ).

Probably not so bad that Moriart is dead, had the urge to kill him when i was talking to him.

I just did the Vault 112 quest
where you have to go around causing havoc in 1950s suburbia.

Oh good lord it was Brilliant, running around as the L'il Slasher or sending in the Chinese soldiers to kill everyone.

    It was fan-fecking-tastic.

Sorry to butt in here but didn't really want to start a new thread on this.

I didn't ever really get into Oblivion (PC), never really gave it a chance maybe....am I going to hate Fallout3?
The whole premise behind the game appeals to me a lot...I've not played any of the rest of the series though and I'm not all that much into RPGs on the whole, but I get the feeling I might enjoy this...so yay or nay in your opinion?
xb360 BTW if that makes a difference...
I know many many people who hated Oblivion and love Fallout 3.

It doesn't really as much like an RPG as Oblivion did, and I was a bit sick of the whole Swords and Sorcery feel of RPGs, Fallout uses guns and is more Mad Max than lord of the Rings, it also seems a lot more efficient than Oblivion and nowhere near as much of a drain on the PC resources.

The characters really engage you, Oblivion characters were horrendous and all almost interchangable. Fallout you actually care about them and manys the time where I was forced to help a character and go out of my way purely because the character felt real and had problems.

Best of all though is how bloody hilarious some of the game is.
Fallout was always famous for having a tongue in cheek level of humour throughout and Fallout 3 does not disappoint.

Right, I finished this last night and I loved every minute of it but I have to say I was disappointed with how the main quest played out. Luckily I abandoned it for most of my play time and got a lot of exploring done. If I hadn't I might not have been as forgiving.

The quest itself seemed quite short and more like part of a bigger story arc that I would have liked to have seen.
I'd have liked to have survived the Purity chamber and actually had a chance to interact with the world after I purified the water or used the modified FEV. The way it ended more like the end of Act 1. With Act 2 being experiencing the consequences of pure water / FEV killing wastelanders and Act 3 either crushing the Enclave or helping them take over the wasteland.
Although I'm sure that's being saved for an expansion pack or Fallout 4.

I also would have liked to have seen more Vaults and the results of the crazy experiments they carried out. Granted you only play in a small section of DC and one city wouldn't be loaded with Vaults but still
the Vault with the virtual reality and the one with the hallucinations
were brilliant and I would have eagerly hunted down other Vaults if similar brilliance would have ensued.

All in all though, it was very enjoyable. Gonna go have a replay with a character that doesn't shoot faces first and ask questions later...

    Regarding the vault 112 quest:
I hadn't done any of the main quests before it and wandered around only to discover the vault by accident. Some of the things didn't make sense entirely. I mean, I walk in the door and it says quest completed for finding the father and a new quest starts. Just how exactly do you know he's in there? Then when you rescue him he talks about the project purity thing like you know about it.
I think it was cool that you could just discover him just like that but I think they should have varied the dialogue a bit so as it could cater for a case where you actually have no idea why he's there or that he's there until you get into Tranquility Lane.

I like that there's so many ways you can complete the quests, and not in a specific order. I only finally decided to go to Megaton at level 12!

Yeah the same thing happened to me with 112. Was a bit confusing with him ranting on like I knew what was happening. Something similar happened with Vault 87
I was exploring and somehow got in and released Falkes next thing I know he ranting on about the GECK.

Ha, really? Megaton ceased to exist by the time I was level 2. I'm still getting stick from it ever since.

    Thanks to anyone who replied.
Main reason I didn't stick with Oblivion was the whole fantasy D'n'D feeling to it, it's a bit hackneyed at this stage for me...I loved the openness, but couldn't stick with the grind to level up and couldn't really find a direction for my character. I grew bored of it early on and probably only ever scraped the surface of the game which is a shame...I just don't want to go out and pay 50 quid for another RPG to have it end up gathering dust beside Oblivion...from the sounds of things it probably wouldn't. Might pick it up and invest some time in it over xmas.

'd highly reccomend picking it up.
One thing I hated about Oblivion was how meaningless the levelling up was. You ended up with bandits better equipped than the Emporers bodyguard.

Fallout 3 involves a perk every time you level up. Some are just plain useful (increased criticals), some are weird (enemy dies in a horrible way) and others are just plain cool (stranger appears witha magnum to finish off your enemy)
Really makes the game seem different, but far better is the good/evil polarity. Oblivion was almost always the same, no matter how many times you played through. Fallout has a clear division so you can choose to either do the good or bad thing. Other times it's incredibly ambiguous and you turn out to have done the bad thing while trying to do good. It's wonderfully complicated and no run through is identical.

