I'd break as soon as they start pushing matches under my fingernails... ouchies! then again I'd break if they called me bad names.

Fellow POWs that were in the Hanoi Hilton have already backed up his story, including POWs that were there for an even longer period of time than McCain.

Some people are just made of stern stuff and can handle all that's thrown at them. Plus, since they were at war with the people torturing them.... It may have just been a pride thing.

Then again, I was never in such a situation so who knows?

Some people might be able to switch themselves off in such situations, mind over matter. If people under hypnosis can be operated on, and not feel anything, then it must be possible.

What amazes me is how there are some people that are so affronted by the idea of complimenting the guy on his cajones. Such is their fear of being labelled "Right-wing", they have to ramble on about the rights and wrongs of the vietnam war, or how the guy is a republic.

So, what? He survived 5 and a half years in the Hanoi Hilton. Full respect to the guy for getting through it, regardless of his politics.
    Agreed.

Interesting that he's seen and been through the horrors of war first hand and yet still supports another one.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Well, I don't think anyone thinks war is a piece of piss!!!!

What do you think of his powers of endurance though?

That's fanatical patriotism for you. Although Ron Kovic is an example of someone who did a massive u-turn...

No offence, but they're just some people on a website claiming he was a squealer. I think their bias is pretty obvious too.

The only facts they quote are the stuff that mccain admitted doing. That is, he allowed them to make some recordings of him saying prisoners weren't being ill treated etc. Everyone has seen those vidoes in every war, and everyone knows they're shoite. But they've shown no real evidence that he gave up any military info.

Second to none: as someone else said, it's like a real-life version ofJjack Bauer.

I'd say Ron Kovic is not alone. Christ, you wouldn't be human if you went though a war (especially of the Vietnam type) and came out of it with no reservations about the idea.

At least he#s not another GWB with no clue as to how people suffer during war.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Are you just going to keep posting sites rather than actually having a discussion on this?
We can all trawl google and come up with obscure sites that dislike McCain for whatever reason....

''Such is their fear of being labelled "Right-wing", they have to ramble on about the rights and wrongs of the vietnam war, or how the guy is a republican.''

Yes, I'm so afraid of random people on the internet thinking I hold a certain political view.
The fact that I said I don't think McCain should be worshiped for being a Vietnam vet is nothing to do with the fact that the Vietnam War was a complete farce. Oh no. It's just I'm terrified people will call me 'right-wing'.

To be honest, I have more respect for people like Christina Noble, who works with homeless children in Vietnam. You know, people who actually trying to improve the quality of life in different countries rather than just blowing them up. But that's just me. ;)

A lot of people said that about Bush jnr. In fairness, half of them aren't stupid.

:pac: Now, in fairness, it was kind of un-realistic to suggest that the only reason I (or any other posters here) wasn't praising McCain was because I didn't want to be called right-wing.

And about the ''homelessers''- where did I say I cared about them and wanted everyone to know it? I said I have more respect for people like Christina Noble, who helps homeless kids, than people like McCain. Maybe if people did care more about ''homelessers'' , instead of worshipping war-mongerers like McCain, the world would be a better place. :D

I think that the latter is usually the first port of call for a few volts, so keep it wrapped in insulating tape at all times.
