Yeah its gone that bit too far now given the count has hit 7. The last two were just great bargains I couldn't pass up. Even if my senses were to fail me again , I've just nowhere else to put anymore gear.

Well if it means anything to you, if i had a steady job and a credit card id be worse off.

Id be spending a lot lot more on a catalogue of PRS guitar's, eveni if you dont think there worth the price(i know you love your eggles a lot more ;) ) im just infatuated with them......to the point where its not healthy.

Yeah jobwise things aren't too hot here either, but as it stands it pays well but can be pretty stressful. The stress was off the meter last year and that's when the guitars started to arrive - I think the guitars were the only thing that kept me sane...

The thing about the eggles is that if you know what you're looking for they can work out pretty cheap for what you get - there can be some real bargains there - if there's ever another meetup in town (dub) I'll lug in a Berlin Pro and an NY for people to like or loath as appropriate :)

My sin turns one at the end of the month, and in honour of this I bought him his first guitar.

It's the ESP Kirk Hammett Junior model

He won't be able to get his hands around it for quite a few years, but I hope he knows how cool his old man (thinks he) is when he gets older.

Ah you're such a great Dad, kids always come first ;) :pac: :p

Dare I ask what kind of €€€?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

    About €900 + shipping/tax..

But mine was on the upper end with all the 5A quilt and flamed neck, gold hardware etc. It would be a couple hundred less without so much figured wood, or with lower grade figuring. Its a custom shop, so whatever you want, Strat, Tele, lefty, set-neck, reverse headstock, whatever you can think up.

I'll do a thread in a few days with a review of the guitar and also how I found the luthiers to deal with. Site is www.guitarandpickup.com (very slow), the UK distributer also has a basic site up and running (www.atlas.dymani.com/main.htm).

That's not how you spell Bacchus!

Nice haul, are these destined for projects?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Yeah, I won't tune them to B, I've got something else in mind for them... I'm just a sucker for V's and, as the saying goes, if you don't like Explorers you're a bleedin wuss :P

    I just couldn't resist :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,817 ✭✭✭✭Dord

You just need a Moderne now to complete the trio! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,157 ✭✭✭✭Alanstrainor

Noice. What guitar did you trade then?
Oh, and can i have one! Hint hint at the V. Hehe.

    Fact :pac:

What's the plan for the Explorer?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

The more I think about it, the more a little voice is telling me to put a black scratchplate and chrome Iommi humbuckers into it. It needs a bit of work anyway, but there may be another thread in it :D

The V is mint, it really is, just needs a bit of a setup tweak and it's good to go.

Then again, a black sctachplate on that and Iommi humbuckers might work in that too :P

    Damn little voice :pac:

    Noice! DC's FTW! :D

I've been looking at Hamer's recently, they make some damn fine guitars. I wouldn't mind a Vector.

Nice! An old mate of mine had a Chaparral, I think it was, back in the early 90's, Hamer make some wonderful guitars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

Nice One Boycey. Don't think I have ever experienced a Hamer. Did you just blow the Blackstar budget?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

That's some nice gear, the Schecter and Ibanez in particular

Cheers, the Schecter is an absolute dream - plays better than it looks and the tone off it is beautiful; the 26.5" neck and EMG 707s can make for a pretty hefty sound and all for only €500 too (eBay). The Ibanez is plays beautifully and the neck is one of the fastest I've ever come across. The trem is nowhere near as good as an OFR though and the stock pups are pretty shite, I'm planning to throw in some DiMarzios when I have some spare cash.

Those guitars deserve separate pics each, some sweet gear there. 3082866834_3991ba605e_o.gif

The Blackstar budget is still safe, waiting patiently never was my forte though! Waiting for the call from x-music (I still havent been out there yet).