Personally I liked the way Fallout and Fallout 2 worked with the Perks system, every three levels you gain a new one. At times it had me sitting there thinking for about 10 minutes which would better suit me later in the game.

Only problem i have with 3, is how quickly you become an unstoppable killing machine. I reckon if you left 101 at the start and just wandered about the wasterlands without entering anywhere you could hit level 10 in a few hours and then start the "actual" game as the T-1000

I do love it but on reflection its very easy to become an unstoppable machine.

Wonder what the exp pack will bring :D i want California

Ain't that the truth (about the ambiguity & the result being bad, despite doing good):
I thought I was doing a good deed for the maligned ghouls shunned from Tenpenny Tower by peacefully persuading the human residents to accept the ghouls into the swanky residences. Nobody died, I got myself some Karma points & everyone won.

Nope! First, Alaister Tenpenny got bumped off & later I returned to find that the ghouls had murdered every single human in there & it was now full of feral ghouls. I felt so cheated by Roy Phillips (the ghoul leader) having taken the time to seek a peaceful solution I loaded an earlier save, before that mission & killed the sod. I took the negative Karma hit but felt better. Bigots they may have been but the humans had cause to be paranoid & didn't deserve that fate.

What the hell! The slaves were meant to meet me outside the Lincoln memorial, I fast traveled there and nothing! I even waited 24 hours and they still didn't appear, this game is so glitchy I can't even finish the quest.

That took a while for me.
I think they are literally crawling across the wasteland, and it takes more than one day. Try waiting for a good while. Also note, that they appear at the metro marked on your HUD/map, not at the memorial.

I had to use some sort of "find npc" console command this evening to find the waterworks guy. Turns out he had fallen through the map, aong with Moriarity and another Megaton dweller... lucky I'm able to hack them back on the PC :(

I had the same problem. They appeared at the metro station near the memorial and when I went up to them, they started crawling across the wasteland, heading in the other direction:eek:

I gave up but went back about a week later and they were back at the metro station. This time they actually came with me the right direction.

    Has anyone found:
Abraham Lincoln's Repeater? It's a fecking brilliant gun and it makes a cool noise when you absolutely mince someone.

I'm currently on my second play through. I started as evil but as time went on I just couldn't bring myself to do the evil things necessary for bad karma. Does that make me a sap? Almost certainly so. I ended up as a level 20 'Paradigm of Humanity' which is something I suppose.

I've just noticed that you can target things like thrown grenades in VATS and detonate them in flight.

Yes, I loved that gun. My guy transformed into an Abe Lincoln wannabe wihtout me even noticing (yeah, that beard looks class/ the hat gives +1intelligence, sweet/ oh wow, what a class rifle etc)

I felt bad though when I had the rifle and the slaves were asking me for it so I handed it over. Crying shame as it was so bloody powerful, used .44 ammo too.

I haven't enjoyed a game this much in years. That was one of the best missions ever. This sort of quest makes oblivion look like a child's game!

My main problem with the game was that it was far too short. I did the main quest in 16hrs. I thought there would be a good 40-50hrs left in it. Ah damn.

Just snagged this on ebay for about 35 notes...looking forward to it.

The main quest itself is short, but going out of your way does reveal many other quests, exploring is rewarded. Taking the explorer perk will reveal all the major locations and speed things up if you do.

Screw the main quest. Let Papa 101 rot for a while, the wasteland needs some taming damnit :D

Literally just finished it last night to my surprise. The first half of the main quest was paced very nicely because you were forced into side missions that at that stage took a while because I wasn't that powerful but were still relevant to the main quest (
    G.N.R. Broadcast Dish for example
. The latter half of the quest can be pissed through with very few attached side quests to take your mind off it.

    I went from
meeting dad to getting the G.E.C.K. to the lincoln memorial again
in about 2 hours. Which was a shame because I really started getting into it about half way through the main quest. By half way I mean the number of sections - not the time it takes. I thought the whole thing really started to unfold nicely after I was
    captured by the enclave
little did I know I was within an hour of the end.

Also - bugged me about the ending:
You had to choose who went in to activate the purifier yea? I did the hero thing and sacrificed myself, but what annoyed me was that I had Fawkes along (the friendly mutant from Vault 87) - he went in to radiation to get the G.E.C.K. - why couldn't I send him in? Everyone is happy then.
